ABCs of Love #1

Grade A Asshole

Rate this book
I eat professors like him for breakfast.

The moment Professor Grant shows up at my English 401 class is the day that I decide I'm not going to let some a$$hole ruin my last year as an undergrad. I've worked way too hard, avoiding classes taught by pompous literary professors who have nothing better to do than assign busywork.

It turns out Professor Grant is the worst offender of them all, and he isn't letting me off easy. Well, he's in for a surprise.

Sure, the silver fox look he's rocking turns me on, and yes, unfortunately, he's built as he can f*ck you into next week, but I don't care.

I want him gone. Fired. Disintegrated from existence.

That is until he touches me, teases me, and challenges me as no professor has before.
Now, I'm not so sure I want him out of my life.

I'm starting to get used to the way he shows up at my apartment unannounced. The way he calls me spoiled whenever I complain about my assignments and damn it all to hell, even that annoying, haughty look he gives me before burying his c*ck inside me.

I never thought this would happen, but Professor Grant might be one assignment I'm willing to do the extra work for this year.

I'm going to admit, the title is what caught my eye, and the blurb of this book is what had me. I devoured it. I couldn't put the book down once I started, and book one is only the beginning. My plan is to devour book two this week! I love a good alpha and Vanessa does not disappoint. I'm eager to see how this story unfolds. This story can go so many ways at this point and my mind is spinning.

Good story

Good story. A different spin on the teacher/student romance. Desperately needs editing. Enough mistakes it is almost to the point of being too distracting.

I have loved Vanessa Booke's previous books, so was looking forward to reading this one. Sadly I was disappointed. I struggled to like the characters - Professor Grant is arrogant, and I found Josie a bit of an immature brat. Perhaps with a bit more editing and polishing of the story I would have enjoyed this more, as the story has potential. This is short, and the story unfinished so perhaps the characters will redeem themselves in the next part of this story.

This is the first book in the ABC’s of Love series by Vanessa Booke. It seems like it took forever for this book to finally be released and I gotta tell you it wasn’t really worth the wait. I know this is a series but since the next book is about Derrick and Vicky I figured Parker and Josie’s story would be resolved at the end of this book and it wasn’t. Also Parker came across as a little bit of a bitch some times especially in regards to his ex-wife. Josie is 23 years old and finishing up her last year of college, she’s majoring in English. She’s very anxious to graduate because once she receives her degree she’ll gain access to her 5.4 million dollar inheritance. She’s the sole heiress of Wilde Entertainment Industries, the biggest production company this side of Hollywood Hills. She’s just found out her Professor who was an easy A for her has died and his replacement has given her an F on her latest essay. Professor Parker Grant is 39 years old and he’s recently divorced from Hollywood’s most beloved actress. He was married to Scarlett for years and he supported her through all her auditions and was her biggest fan. They have a daughter named Olivia and Parker adores her more than anything. Scarlett started sleeping with her co-star and confessed to Parker she no longer loved him. When Josie tries to dispute her grade Professor Grant stands by his decision and refuses to allow her to withdraw from the class. She is furious and calls him an Asshole so he tells her she is being a petulant child. The two of them are obviously attracted to one another but they try very hard to fight it. One thing that really annoyed me was Vicky tells Josie she wants to set her up on a date with a guy named Noah who is friends with Derrick (Parker’s brother who likes Vicky) when Josie gets to the date Noah kisses her cheek and she thinks to herself that Josie did say her cousin was handsy. Well is Noah Derrick’s friend or Vicky’s cousin ?

Vanessa Booke does a wonderful job of drawing you in to Ms. Wilde and Professor Grant’s story. The backstory provided allows us to feel like we know the characters. Unlike many books in the genre, the supporting characters truly help the story along and are just as well written as the main characters. I genuinely want to know what happens with Derrick and Vickie next as well. :)

The story itself is written to be believable where some Older:younger or teacher/student novels simply aren’t. I could easily picture these scenes and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next.

There is just enough steam in this to make me wish I had read it while drinking a glass of wine while taking a bubble bath. Thank you for releasing an updated version. I have read all of her books and I think this one is my favorite.

Vanessa Brooke did a great job on Grade A A$$hole, it was a great story. The plot was strong, it was written well, with many feelings. Josie and Parker were strong characters, their journey was a rollercoaster, they had many ups and downs, they both were so hard headed. They were made for each other, loved their bantering.
The chemistry between Parker and Josie was off the charts, it was sexy. They were great together. Their connection was strong, well matched.
I enjoyed this story. Thanks, Vanessa Brooke. Great work :)

He doesn’t believe in letting anyone skate by and is determined not to let Josie slide. As these two butt heads their attraction escalates into some seriously hot times. also standing in their way is their student professor relationship but issues from the Professor’s past. The author created a memorable character and named the book after him. Their scenes were humorous, at times steamy, sweet and effective in moving the story along. Each character was perfectly placed in each scene. I hope his brother gets his story told as well because the scenes between the brothers were realistic and engaging. Good story.

One hot professor

I've always read books by Vanessa and I've always enjoyed them and nothing has changed.

I really enjoyed reading this book and found myself comparing it to the previous version to see what the difference was. The minute I read a certain name I knew I read it somewhere before and know that's made me want to go straight back to the start and re-read bound to you all over again.

Only thing I have to say is I just felt like the end of the story isn't finished so I'm hoping there will be a catch up on Parker and Josie and how things have been for them etc. Also I need to know what happens between Parker's brother and Josie's roommate. Did they settle down? Has Derek finally fell in love?? Etc etc

The queen of the cliffies is back with this wonderfully written, totally entertaining and heat building story. A hot but difficult professor is not what our leading lady expected when she sat in her professor's office to argue over the failing grade that she received on her recent paper for her final English class of her college career. But that is just what she received and is ready to speak to the professor who is old as time, unfortunately she is met by a tall, breathtakingly handsome man with a sour attitude. Getting off on the right foot never had a chance when he opens his mouth and shuts down her attempt to get the grade changed or to re-write the paper. Needless to say, what she see's before her leaves her mind and body struggling to get on the same page. What she see's has her body reacting in ways she would prefer it not doing while in his presence. What her mind does, well it calls him every name in the book until the words come out of her mouth. A$$hole!!! Little does she know, the professor has a problem all his own with the beautiful student sitting across from his desk. He's attracted to her and is warring internally with himself as well. She's a student. He's newly divorced and is her teacher. She's a young woman, he's all man! Let the games begin!

The characters are delightfully well written and engaging. Josie is the beautiful, smart and sass-mouthed student who is waiting to graduate college where she will be able to get the money that is promised to her by her father. She has never made a low grade in all of her time in the school and takes this particular English class because the professor is old and is known to grade easy. Unfortunately for her, the professor is no longer her teacher and in his place is the handsome and hard-nosed Professor Grant. When the two of them meet by chance at a club on Valentine's day, the games begin, when he leaves her breathless and wanting. She see's him even more of an A$$hole after that encounter! But he continues to haunt her dreams which makes seeing him in person even more uncomfortable. That is until he shows up at her dorm room and brings one of her dreams to life.

A totally enjoyable hot read that will definitely leave you wanting. This duet promises to leave you breathless. I highly recommend this book and look forward to part two!

Josie Wilde is an English major in her last semester of college. Like most graduating college students, she wants her last semester to be easy breezy. Unfortunately, things do not work out as she planned, however, the new plan seems more challenging and interesting.

Parker Grant is a divorced father of a precious little girl. His ex-wife wants to continue to ruin his life and he has a difficult time getting past the hurt he felt over her betrayal and her continued flirtations. His younger brother sees him as a pretentious, stuffy jack wad. Ms. Wilde tends to agree and lets him know it. Yet when Parker is around Josie, that is not how he feels.

I was not ready for this novel at all! I thought this would be the typical college girl/college professor story. On some level it was, but on another level, it was more than what I expected. The interactions between Parker and Josie from the beginning are tinged with sexual innuendo and raw sexual chemistry. This continues throughout the entire novel, even after they become lovers. The sexual chemistry between them comes off the pages and I had to stop reading a few times to calm my own libido. The author uses lots of flirtation and steamy inner monologue to carry the reader along until the couple consummate their relationship. For many, the relationship speed may be slow because the “real action” does not happen until over halfway into the novel. I found this novel to be witty, entertaining, engaging and endearing with laugh out loud moments. I do think the novel needs one more round with a proofreader, but overall, it was well written.

I received a free advanced reader copy of an honest review.

Josie has to finish her last year of college with a degree in hand before her parents will give her access to her inheritance. She has cruised up until she gets an F on her latest paper. Angry she goes to see her English Professor to contest the grade.

Surprise! The man standing in the doorway is not her professor. This is a hot as he'll silver fox. He won't give in to her request to re-write the paper and she is livid. While she is attracted to him, she needs good marks more.

After this interaction they seem to bait each other, he embarrasses her in class, is rude to her if they bump into each other outside of college.

While Josie is everything Parker Grant dislikes in a woman, he can't get her off his mind. She is too young for him, he is cynical about woman and relationships after his wife cheated on him.
He is jealous when he sees her on a date, he interrupts and warns her about her date Noah.

Later that evening Parker arrives at Josie's dorm, they give in to their attraction and have wild, passionate sex. Josie regrets it the next day. While on her way to meet her parents on their yacht, she bumps into Parker. They are disagreeing as usual when her father arrives and introduces himself. Her father invites Parker to join them for the day. She tells Parker last is never happening again, he tells her it's over when he says it is. End of part1.

Would Parker be my book boyfriend?
Yes, he is hot, sexy, an alpha who had his world's shattered when his wife cheated on him. Josie may just be what heals him, without him realising it.

This was a mixed book for me. I love the professor/student trope and it started off great.

Josie is entitled, yet not in all of the ways you would expect someone from money to be... and then Professor Parker Grant is everything you want at the podium during lecture.... but he has his own demons.

Josie walks into her professors office to see the same old, frail man who had been teaching the course and is left waiting, wondering why she received a F on her paper when she had been coasting so far. So when some silver fox wannabe walks, in she is caught off guard, and rightfully so. Professor Grant has taken over the class, as the previous professor passed away, and his grading game is so much harder than his predecessors.

Josie and Grant are both attracted to each other right off the bat, but stay away from each other the best they can trying to deny the draw pulling them together.

I really tried to get into the story and get lost in it, yet I kept having issues with timing. One minute it would be 3am and then Josie was on the beach and stumbles upon the professors house in the morning and he has a beer?!? That really was detrimental to my enjoyment of the story as consistency and fluidity are important to me.

Once again, I've stumbled across a new to me author that totally entertained me with her latest release, Grade A Asshole. Can I just say, sometimes you just need a read like this to take away the craziness of life!

Age gap romances are some of my favorites to read and Josie and Parker's story wasn't lacking in entertainment. Josie is a rather blunt senior in college looking to take the easy route her final semester, but considering her age, it's a perfect character trait and fits right along with what the author portrays her as. Parker, being the older, somewhat responsible teacher, is somewhat stuffy. Considering what he's been through with his ex, it's no wonder he and Josie have a bit of spark between them. The banter exchanged is to die for! As the chemistry continues to thicken between them, you will love the sexual innuendos. They are absolutely some of the best.

If you're in the mood for some laugh out loud moments, this is one story you're definitely going to want to read. Entertaining from beginning to end, Booke had me begging for more. I love that this is the first book in the start of a series and that there's going to more fun stories to come!

Professor Grant is truly and utterly an A$$hole in every which way!

Grade A A$$hole by a new professor to me, Vanessa Brooke, is just the first book in her ABCs of Love series. The story does end in a way which had me wondering "why would you end it here?", but this just has us on the edge for the second book.

I will note, I wanted more between Parker and Josie. He was hurt by his ex and he was standing in Josie's way to making that A for her English degree. At every turn and encounter they are like oil and water, so the angst was spot on, which made their spark flicker... but I felt like there could have been more of a firework between them. I thought more erotic encounters would have happened, given from the synopsis, so I was left dis-hearten in the end.

Struggling with this. Great plot, horrible execution. Mistakes everywhere (his hand lifted hand.......wtf) and the repetitiveness........
We KNOW his ex wife's name is Scarlett and that they are divorced.
We KNOW the department chair wants him.
We KNOW he doesn't date beautiful women anymore.

Don't get me started on contradicting statements.
The hero had been separated 3 years but still has tan line on ring finger and his 5 year old child is struggling to adjust?
The heroine was heartbroken when guy she was on a date with asked for another girl's number then goes to the bar and states "everyone is single unless they’re married"

I read a few reviews saying this ends with a cliffhanger so I think I'm going to quit while I can. Maybe skip to the end to see if they're right.

Wasn't a cliffhanger but I definitely skipped 15 chapters to the end. Author has potential if she can learn to write properly.

The ending left me hanging so I'm looking forward to the next book so I know how things go down between Parker and Josie. Parker is taking over a recently deceased professor's classed and he and Josie don't start off on the right foot! There's chemistry between them but divorced Parker isn't interested in getting to know his new students out of the classroom, well that is until he admits to himself that he liked Josie. Josie thinks Parker is a sexy a**hole that she wouldn't mind spending some extracurricular time alone with him. Things get heated between them but there's a lot standing in the way and Josie doesn't expect them to be more then a one night stand! Now I want to know what happens next!!

This is the first book I have read by this author-it's also the first book in her ABCs of Love series. It's the story of an older professor and his younger, college-aged student. Parker Grant is a bit of a miserable, stuffy old man. His brother Derrick tries to get him to loosen up and have some fun but the damage done by his cheating ex has left a mark on Parker. The only thing that brings some fire out in him is his feisty, no-filter English student, Josie. I loved the banter and chemistry between these two, and how they seamlessly moved into a more intimate relationship. Great job with the secondary characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Judging by the reviews of this book which date from 2018 to present date (2020) I'm guessing this book has been re released and thankfully I've read the updated 2020 version, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Josie picked her english class thinking it would be an easy ride.
When she goes to confront her professor about her first ever F she finds he's passed away and been replaced by the silver foxed hotty Professor Grant.
Instead of the easy ride she was expecting professor Ahole grant will be riding her to put the work in, or fail his class.

Professor Grant has his reasons for being miserable but Josie certainly brings out the best in him, and the angry banter and lust filled arguments between these 2 was fun to read.

I loved this book! This is my first read by this author and definitely won’t be my last. Josie needs to pass English 401 to graduate, in order to get her inheritance. When she gets an F on her latest paper, she’s angry, and she goes to her English Professor to argue her grade. Josie is more than a little surprised to see Professor Grant walk in. Professor Grant has taken over the class as the previous professor had passed away. He doesn’t believe in letting anyone coast by in his class and won’t give in to her request to rewrite her paper. They are both attracted to each other from the beginning and try hard to deny the feelings. I loved their witty banter with each other. This book was fun, steamy, and extremely entertaining.

Ok i loved this book! At first I thought it was going to be the same as other teacher/ student romances but this book has fire! The characters spar back and forth it's definitely more a hate at first sight, temperatures soar and professor Grant just can't help teaching his moat challenging student a lesson she won't forget , can't wait for book 2

Would professor Parker Grant be my book boyfriend? Oh yes he definitely would I love an older man who knows what he wants and goes for it he has a firey passion and doesn't let anything stop him, he does come across a bit arrogant but we can forgive him for that lol

Sassy, snarky, sexy … an intense and exciting battle of wills. Josie is shocked by her grade and when she goes to discuss it with the professor, she finds a very different professor than she expected. Parker Grant knows Josie’s type and won’t back down as he sees she is attracted to him while trying to repair her grade. The gauntlet is thrown between these two strong-willed, confident people. As they keep bumping into each other, the sexual tension ramps up keeping me on pins and needles … will they, or won’t they? I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
