DNF 27%

It started out nicely but as soon as signs of OW drama were hinted, I bailed (and I also saw in some reviews people mentioning about it). Also, H seemed to have been a manwh*re before meeting h, even if there is a supposed shortage of females on his planet.

[He] would've drunk himself stupid, then taken two or three of those tall, lean females to his quarters and spent himself inside them until they all passed out in his big bed

First of all, it is said that there are much less females than males on his planet, so it seems very unlikely that males would have the choice of many. Following that logic, females would be the ones in 'power' to find intimate partners, not the other way around.

Second of all, the introduction of so many females who want the hero (and most likely won't back off knowing he has a mate) in a Fated Mates love story is just very off-putting. I signed up for a Fated Mates love story, not catty highschool drama with aliens on the side.

Therefore, DNF.

3.5 - steamy but felt rushed and half baked

I think both main characters had so much potential, but they just felt half baked. They had great chemistry.
The world building was interesting and I would have liked more backstory about the alliance/truce between the tribes. Maybe the sequel Will answer those questions.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: violence, discussion of trafficking and slavery

Warrior Bound (Fated Mates of Halia Book 1)
By Alaska Jones
Kira is a rookie pilot who crash lands onto a Earth like planet landing on the wrong side of a tribal border. Xorian is a lead warrior of the Ravvian people who is drawn to the area of the future crash site passing out as the foreign spaceship makes an inauspicious landing. Will this “small, dark-haired, female” be the key to bringing balance and safety for Xorian’s people? You have to read to find out how these Fated Mates learn to save each other. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. This is not a cliffhanger, but it has set a few storylines up to be further developed in the next book.. “Warrior Bound” is the first book of Alaska Jones Fated Mates of Halia series where mates for the Ravvians are few and treasured and although there is technology on the planet there is an imbalance of power between them and the brutish others known as the “Hujani”. Ms. Jones develops a colorful world with detail to the inhabitants and environment which adds to the enjoyment of this trip into Halia.

This isn't anything new from the classic Sci-Fi romance tropes, but it was still a lot of fun. I enjoyed the writing style and both characters were fun and likable with great chemistry.

Plus, the smut. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Enough said!

First alien romance and first book by Alaska Jones. I really did enjoy this book. I was a little surprised. Kira is a spacecraft pilot from earth. She is a courier. She made for a strong MC. Loyal, strong, brave and kind. She crash lands into a strange planet due to mechanical failure on her spacecraft, and is able to mediate the situation and keep her calm. Xorian is a warrior from one of the tribes on the planet. The Ravvian tribe. He is strong, brave and sweet to the FMC. They are a good match. He and a few of his men were on patrol when they see the spacecraft crash. This book is about faded mates, insta love, and a rivalry with another tribe. The book is full of steamy scenes. I really enjoyed the storyline, characters and world building.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building was okay, but by no means was it a vibrant character in itself. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals if not especially nuanced. However, I appreciated how proactive the heroine was in this romance. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and hot. The heat level was three to four chili peppers. The plot was exciting and the pacing was quick. There was low angst in this novel and high stakes throughout, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Crash Landed on an Alien Planet trope, the Fated Mates trope, and the Mars Needs Women trope. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were both four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with steam and an action packed plot. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a hot steamy book that kept me engaged until the end! Kira and Xorian are so made for each other – though they don’t know it at first, lol. There were a couple of laugh out loud moments in here at the beginning due to their cultural differences, but Kira catches on pretty fast to their customs and the steamy scenes are pretty hot. Kira is a kick a$$ woman who shows that humans may seem small and much weaker, but they certainly can contribute to the tribe. My only complaint is that I wasn’t ready for it to end so soon – I wanted to keep reading all about this new world and the sexy warriors in it. If you like stories about feisty women and hot aliens who recognize their fated mates at a glance, this story is DEFINITELY for you! Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this story. This was my first book I read by Alaska and it will not be my last. Kira & Xorian are absolutely perfect for each other. Kira is a strong MC and is exactly what Xorian needed as a mate. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. I loved the characters and there story. I can’t wait too read Jaryk’s story next.

Nothing like a crash landing on an alien planet to catch your attention. The author makes it more difficult by the crash occurring on enemy land, but the female pilot recovered by another group. There’s a lot of emotions: intense longing by the alien due to the bond and fear, disbelief, resentment from the human because of her precarious position. The action and stress will keep you turning the pages and the hot sex will definitely capture your attention as well.

Crash Landed into Love

This story started with one of the most intense alien-meeting-mate first encounters I’ve ever read and it just got better from there. I loved how strong and spunky yet open and vulnerable Kira was, and how she wanted to fight for her newly adopted people. I loved how patient and accepting Xorian was. The story doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per se, but there’s plenty of story left to be told, and I’m excited for the next book in this series!

I liked this book, it was an easy read and kept me involved with the storyline. A pilot crash lands on an alien planet and is swept up by a hot blue warrior who calls her his mate, both are bad asses and have hot sexy times. A bad warring tribe makes a play and stuff happens. What’s not to dig about it? Looking forward to book two as this one doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but there is an unfinished bigger plot and looks like it will feature another couple.

Kira is a human woman freshly graduated as a courier pilot. She crash lands on an unfamiliar planet due to engine trouble on her ship. Xorian is a 7 foot tall blue, horned alien warrior. He immediately reacts to Kira’s presence on his planet and discovers she is his mate, something that is now rarely found among his people.

Kira is attracted to the handsome warrior, but she’s not sure about being his mate. Xorian is patient and gentle with Kira, showing his attraction and care for her. Kira and Xorian explore their attraction to each other and Xorian tells her about a ceremony that when conducted his tribe will consider her to be a member of the tribe. This will protect her from the red devilish looking other alien tribe who want to claim Kira to be a slave and a part of their breeding program.

The feelings and bond between Kira and Xorian grows quickly and Kira decides she wants to stay with Xorian. This is a fun read with plenty of action. Kira is a feisty female character who adapted quickly to her circumstances, befriending several of the tribe and suggesting a solution to the tribe elders.

I think this is a great start to the series and will look forward to reading the next books in the series. I received a free copy of the book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Yallll I am struggling the past few months, this year, with reading. I have DNF 71 books! And the last maybe 10 books I've attempted I've gotten more than halfway through and DNF them. This one was short(ish) and sweet, just what I needed. It was a fast burn, kind of? Fated mates but it worked out. I usually only read slow burns but I did not mind at all in this scenario, it just seemed to work. Remember my 3 star rating means "I liked it", so this was a pretty good book. I normally like books with more plot but this was a good slump breaker. I had a few issues though.

I feel like we know nothing about the heroine or hero. I would have loved more back story. She mentions a brother once and how she needs to go back to see him and her family and then never mentions him again, although she does kind of vaguely mention going back to earth with Xorian a few times. There were a few other women (who Xorian had no interest in but they played the part of catty jealous ex girlfriends) and Kira overheard them talking about wanting to kill her to take her out of the picture and just talking a lot of crap and then nothing came of it. They never attempted to hurt her or anything. I would have also loved a little more world building. This book is only 200 pages and I am a firm believer that a scifi romance book needs to at least be 350ish pages in order to properly set up the world and the characters. This is a completely new planet and a new culture and a different species, there is no way it can be adequately described in 200 pages. I need a little more oomph - I want to hear about the food! The language. It sounds like their tribe was kind of technologically advanced in some ways but at the same time they are living in tents and carrying swords. They have implant chips. Do they have other weapons like blasters? What about their gods? What do they worship? What are the dangers on this planet besides the Big Bad Guys? How was he chosen as Vissu? Was his father Vissu? Does Xorian have other family? His mom? Were his parents mated?? I need details!

I liked how the couple didn't make a huge deal about the I Love Yous. It felt natural. Their attraction didn't feel forced or rushed even though it was only a couple days. It worked. I found the idea of the public ritual where everyone had to watch them have sex really interesting. Sometimes the aliens felt really human in their mannerisms and then the heroine would mention Xorians blue skin and I was like "blue? Huh? Oh yeah, he is an alien"

Overall I still enjoyed this book. And I liked Jaryk, too! I think book 2 is about Jaryk and I am intrigued enough and I enjoyed book 1 enough to pick it up and see what happens. I'd love to see a continuation of the events in book 1. What happens with the ship? The mines? The bad guys? Etc.

Also HUGE huge props to the author for no epilogue babies. This is my fantasy world and I hate when I'm enjoying a book and then BAM babies. I have a kid and I want to escape from IRL and I don't want babies infringing upon my smut lol

Fated Mate to the Rescue!

Kira is trying to return her ship to Earth after her boss tried to sexually assault her. Too bad he ended up to injured to fly!! On the way home the engine acts up, because her boss didn’t fix it like he said he did, and she crash lands on a small planet. She is knocked unconscious. Some Ravvians were patrolling close by and they rescue her, even though she is in enemy territory. Xorian knows that she is his fated mate and will do anything to protect her. They are attacked on the way back to base by their enemys, the Hujani, and Xorian and his warriors kill them all, with a little help from Kira and her blaster!

The Hujani are a cruel race and purchase humans as slaves and breeders. There is no way they are getting Kira. He knows the only way to protect her is for her to acknowledge that she is his mate and complete the bonding ceremony, but he doesn’t want to force her. Fortunately, she realizes that she can’t live without Xorian and agrees to the ceremony just in time. When the Council meets the Hujani try to claim she is their property, but the Council rejects their argument because no one seperates bonded mates! Not an easy task, but one Xorian is willing to help with. The book ends as Kira and Xorian and the other warriors try and come up with a plan. Strong start, weak end-game

So, the mate bond is a huge deal to the Ravvians as with most alien romances. The story takes care to explain how rare and precious these bonds are and how the males are excessively territorial. Everything was fine until the dilemma/solution was introduced. The only way for anyone to take these love birds seriously if by hosting a public bdsm sex ritual while the tribemates surround them and participate. This is also the first time they are slot A to B intimate.

Basically, not only is it an exhibition, but it also becomes an orgy/swingers ordeal as they furiously cheer and touch and mingle.

I was immediately turned off and confused. The level of false virtue was highly irritating as well as insulting. The story is labeled as "non-cheating," "hea," and "committed," but I can't take it seriously. There were no backbones to the line of logic behind the events in the story, and it left a bad taste in my mouth, especially reading about the next MC taking other women numerous times. We're supposed to root for this same guy with another human woman? As if he hadn't already been coming home to multiple Ravvian women? Hard pass. The story left me discontented in the later half as if everything that previously had happened had been a lie.

Great Story, steamy and fun

Warrior Bound: I really liked the story, plot, and kickass heroine. Just the right mix of dominant male to dominant female. Trust and submission aren’t weakness but sometimes it takes a while to get there. Kira, the heroine, is pretty amazing and adaptable.

Warrior Hunted: I liked Jaryk in the first book when he was Xorians sort of little mischievous brother in arms to this book where he certainly grows into his strength. This too has a great kickass heroine that in a way moves much faster with more surety than the one in the first book. Being on the run changes dynamics and makes for strong interactions between characters. I want a Xena ....for those that want to know what Xena is you’ll just have to read the book.

Both books are very good and I’m hoping that Dakim gets the next book if she continues the series. Or if it follows the females instead, then Elsa!

I read a lot of books in this genre and I can say this was a very enjoyable, entertaining story about Kira who was harassed by her boss and is flying back to Earth. Kira's ship malfunctions and she crash lands on a small planet. The planet has two alien tribes- Ravvian and Hujani. Kira crashes in the Hujani territory but is found by the Ravvians who are patrolling the area. When Xorian sees Kira, he senses she's his mate and they take her to his tribe but on the way they get attacked by the Hujanis which they win the battle. Fearing about the Hujani's claiming her, Xorian tells Kira about a ceremony to become a member of his tribe. Will Kira agree, will Xorian persuade Kira to be his mate? This story was my first book I've read by Alaska Jones and I found it well written with great characters, plenty of action and very romantic. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Grrr cliffhangers

OK, so the cliffhanger wasn’t too bad but it left an unfinished storyline and I don’t have time to read the next book right now. But even small cliffhangers make my OCD go into overdrive. So it’ll bother me until I get the next book read. Other than that, this book was absolutely fantastic. A bit too much sexy times for me, but that’s just my personal preference.
I, 100% recommend this book to anyone thinking about reading it. The storyline is amazing, the character and world building is on point, and I absolutely loved the personalities of each of these characters. There was one alien woman that I was hoping would get what was coming to her but sadly it never happened. The next book is already in my library and waiting for me to read when I get a chance.

4.5 stars. I actually asked the author for a copy of this story after reading the fourth in the series because I was intrigued by where she’s taken the alien world premise.

Kira, the female lead, has crashlanded onto Halia, the planet where the male lead, Xorian, lives, due to poor maintenance by her boss. Xorian rescues her from her craft and from a rival alien group, who would have forced her to become a breeder, claiming her as his mate. Whilst she is deeply attracted to him in a way she’s never been to other males, she’s not certain about the fated mate premise. But he is determined to woo her whilst keeping her safe.

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and I particularly liked that Kira had a genuine place with Xorian’s tribe as more than just his mate. I enjoyed the world building and character development, as well as the intimate scenes.

I loved the subplot of Kira's discovery of the slaves, and I appreciate how clever she was in noting its significance. But I'm not normally a romance reader and found the pacing to be too quick. I had a hard time buying the language barrier, species compatibility when they're not even from the same planet yet the aliens are basically human, and how quickly they went from meeting each other to the ending. They both proclaim they've "never lived before now" after making out, which seems over-dramatic and when they've only known each other for a few hours. I think if it was drawn out and really explored Kira learning this new culture and Xorian, it would be a stronger story.

This was a fabulous start to a new series, and leaves you wanting more. Thankfully, thanks to the ending, you can tell we are in fact going to get what we want. This book had a wonderful balance of action mixed in with the romance and passion of our mates, Kira and Xorian. I loved the strength and resilience of Kira. She was the perfect balance for Xorian, and helped strengthen him through their bond. You can tell these books are just going to get better and better, and I will happily be along for the ride!

Alaska Jones is a new author for me, and boy, did she ever shoot to the top of my favorite authors list. Warrior bound is off the planet - literally. Tells the story of rookie pilot Kira who crash lands - on an alien planet. Two alien tribes fight for her for two totally different reasons - one for slavery and one for freedom. But (there's always a but) a big blue problem appears in front of her with his own demands and they're not private.
I eagerly look forward to more books by this author and heartily recommend the book.

Wow Fantastic

I just recently started reading this genre. This is a first by this author. Kira is flying a spacecraft when she begin to have engine problems, before she can send a message back to earth she crash lands. The hero is out on patrol when him and his friends come across the crash. The hero become dizzy the closer they get to ship and eventually pass out. It's the mate bond. This story has large blue horned aliens, little short red alien, fruit that you can get intoxicated from and a lot more. Kudos to the author. 👏👏👏👏 Getting ready to purchase book 2.

Xorian and Kira such a good couple

It’s a good start and story for Xorian, a warrior. He is one of the best warriors. He and his friends were on guard when a ship dropped from the sky. All of a sudden Xorian felt weak and dropped to his knees. He didn’t know at the time, but a beautiful woman is on that ship and she is his mate. The journey begins there. It’s the alien saves damsel in distress troupe. The female Kira is very intelligent and does some saving of her own. Read On!
