In our modern times Tortilla Flat could easily be viewed by some as discriminatory, due to the stereotypical lazy, slothful, and constant drunken state placed on the paisanos. Was this ever an issue during its release or after?

Every chapter tells a little story. Each one revolves around getting wine. They all get drunk and afterwards they ruminate over what they learned.
