The four Boston clairvoyants, blessed—or cursed—with special powers, must fight a ruthless enemy and stop injustice. In Dead Cat, Run, the Sisters of Fate drove them together, but at what cost? The God Apollo wasn’t playing around. He’s still dead set on vengeance.
Sinister forces will have a wicked agenda. An energy grab, a mineral rights war, and deadly mercenaries create a mortally serious game. But the psychics’ sibylline abilities aside, they’re only human. At least three of them are. (What’s up with that?)
Can they stop the killers? And who will survive?
An energetic contemporary thriller, Cut and Run will have you on the edge of your seat as the dance between good and evil resumes.
Annabelle Lewis, a pseudonym for the author, lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Regrettably? Perhaps. She still believes she’s a Texan even though the math no longer supports that. Nor her birthplace. Nor her residence. No offense, Minnesota. You’ve got your good points too, but only about six months of the year.
In her youth, Annabelle was a complete failure. Ask anyone who knew her. Any of her teachers and family would tell you this. High school graduation was a sad day for all when Annabelle walked proudly off the high school stage, her thoughts consumed with boys, beer, and after-parties, and later into the arms of her parents. Her father’s laughter and singular remark? “I didn’t think you’d make it. Get a job at the post office, they have a good retirement plan.”
A high bar and words to live by, but Annabelle wanted more. She needed to flunk out of college too. But damn, she sure did have a good time. Trivial arrest records not-withstanding, it was a growth period for our girl. And if you look closely, you’ll see a bit of what was to come when she majored in criminal justice. Her lifelong aspiration was to become a judge. Hmm.
For better or worse, Annabelle didn’t graduate from college but did find gainful employment and a fulfilling career. This path ended when she became a mom. Married to her wonderful George, who to this day can hardly remember an actual proposal, Annabelle finally became a mother. She didn’t have a clue how hard she would need to work to keep those self-imposed requirements of Downey-fresh, iron-pressed sheets, home-baked meals, and mom-of-the-year awards arriving. She composed a small self-affirmation song and made her children sing it to her for money. She was a very good mom.
After clearing the largest hurdles of motherhood and regrettably, begrudgingly, and not-without-tears, launching her children onto the world, she looked around and realized she had a lot to say. Picking up a laptop, she got to work.
Annabelle spends her days continuing to tackle the challenges of motherhood, for both her humans and canines. She also writes. And reads. And cleans. And cooks. And bakes. And cleans again. She also supports her husband, George, in an administrative capacity for their small business. She’s in charge of payroll and cuts George’s checks. This leads to no marital acrimony.
In the beginning, with the blank page staring at her and possibly in a hostile mood after being literally mauled by a dog and by the world in general, she had an idea. What if she could wield a force of good upon unsuspecting evil-doers? What if she had the resources to get the job done without dealing with committee and anyone else’s whiney-ass opinions?
It was gold. It took off. Annabelle sat down and began to write and couldn’t stop. To date, having written over a million words in the Carrows Family Chronicles and her second series on the Boston Clairvoyants, several items have become quite clear. Annabelle had a lot to say. Annabelle really enjoys writing. And although she hates all things technology, she begrudgingly pounds her head on her desk daily as obstacles are thrown in her path. Almost a hero.
Since entering her world of make-believe, she has rebelled against all intrusion of real-world responsibilities. Her house is a mess, but she tries. Her family is fed, but more often than not, on takeout. She vows to shower every day, but no, it’s a vow she’ll never keep. Her friends are neglected, but not in her heart. Read her mordacious blog!
Read her books! Follow her on social platforms! Sign up for her newsletter! These are all good things. What are you waiting for? Jump into bed with Annabelle. She’s having a swell time. You should join her.
Cut and Run begins about a year after the ending of Run, Cat Run. While each book contains a mystery of sorts, I think it’s important to read this series in the order of release because of the character relationships and the fates.
Max, Sedrah, Jenny and their dog Bones are settling into using their gifts and have made a motley family of sorts, along with their hired protection. Like Sedrah, Max is using his gift to help law enforcement. Their detective friend asks for help with a past case. Something doesn’t add up. A young man who he believed was innocent was railroaded and sentenced.
Meanwhile, a massacre at a mining business is plastered all over the news. Two young people are on the run, and Jenny believes they need to help. Bones agrees. The gods are not done with them and danger is eminent.
Once again, Lewis drew me in. I read until the wee hours. Now that we know the players and series arc, we could dive straight into these cases and watch as Lewis weaved them together and connected threads.
I loved Jenny in this book. She really shines, and was fearless as she faced down the villain. Max, Sedrah, Bones and their close group of allies. We had some intense scenes, and I cheered for our team. The newcomers and their skepticism kept things fresh, and the story moved at a steady clip, keeping me engaged.
Rumor has it the author is working on the third book and I look forward to finding out what happens next.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Cut and Run by Annabelle Lewis is the second novel in the Boston Clairvoyants series. Suspense and thrills await you as the adventure continues.
After my experience in Dead Cat, Run, I couldn’t wait to dive into Cut and Run. Now, unlike the previous book, the story immediately plunged the reader into a whirlpool of action. The events of Cut and Run took place one year after the previous book.
Max, Sedrah, Jenny and Bones face new challenges, which involved proving the innocence of three persons framed for murder. One of whom is currently incarcerated and the others on the run from the law and the real killers. Added to that, the threat the group faced in the previous book once again raised its ugly head. Only this time it while it came the same source of the previous threat, it involved a different set of individuals. As the story progresses, the plot threads surrounding the two cases intertwined, leading to one source.
The story kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Again, I gave up sleep for this one and, of course, no regrets. Few more persons are brought into the loop regarding the group’s abilities. There are levels of skepticism, which is understandable, given the circumstances. The characters have grown and have accepted their abilities. Bones, of course, continue to be the star of the show.
Cut and Run with its many twists and intense storyline made an exciting addition to the series. I am enjoying the series and look forward to what new challenge and adventures are in store for this group of quirky and likeable characters.
I could not put this book down! Read in one sitting. Loved the story. Loved the character development. Can't wait to read the next one. Thank you to the author for the giveaway copy!
I had the pleasure of reading Annabelle Lewis’s Dead Cat, Run and was excited to find out that there was a follow up to it. I jumped on the opportunity to read the next book, Cut and Run. It was far from a disappointment. I think I enjoyed it even more than Dead Cat, Run. This is not my normal type of read, however, it gives me another reason to go outside my comfort zone and read something new. It is refreshing to read something new, different and unique. I was entertained right from the start. I felt like I was in the middle of the action, danger and adventure with the main characters. I was often on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was going to happen next. This is one of those reads that made me stay in one spot and read in one sitting. That was time well spent. I loved every single page.
I am giving Cut and Run a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy a thrilling combination of mystery, suspense, supernatural and paranormal. I would love it if there would be more coming to continue these characters’ story in an upcoming release by Annabelle Lewis. It would be fun to see where else they would wound up next. Like their first story, this one should not be missed and definitely a must read. I loved it!
I received a digital copy of Cut and Run by the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
This is the second book in a series. In the first book, four psychics in Boston found each other and have become a “family.” They truly would do anything for each other. There was a lot of character development in the first book so although Cut and Run does stand on its own, I would recommend reading Dead Cat, Run first for an even better experience.
I thought the first book started a little slowly but Cut and Run is non-stop from the first page. The psychics are good, moral people and know they need to help others, so they are constantly battling evil. Once again, they’re up against horrible people who don’t care how many people they murder. I was on the edge of my seat at times wondering if a young naive couple would survive and if an innocent man would be released from jail.
I like how seemingly unrelated events eventually tie together. If you’re looking for a good thriller, look no further. I hope there are more stories with this group in the future.
Loved this book. This is the second of the series involving a group of friends and a dog, who came together due to their supernatural abilities. This book continues with some of the same evil characters. The friends team together to help an incarcerated innocent man be set free. They also become involved with a young couple who suddenly need help to establish their innocence following a horrific crime scene. These friends’ characters are really developing. They are very appreciative of becoming a “family”and are extremely loyal to each other. Highly recommend this book. I look forward to the next one.
I was impressed with Cut & Run. As an avid thriller reader I was stoked that Lewis kept the book fast paced and specific. Short chapters, an incredible hook of a first chapter, and I even dug the “Scooby-Doo”-esque group of psychics! I devoured the book in a day, I was satisfied with the ending, even if it was a tad anticlimactic, and I was invested in the characters.
I didn’t read the first book, Dead, Cat, Run—which I didn’t feel hindered me with this read—except for the first few pages where I was introduced to the clairvoyants. Bones is the dog. Other than that I was very pleased with this read.
Yes, it's me the author leaving a review for my own book. Goodreads doesn't seem to mind, so what's a girl to do? I loved writing this book. The characters are vivid, vulnerable, valorous, and victorious! (How's that? :)) I'm writing the third installment and can't wait to see what happens next!
The war between good & evil continues! From the first page Cut & run starts at a fast pace & continues till the very end! I wasn’t really sure about the whole psychics thing but even from the first book in the series Amanda Lewis does not disappoint if anything it helps add to the adventure! Definitely a page turn & will have you sitting at the edge of your seat quite often!
Cut and Run is the second book in the Boston Clairvoyants series. I will admit that I was glad that I read the first book, Dead Cat, Run. That book did a great job of telling the story of how the group came together. It also delved into what each of the human's abilities are. Bones wasn't as flashed out as I would have liked. This one takes place about a year after the events of the first book. I wouldn't read this one necessarily as a stand alone book. You will benefit much more from reading Book 1 first.
That being said, I enjoyed this second addition. It was much more well paced than book one. I enjoyed all of the main characters and how they interact with each other, especially Bones. I also liked how they use their gifts and work together to solve the newest mystery. My favorite part about the book was the growth in Jenny. She has become more confident and mature in this book. I love how they have all become a family of sorts. I'm still not completely sure I'm clear on why they have all found each other. I'm not well versed in the story of Apollo and Destiny. Hopefully, we will get more clues in later books. This is a fast paced book and series and I highly recommend it.
When I read the excerpt for the book I knew I was reading a book out of my comfort zone but found after reading the book it was intriguing, kept me guessing and made me glad I stuck with reading book. This book didn't disappoint action wise. Their was plenty of action. I look forward to the next book in the series if there is one.
Cut and Run Brings Readers a Wonderful Sequel to Dead Cat, Run. You can read the novel as a stand-alone story, and the author does a lot to "catch readers up" on the characters and the relationships built in the first book. Having said that, the author also put a lot of work into developing the characters through that first book and, I think readers will gain a lot stronger connection to this second novel if they have read the books in order. Readers can expect another well-developed, fast-paced storyline with some unexpected twists, turns, and characters to love/hate.
Cut and Run Highlights Good Vs. Evil. The author creates solid "good guys" to root for and "bad guys" to despise. In keeping with the flow of the first book of the series, Lewis develops her characters as they grow and connect through their shared gifts--and presents readers with a strong good vs. evil plotline. Cut and Run is another page-turner for readers with supernatural/paranormal gifts, a mysterious thriller, romance, some realistic fantasy, and plot twists. This novel was a little slow through the middle, but it picked up the pace and made it tough to put down.
Yes, the Dog is A Favorite Character. Again. I think it is impossible not to love Bones the dog--and be eager to see her role to the other characters and the overall story.
Would I Recommend Cut and Run by Annabelle Lewis? I really enjoy the characters and the author's writing style as this series grows. While you don't need to read the first book--I think you will be more than happy to read the novels in order--and be excited for another story to come along. If you enjoy paranormal thrillers with some good plot twists and turns, I recommend this book. I love feeling disappointed to finish a book! The author nicely ties up the storyline, but you will hate to leave the characters at the end! I loved both of the books of this series, and I do look forward to following them on more adventures with the author.
I received a copy of this book from the author or publisher for use in a blog review. All opinions are my own.
As we already met the four Boston clairvoyants who anchor this series, learned how they found each other, and how their special talents compliment - book two heads right into the next serious plot with a massacre. A team shows up at a quarry full of workers and quickly slaughters all but two - a young woman named Bonnie and a young man named Clyde. Why? They have no idea. But they are told to run and keep running. And run they do, with their tormentors in pursuit.
Meanwhile our four clairvoyants - Jenny, Max, Sidrah and Bones (a dog), are drawn into another case - that of a young man wrongfully convicted of his girlfriend's murder. Over the course of the book these two separate plots move slowly closer together as we learn they both originate in the law offices of their former nemesis who was killed in book one. There is a new partner in charge who is just as dedicated to evil doings.
While we follow the flight of Bonnie and Clyde as well as the behind the scenes action of those intent on evil, the foursome put their lives on the line by tormenting the new partner, stoking the fire of revenge. Will they be able to save Bonnie an Clyde, reveal the truth of the massacre and free the young man who is wrongfully convicted? Or will evil find a way to triumph.
Of the two, I found book one the most engaging. Perhaps because it was where we were introduced to the four main characters, so things started a little slower. But book two is also a good read, especially if you like a fast paced plot full of action. Note - while they are listed as stand alone books, I think they are best read in order.
Cut and Run is book two in the Boston Clairvoyants series and while you could likely read this one as a stand-alone, you will be much more filled in if you read book 1 (Dead Cat, Run) first. The first book gives you some great background on the characters (aka the Boston Clairvoyants) as well as a foot into the law firm, but alas, as mentioned; you could read Cut and Run without the first book.
When I first started reading Cut and Run, I got a little worried that our friends from the previous books weren’t going to be present, but I was definitely wrong! Sidrah, Max, Jenny, and Leon return and provide us quite the chase and thrill.
The thrill continues where we left off in book one and branches off into a few different directions that are all tied back to one. It was an intricate puzzle, finding all the pieces and putting them where they belong. And I feel fairly confident that the antagonist is finally out of the picture… I think!
I hope to see more of Bonnie and Clyde in the future as they were an interesting piece of the story.
I cannot wait for book three to come out as I am thoroughly enjoying the storyline the author has laid out before us. It isn’t, in my opinion, a far fetched, paranormal concept. It isn’t something that I find is abused, and frankly, it while the reader knows what is there, it isn’t shoved in our faces or really pushed. It is more of a background piece that ‘assists’ in the situations we find in front of us.
The Boston Clairvoyant series has become a favorite and I definitely look forward to reading more by this author.
In Cut and Run the story continues from the first book in this series, Dead Cat, Run. The story continues of four Boston clairvoyants, blessed—or cursed—with special powers, and their dog Bone. I did not read Dead Cat, Run and I realized to late that I should have. Where this book can certainly be read as a stand alone, I think it would have been easier to know the characters and what’s going on before I started Cut and Run. However that didn’t happen so, author Annabelle Lewis does a really nice job of preparing readers for Cut and Run. I found these four characters pretty evil, but they did develop well throughout the story. I rarely read paranormal and supernatural mystery and suspense reads, so this was a pretty new thing for me. I was surprised that I did actually enjoy this story very much. It is well written and the plot flows well. There’s a lot of action and twists and turns that keep you wanting to read to find out what’s going on next. If you enjoy paranormal and supernatural type books, you will find Cut and Run, and well as the first book in the series, Dead Cat, Run and enjoyable and entertaining read. I would suggest reading them in order. Cut and Run is Four Stars for me.
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255
Cut and Run is the sequel to Dead Cat Run by Annabelle Lewis. While you can read it as a stand-alone, I recommend reading book one first. It makes the sequel more enjoyable to have the entire back story in place.
The action was non-stop and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The characters continue to grow and evolve. The author's writing style is witty and sharp. And if you follow my reviews, you know I'm partial to great dog characters, and Bones is one of the best I've come across.
The story itself has several threads that twist, turn, and eventually weave together to make a fabulous, suspenseful ending to an excellent, well-written sequel that may have surpassed book one in energy and depth.
I recommend this tale to readers who want to be entertained by a paranormal/supernatural thriller featuring a battle of good versus evil.
Grab your copy of this book today. It's a thrilling, witty tale you don't want to miss.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for my review. Before receiving my copy I was not aware that it was a second in the series and was a little nervous I would be lost, but the author did a great job of catching the reader up thoroughly without being to verbose. The plot did tie in with the previous book, but also could stand alone well.
The characters were well developed and you got a true sense of their personalities and their sub-plots wove together well. The story was a good mix of crime meets paranormal, with you really rooting for the good guys against some truly disgusting bad ones. I cannot write a true review without extra cheers for Bones the dog, of course! A good read that you won’t want to put down!
Max, Sidrah, and Jenny return to face an entirely new challenge...
What I love about Annabelle's books is how wickedly she develops her villains. It makes you cheer for the good guys all the way home. This one was fast-paced at the beginning, then it leveled out, and it picked right back up with some big-time twisting and turning.
Cut and Run by Annabelle Lewis was a Mystery, Thriller that was simply a joy to read. I did find some spots a little confusing as I jumped into the series with CUT AND RUN by Annabelle Lewis and not with Dead Cat, Run by Annabelle Lewis. However, confusion aside it was simply a great read that left me wishing I had opted to read the first book first and has me considering go back and reading it to learn more about the characters.
An amazing gift for keeping you turning the pages. This was book 2, and as tense as the first (maybe more). Love the main characters, there are 5, and all are important. And I can't wait for more.
