While a book of fiction and all that implies with only having so much truth behind it...I found this book captivating. It was well written and easy to follow along. It had well-rounded characters that you either loved or hated or pitied. Would I take this book seriously as something that maids went through in that time frame? No. Does it imply a certain message for anyone who reads it? Yes, certainly. I have many books that I cannot put down but this one, while sick of reading in general and wanting to do something else, every time I put it down I ended up back at in within ten minutes. And this for her first book written as an author?? Incredible. A masterpiece as a first book. I would recommend to anyone no matter their tastes.
