After North America was almost destroyed, the nation of Paem emerges. There are 12 districts which they keep under a tight rein by staging The Hunger Games each year. Where two "tributes" from each district fight to the death in an arena. This has become great entertainment. This year, Kaitliss' sister is chosen as tribute so she steps in to take Prim's place.
I really enjoyed this book. Her fight for survival drew me in and I kept turning pages, reading this in one day.

I love that my library's audiobook collection allows me to spend time with my favorite books in a whole new way! I've found the audiobooks I enjoy most are those I've read before. While I already know and enjoy the story, now the books come alive with lively voice actors. It's like a movie but better since it's unabridged! Yea!

While it will never win awards for the most beautiful writing, this is an inventive, fast-paced and well-plotted book. A "ripping yarn" for teens, with just enough depth to keep it from being too pulpy.

I really liked this book. It was unlike any other book I have read before. It kept me entertained the whole way through. I look forward to reading Catching Fire.
Couldn't put the book down from the second I opened it. I read it again recently and was just as hooked as I was the first time.

Loved this!!! I was unsure about whether I would like the topic of the Hunger Games...so I resisted reading it. When I finally did, I was very pleasently surprised. I couldn't put my Kindle down and whipped right through HG, Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
