There once was a man who loved me, until he forgot every memory we've ever shared…

Gabriel Sinclair would forever be my first. My first best friend, my first kiss, my first love…and my first heartbreak. The accident that nearly took his life ripped the memory of me from his grasp—and for the last decades, I've let the guilt of that one terrible night keep us apart.

It took me years to make peace with the fact that he would no longer be in my life, so when he shows up as the architect for my new home, my world's tossed upside down. Now, I'm trapped in a loveless marriage, raising a child, while Gabriel stirs up feelings I thought long buried. It feels like my soul is waking up after years of being in a deep slumber—and my controlling husband will do whatever it takes to keep us apart.

I know I should push Gabriel away to protect him from the shadows surrounding me. Yet, I can't deny the hope that blooms whenever he's near—the chance that he might remember me, that we could reclaim the chapters of our story that we've lost.

Nothing good could come from us, but I can't help but wonder what would happen if this time...he stayed.

There once was a man who loved me… And now he's my only hope for tomorrow.

If You Stayed is a stunning second chance romance that I devoured. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book in less than 2 days, but I couldn’t put this one down. Gabriel and Kierra’s story made me smile, made me cry, and gave me hope.

Gabriel and Kierra meet again after two decades apart. Gabriel was the love of Kierra’s life. The only problem is, he doesn’t remember her. And she’s in a terrible marriage. It seems messy, right? Well, it is. Messy, complex, and what a ride it is… I loved watching these two find their way back to one another.

Brittainy Cherry writes my favorite words. She is a phenomenal storyteller and I love her characters and the hearts that they have. Gabriel was so special, Kierra was so strong, and Ava stole my heart. This, like most of Cherry’s books, was equal parts heart wrenching and heartwarming, but by the end I was crying happy tears. This is one of those books that I know will stay with me and I highly recommend!

Kierra’s world is thrown off its axis when the first man she ever loved suddenly appears in her life again. Unable to remember his past and the fateful event that changed their lives forever, Kierra is determined to keep him at a distance. But when her controlling husband hires Gabriel’s architecture firm to build their new home, close proximity leads both Kierra and Gabe to question newfound feelings.

If you are ever in search of an angsty romance, look no further than indie romance author Brittainy Cherry, who writes some of the best angst in the business. I always prepare myself to be emotionally wrecked (in the best way) and am never disappointed.

I found this story to be fresh and unique, and also completely engaging. I was desperate to learn more about what event had occurred in the past to get these characters to where they are when we start the book. We move forward both in the past, and in the present, bringing us to a pivotal inflection point in both as these characters are forced to make life-altering decisions.

While I enjoyed it overall, I did not necessarily love how everything wrapped up so neat and tidy in the end. Given the complex, emotional nature of the story, I would have thought a little messiness to end the story, even with an HEA, would have been preferable. That said, I still appreciate the story as a whole and how memorable these characters are. I have a feeling I’ll be thinking about them for a long time to come.

Read if you like:
▪️second chance
▪️forced proximity
▪️friends to more
▪️cinnamon roll hero
▪️dual POV and timelines

This book was almost perfect for me...I just wish it were a little longer bc there were some things I wish got more time.

Gabriel was the perfect man. Honestly, I loved him as a character. I rarely read about fully green flag men, but they never disappoint. Everything that happened to him had me in tears.

These characters are a little bit on the older side in the present; they are not in their 20s, they are more mature. I don't remember the exact age, but it made sense.

I'm not a hugely emotional person, very rarely will a book have me full on sobbing, but I did tear up multiple times for both of them. They went through so much, but the good thing is that they both came out of it stronger. They both came out it with each other's love and support.

Can I just say that Kierra's husband was an absolute asshole, mind my language, sorry. No spoilers, but that man did not get everything he deserved. What a gaslighting idiot. But honestly, my heart goes out to the woman in marriages with men like this. Narcissistic, gaslighting, manipulative, maybe even slightly misogynistic, and borderline crazy.

This book gives you the hurt before it gives you the happy, but you would be thankful for the hurt that comes before the ending.

Thank you to Brittainy Cherry, SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and NetGalley for this arc! 💕

Kierra + Gabriel

Those two have been pushed together by their parents when they were only eight years old. They hated each other. But that hate turned into friendship and love. But it all stopped after that car accident when they were 19.
Gabriel lost his memory of her - of everything. And his mother didn't want her in his life anymore.
Many years later he's the architect for her new house. The super modern tech house her husband wants to build.

...let the fun times begin...

══════════════════

description
description

Well. That was so sad and heartbreaking.
They lost so many years and now they could have something again. But! She's married and he's still not remembering her. Ugh.
Kierra is only staying in her marriage because of her step-daughter. She's her everything. Her husband is a horrible person.
And Gabriel is the absolute opposite of that. He's so sweet and perfect. But he still can't remember her. But tiny little things seem to pop up in his mind every now and then.
Will he hate her once he finds out the whole truth?
We hope not. We so want that super-delayed happily ever after for them all.
I really enjoyed reading it. It was sweet and sad and so many things.
Wouldn't mind watching this on TV one day!

Still not a fan of Brittainy over-using the words PRIOR. Ugh. I just hate that. Just say LAST NIGHT. Why say THE NIGHT PRIOR? Ew. But that's just a ME thing!
There were a few more 'writing things' that bothered me a bit. But pfft. Who cares. ME thing again.

IF YOU STAYED was such a sweet + heartbreaking + very late second chance love story. Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Gabriel - he'll be sold out in no time!

ARC Review

Brittainy Cherry does it again!! Wow, I felt all the emotions reading this one. Let me start of by saying this book has one of my least favorite tropes…amnesia, BUT if there’s one person I trust to be able to win me over with a novel that has that specific plot it’s the lovely Brittainy Cherry and boy did she destroy me in the best possible way with this book!!😭🫶🏻

Kierra and Gabriel deserve every ounce of love. Their story was heartbreaking, emotional, deep, and so complex. This story had the perfect flow and explored heavy themes with such deep care and recognition for what it is. There is no glorification. Sure the resolution of the story happened quickly, but I felt that was necessary for the amount of themes that are covered and discussed in this book. Kierra is such a beautiful character that I identify with so deeply. Her caring nature and gentleness, her wanting to do everything for everyone else to make sure they are okay, her determination and willpower to just simply get up everyday despite it all…each one of her traits is something I understand and deal with personally. Although her story is far different than mine, I see so much of myself in her. Reading this story gives me so much hope for my future. And Gabriel!!!😩What the kindest most loving man who deserves it all. He had such a beautiful ability to read people and their emotions so accurately. His patience, empathy, and reassurance is what won me over instantly. From his first introduction I knew I was going to love him and boy did he exceed all expectations. Gabriel is the man we all deserve. His story is so emotional, and with the flashbacks and present day structure of this story, despite what happened, he never lost the heart of himself. What a hopeful, genuine, emotional book that I will for sure be recommending!

Tropes:
-amnesia
-second chance
-failing marriage
-childhood friends

Gabriel Sinclair is the fairytale man, that every woman deserves. He’s kind, gentle, loving, caring, funny, romantic. He’s just perfect.

Kierra Hughes is in an unhappy marriage with Henry. He’s cold, controlling and manipulative. He’s basically the opposite of Gabriel. But from her marriage, she gained the love of her life, her step-daughter Ava. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for Ava, even if that means staying with Henry.

Gabriel and Kierra were childhood friends but tragedy separated them and Gabriel has no memories before the age of 20. Although his mind doesn’t remember her, it’s like his heart never forgot.

No-one, man or woman, should have to go through appalling treatment at the hands of the person who is supposed to love them. But sadly, the world is full of bullies, and thank the Lord, for people like Gabriel who rise up against bullies.

My heart was in my mouth reading this book. I was prepared for the hurt and pain ( I don’t have any triggers), so desperate for Kierra and Gabriel to reconnect and find love.

Really good read.

Warning: Triggers include emotional and physical abuse, cheating, sizeism, and loss of a child.

Given some of the triggers in this book, you can assume that this story has a good dose of angst. Something I really didn't factor into when I began reading. Did it help that I'm already on edge with everything going on in the world? Not really. So, I will say that it is best to be prepared going into this book. That said, the author does a great job covering all themes with the care they deserve, and showing how a woman, buried in grief and self-loathing, gains the support to turn her life around for the better.

This story is told in the past and present.
In the past, we learn how Kierra and Gabriel develop an eventual friendship, and then fall in love. A tragedy tears them apart, the details of which aren't clear for a while, other than Kierra blames herself.
In the present, the two are reunited, when Gabriel is hired by Kierra's husband, Henry, to design their house.
Two things made this reunion very interesting:
Gabriel has no memory of Kierra (a condition caused by the tragedy as teens).
Henry is a monumental jackass (and that's putting it nicely).
So, Kierra is put in the awkward position of wanting to be closer to Gabriel, but can't admit why. And leaving her marriage is even more complicated, which I won't get into.
Needless to say, cue the angst.

I loved Gabriel immediately. Not just that he is the polar opposite of Henry, but for how he treats Kierra and her daughter, Ava. He shows time and time again what a kind heart he has. As for Kierra, I truly felt sorry for her, especially with how she takes the abuse from Henry. It broke my heart.

Does Kierra deserve a HEA? Absolutely. But she has to work for believing she does as well, it's all part of the journey.

Overall, this book is worth a read, you just have to pull up your big girl panties and open a nice bottle of wine first. : )

This was my first read by Cherry (I know, I know) and it will definitely not be my last. If you’re in the mood for a beautiful written, bingeworthy story that is overflowing with emotion, look no further.

Gabriel and Kierra’s story was heartbreaking yet filled with hope and healing. I was sucked in right away and enjoying everything about it and then chapter 21 hit and holy crap I was ALL in and could not put it down. If You Stayed one takes you on a roller coaster of feels, including visceral hatred. It’s been a while since I have hated a character so much. I was in awe of how Brittany handles the tough subject matter with compassion and grace and shows us that there truly can be light at the end of a tunnel of darkness. All in all a fantastic intro to BCherry and I cannot wait to read more.

What I loved;
✨ Second Chance Romance
✨ Amnesia
✨ Past/Present Timelines
✨ Ava
✨ All the feels

I went in totally blind and would recommend doing the same. The subject matter may be sensitive to some readers so please check the TW’s.

Oh this was a good one. It starts off a little slow, not gonna lie—but even from the beginning, I was into it. There’s this quiet emotional pull that just grabs you. The whole vibe is soft, sad, a little tense, and totally addictive. I seriously could not put it down.

The story itself is beautiful and heartbreaking and full of that “what if” kind of love that just gets you. Brittainy’s writing is super easy to read—like, I breezed through it—but it still hits deep. There are so many lines that made me stop and go, ouch... but also wow.

And omg, the last part of the book?? I was on edge, trying to figure out where things were going and getting all up in my feels. Like... what is happening?? What’s gonna happen?? I love when a book keeps me guessing like that.

Honestly, if you love emotional romance, second chances, and stories that make your heart ache a little (or a lot), this one’s 100% worth the read.

I absolutely loved this story!
My heart went out to both of these characters! I desperately wanted to flip to the end to see the outcome but I stayed strong. Barely….
Kierra and Gabriel grew up as enemies which then turned into best friends which then turned into in love. They would have gone the distance - that’s how strongly they loved each other.
But something terrible happens only leaving one of them remembering. The other person cannot remember the first 19 years of their life. The one who could remember left forever blaming themself for the incident.
Very tragic.
Thankfully fate steps in 20 years later and they meet again

Kierra never expects to see her childhood friend and first love Gabriel ever again. After an accident that killed Gabriel's younger brother, Kierra was forced to stay away from the family especially after the accident stole Gabriel's memory. When Gabriel turns up as the lead architect on her new house, Kierra is thrown. And Gabriel has this funny feeling that he knows Kierra somehow...

Oh my goodness, what a story this was!! This second chance romance had so much emotion, especially as we were treated to the past storyline as well, where we got to see what happened to our characters prior to the accident. If you love your romances with more depth, then this one's for you. I can't wait to read more by this author.

As always, it was absolutely painful and yet so beautiful. I can't describe how beautifully Brittainy writes and how amazing her books are. She has never disappointed me, she always makes me absolutely fall in love with her characters or even see myself reflected in them.

This book was difficult for me to read, but I am still glad I finished it because many of the statements were so great and actually help me a lot.

“He was my hero for the longest time. How could my hero be my other hero’s worst nightmare?”

If i could i would immediately hug Kierra and Ava.

**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**

If You Stayed is an emotional and beautifully written second-chance romance that completely pulled me in. Brittainy Cherry has a way of writing love stories that feel raw and real, and this one was no exception.

Kierra and Gabriel’s story is filled with heartbreak, hope, and healing. Their connection felt so natural, and I loved seeing them find their way back to each other after everything they had been through. Gabriel was such a swoon-worthy book boyfriend, and Kierra’s journey—especially as she navigated her marriage and her past with Gabriel—made her an easy character to root for.

“Passing by people and places that felt so black and white. But Kierra felt like color. Not just any color, either. The most vibrant of tones, which made my heart pound wildly in my chest.”

Kierra’s daughter, Ava, was such a great addition to the story. She brought warmth and lightness to the book, and her interactions with Kierra and Gabriel made me smile. One of the things I loved most was how much the characters grew throughout the book. The emotions felt real, the pacing was just right, and I never wanted to put it down.

If you’re a fan of emotional second-chance romances, If You Stayed is definitely worth reading. It’s the kind of story that sticks with you long after you finish.

🤎

A heartbreaking story of second chance, redemption, forgiveness, destiny, faith in the future despite the devastating storms of the past. The story of two deep, complex kindred spirits who always feel and find each other in the midst of distance, loneliness and suffering.

Kierra is loving, kind, caring, selfless and deserves the world. Every time she struggled, went through hell, her little voice whispered, my heart bled. Then all her moments of kindness, tenderness, resilience and courage to break her chains healed my wounds. I loved feeling my heart being ripped out to see her fly away.

Gabriel is sweet, protective, kind, loving unconditionally, tender, seeing beyond your armor. He's that shelter that keeps you safe when your world is cruel, lets you feel, reassures you and sets the world on fire to protect you while facing his own past.

Brittainy Cherry is one of my “if she writes it, i'll read it”. She poetically writes about everything that's painful, heartbreaking and beautiful in life; deals with important topics with delicacy and accuracy, yet the romance doesn't belittle them but sublimates them to show that there's hope even when the shadows overwhelm us.

Once again, thank you Brittainy Cherry and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC !

Well this book obliterated my poor little heart. Gabriel and Kierra's journey was such a beautiful yet heartbreaking story to read. It speaks to the power of true love being able to heal a person's soul.

Kierra and Gabriel are childhood friends. They're reluctant friends at first, but soon develop a relationship that only kids can understand...just pure and innocent. As they grow, so does their relationship, and soon their feelings bloom into something more. I really like how the story was told in past/present timelines. We're introduced to past situations that have greatly impacted the current lives of both Kierra and Gabriel, and through that we get to experience the story in its rawest form.

This book tackles the topic of domestic violence in such a powerful way. Through Kierra's POV we get to experience her power, self doubt, sacrifice, love, temptation, and selflessness. Her husband Henry plays his villain role carefully and cunningly...the kind of snake, hiding in grass, waiting to strike. Kierra's character was easy to connect to. Right from the start we're shown her fragile side and just how sensitive her heart is when connecting with people. When she reconnects with Gabriel later in life it's a bit overwhelming how her emotions practically screamed from the pages.

Gabriel, my guy. I loved this man. He was so sweet as a kid, and grew into a special kind of man. The kind of man that just gets it. The way he stands up for the women in this book was absolutely spectacular... a true champion, and a man worthy of the fiercest love. I mean, he wasn't afraid to use his fists to get sweet revenge on disrespectful men. Thank you fine sir. But he's also fighting some pretty unique demons. He doesn't remember Kierra due to an accident that ripped them apart, so their reconnection is riddled with a lot of uncertainty, and of exploring feelings that have been long buried and forgotten.

Kierra and Gabriel had to figure out how to exist in each other's lives. Boundaries get crossed, buried emotions begin to manifest, and ever so slowly, hearts begin to heal. This is a messy situation and some pretty heavy topics get explored. I think this author handled this story perfectly, giving us a raw and real picture of Kierra and Gabriel's situation, while also giving us a story built on hope, strength, and resilience. We get to see soulmates find their way back to one another after tragedy, and it's a beautiful thing to see.

Notable side characters include Henry's Mom and daughter, and Gabriel's mom. Their inclusion server to amplify the underlying story of the power of love, and the hopelessness that women face with battling through toxic relationships.

Brittainy C. Cherry can never do wrong. Ever. It hasn't been a secret that I love every single word she's ever written and I will jump at the chance to read an ARC from her.

I have to start saying that if you read this book, please make sure you've read and understand all the trigger warnings, since this book tackles strong themes and has many scenes that can be triggering for some.

That being said, IF YOU STAYED is one of those love stories that break you but has all the power to heal you. Gabriel and Kierra had the kind of love we all wish for ourselves because it's so selfless, so beautiful and puts pieces together when everything is falling apart. That's the magic of BCC's characters, the chemistry and the love between them is so real that it actually convinces you that there's a similar love out there waiting for you.

"It makes sense that I loved you, because when I first saw you... I didn't know you, but I could feel you."

I felt so hard in my heart for Kierra. Her pain was so real, her realization that she was being abused was so hard to read but at the same time I really appreciated how BCC wrote it as part as her growth as a character. Her love for Gabriel and her desire to be with him was part of that growth too, because she already knew how love looked like and felt like and she knew she deserved more. I also felt deeply for her relationship with Ava. The found family aspect of the book was simply beautiful, I loved how they loved each other and how Ava chose her above all.

And how could I not fall in love with sweet Gabriel? He was patient and kind and already knew how to love Kierra because he never stopped loving her. I really enjoyed seeing his healing process and how despite everything that went down, he was still present and ready to defend Kierra and Ava. It was such a beautiful thing to read.

The book overall made me tear up, cringe in certain parts for the sake of Kierra and feel hopeful and inspired with such a beautiful, healing romance as only BCC can do it. She is simply a master of words and a real Romance artist. She knows the genre and writes it exactly as it should be written. I had been craving to read another heart-wrenching, swoony and inspiring romance from her for so long and I got exactly what I needed.

I received this ARC from Brittainy C. Cherry and Sourcebooks Casablanca through Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

To everyone else, Kierra Hughes appeared to have an enviable life, but deep down, her soul was suffering. An unexpected reconnection with her long-lost first love, Gabriel Sinclair, could throw both of their lives into a tailspin.

Gabriel was practically an angel—perfection personified. I would have preferred to see some flaws and vulnerabilities. Kierra, on the other hand, carried the weight of her struggles with quiet strength. I was glad they found each other again.

“It’s difficult to be near you at times,” he confessed quietly.
“Why’s that?”
He paused, a look of resigned affection in his eyes. “Because once you’re gone, you have a way of occupying every thought I have for the rest of the day.”

The story was heartbreaking in more than one way. It was engaging, realistic, and at times enraging.

If You Stayed is a story of guilt and atonement. It would appeal to readers who enjoy an emotional second-chance romance.

Gabriel Sinclair was Kierra's best friend and her first love but he also was her first heartbreak when a tragic accident took his memory and someone he loved dearly.
Keirra rebuilt her life, trying to come to terms with the fact that he would no longer be part of her life. Trapped in a loveless marriage, only made tolerable because of the love she has for her step-daughter Ava. Almost 20 years after the accident her life changes when Gabriel comes back into her life, he just so happened to be the architect for her new home. His mother warned her again to stay away but she knows this time she can't. Gabriel doesn't understand how drawn he is to her and soon becomes her only hope of surviving her controlling husband.

Wow what a beautifully written story, this literally broke my heart and pulled it back together and healed it.
I loved that it was old in dual POV, you could really understand both Gabriel and Keirra's emotions as the were navigating their feelings. the pacing was perfection, slowly building up the picture of the tragedy when they were teens, Kierra clearly carried so much guilt and I was praying that once Gabriel knew the whole truth that he could find it in his heart to forgive her.
Kierra's husband Henry is a controlling, cheating evil man, the way he gaslights her is awful, even their pre-nup means she will loose access to Ava should they divorce, something Kierra can't risk.
As the story develops the bonds between Gabriel and Kierra naturally develop again, in such a beautiful way, a glimpse into what her life could have looked like is she has stayed.
Gabriel is an absolute sweetheart, not only when it comes to Kierra but also to Ava. He takes her under his wing when he offers her a work experience at his firm, she has a natural talent which he helps to nurture but more than that he give her the strength to believe in her self worth and to escape the bullies who taunted her.
Love is a four letter word, easy to throw around but its those who show up and prove their worth that are truly capable of showing love, Keirra and Ava deserve Gabriel.
It's not often I read a book that I could re-read in the future but this is one of those. A true 5 star for me.
The tropes are: Amnesia, Childhood friends and Second chance.

A true second chance romance. This book touches on so many topics including abuse {physical, emotional and verbal}, loss of a loved one, grief, guilt but most of all love. Brittainy Cherry has delivered an emotionally charged book with wonderful characters and a poignant story.

Life is never predictable and your course uncharted. One night changes the lives of Gabriel and Kierra and sends them off into the world alone.

Kierra has done well for herself if you look at her life from the outside in. Married to a very wealthy and powerful man, mother to a beautiful girl and a successful therapist. Sadly her loving husband isn't so loving behind closed doors.

Gabriel has moved on the accident that left him with no memory of his childhood and built a very successful architectural firm. When his work takes him to his clients home for a party Kierra and Gabriel cross paths but their reunion is only one sided since Gabriel doesn't remember her.

I loved their connection. It was as if they were tethered together at their souls. Gabriel feeling a connection and calm from just being near or spending time with Kierra.

I like the relationship that Gabriel forged with Ava too. His "fatherly instincts" to nurture her dreams and protect her ay all costs.

Once all of the secrets of their past were revealed the healing began. Gabriel and Kierra started to forge a new friendship but their feelings were definitely growing stronger day by day.

But her marriage to Henry was not just something she could walk away from. Years of "programming" her to play her role as the dutiful wife and threats of taking Ava from her kept her exactly where Henry wanted her.

Can she break the chains of her marriage and reclaim her 1st love and the life they have missed out on? Will Kierra and Gabriel overcome the obstacles in their path and prove that love conquers all?

“My soul always knew you, and it called out your name every single day.”

If You Stayed was a tragically beautiful and heartbreakingly emotional love story of two soulmates torn apart by tragedy and reunited in the strangest twist of fate. Gabriel and Kierra’s second chance story was a touching and complex story that absolutely touched my heart and took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride that I will not soon forget.

“Loving him wasn’t simply a choice; it was my destiny.”

My heart broke for Kierra and the life that she built after Gabriel. While everyone else thinks she’s living the perfect life, at home, her husband is emotionally and physically abusive and tears her down at every turn. Yet she has a beautiful spirit and the will to survive even in her darkest days.

“It makes sense that I loved you, because when I first saw you…I didn’t know you, but I could feel you. And when I felt you, I didn’t feel lost anymore.”

Gabriel doesn’t remember his first love after a tragic accident left him with amnesia. When Kierra reenters his life, she strikes a chord in him that brings him to life for the first time since his accident. He’s determined to get to know the woman who haunts his every thought.

“If I lost my memory every single day for the rest of my life, I would still find my way back to loving you. I’d love every version of you.”

The longing and bond between Kierra and Gabriel is palpable. You can feel it through the pages even when Gabriel doesn’t understand why there seems to be that string that connects them. This is a story that is not for the faint of heart and will absolutely gut you, but it’s also a beautiful story about the resiliency of the human spirit and how two souls that are meant to be together will inevitably find one another no matter what tries to keep them apart. If You Stayed was a beautiful, emotional and poignant read that will give you all the FEELS.

Dear BC,

First off, thank you for the tears and the profound journey through your words.

This book is a sanctuary for women who have endured the storms of abuse, providing a place where they can be seen, understood, and mourn—a mourning not born out of weakness, but a testament to the courage it takes to embrace the next step, even when it is shrouded in uncertainty.

The genuine and raw nature of falling in love is captured beautifully in your narrative, where vulnerability becomes a gateway to self-discovery and healing. It’s in this tender space that readers find a reflection of their own experiences, transforming pain into strength.

A line like, "Maybe some people aren't meant to be happy, maybe some people are meant to be heartbroken," resonates deeply, urging readers to clutch their pillows tighter as they softly cry themselves to sleep. Such poignant words linger long after the page is turned.

BC, you have a remarkable ability to touch the heart and resonate with the human spirit. You speak to the essence of what it means to be a woman, illuminating that extraordinary resilience that defies the simplistic question: "Why would you stay?" This book beautifully exemplifies the strength it takes for a woman to leave, showcasing that even in moments of perceived weakness, she is at her strongest, her bravest.

Your narrative gracefully identifies the complex beauty of grief and how it drives one to love others deeply, sometimes at the expense of self-care. Each chapter's words align with key milestones, painting a vivid portrait of the journey to self-reclamation.

And those delightful nods to nostalgic treasures, like the mention of "Smart House," serve as a charming introduction to cherished memories, adding layers of relatability and warmth.

Thank you for reminding us that we are, indeed, beautiful.

“Kierra, you feel like the whole f–king galaxy wrapped up in one human being. I’m not saying that to convince you to want me over Henry. I’m telling you this because I need you to feel how I feel for you. I need you to look into the mirror and know that you are the whole f–king universe wrapped in one. And you deserve better than anything that man can give you.

- second chance romance

POV: An accident tore away your first love’s memories and you from him. Twenty years later, you’re a therapist with a 14-year-old stepdaughter in a loveless marriage, and he re-enters your life as the architect building your family’s new home.

This is Brittainy at her angsty, emotional, heartwrenching best. If you want an emotional roller coaster, this book is for you. She expertly builds the tension so you viscerally feel all the feelings (anger, sadness, shock, and heartbreak included) as you wait for the bomb to drop. But oh, how the HEA is so unforgettably worth it. Even if you have to work to get to it!

Kierra and Gabriel are the definition of soulmates. Their reunion twenty years later is fate personified, and the flashbacks help seal the deal. They’re both dealing with old feelings resurfacing, even if Gabriel doesn’t remember the past.

As Ava says, Gabriel is a man, and it is written by a woman. The way he treats Kierra is so soft, tender, and heartwarmingly beautiful. He’s honest, patient, forgiving, and perfectly protective of her. Most importantly, he sees and appreciates the real Kierra, as she can only be her true self around him.

He also shares such a special bond with Ava and don’t even get me started on the empowering moment he shares with her. I cried at the beach reading it! Rosie is the much-needed comic relief to balance out the heavier storylines.

Angsty girlies, PLEASE add this to the TBR!

Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the early copy!

If You Stayed is a standalone title written by Brittainy Cherry.

Expected release date of April 22, 2025

*Amnesia
*Marriage in crisis
*Second chance

When two souls are tangled in forever…

After reading the description of this book I was worried that it would be too much for me to handle. Cheating has, and will always be, one of my triggers. Spousal abuse is the other. I was so worried!

However, Brittainy Cherry is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I knew I could trust her to make me fall in love with this book, regardless of the triggers.

Gabriel and Kiera were childhood friends, and high school love interests, until a tragic accident ripped them apart. Gabriel was left with no memory of Keira, and she was pushed away by Gabriel’s mother due to the accident.

Twenty years later, Gabriel has been hired as an architect by Kiera’s husband. What transpires is a new friendship, recovered memories, and a reconnection of two soul mates.

If you have never given this author a chance before, read this book!! It will truly make you believe in the power of soul mates.

I listed the trigger warnings below, your mental health is more important than anything. Do not read if any of these will cause you to experience negative feelings.

TW: on page spousal physical, verbal, and mental abuse, cheating, death of a child

I love Brittainy’s stories because she writes emotional, warm, wholesome stories with some or a lot of angst to keep us invested.
I always fall hard for her characters and that happened in If You Stayed.

If You Stayed is an emotional second chance story on a background of grief, guilt and abuse.
And yet, it doesn’t feel dark thanks to Kierra’s solar personality and Gabriel whole support for Kierra.

The trope is pretty straightforward: after being childhood sweetheart, Gabriel and Kierra separated after a horrible accident. Said accident left sequels for Gabriel and a huge guilt for Kierra.
She never was the same and bore a profound feeling of guilt, something that will lead her to live in a toxic relationship because she doesn’t think she deserves something perfect.
Years later, they will reunite and… you will have to read to know what happens!

Going back and forth between present and past, between Kierra and Gabriel’s point of view, Brittainy weaves a deeply emotional story with wonderful characters.
You also have an evil villain, Henry and a sweet girl, Ava.

Kierra is a strong yet fragile heroine who will have a whole journey in the book. I would love to count her as my friend!
And Gabriel is the strong, handsome and supportive type, my favorite kind of hero!

I read that story very quickly, totally invested in the romance and the drama, with heart pounding at some part of the story. A very good Brittainy Cherry and a very good contemporary romance!
