A twisty, gripping novel that wraps around a deeply moving love story, from an electric new voice in upmarket women’s fiction.
SHE THOUGHT IT WAS FATE. I KNEW IT WASN'T....
Honor seems to have she adores her bright and beautiful daughter, Chloe, and her charming, handsome husband, Tom, even if he works one hundred hours a week. Yet Honor’s longing for another baby threatens to eclipse all of it―until a shocking event changes their lives forever.
Years later, Tom makes a decision that ripples through their families' lives in ways he could never have foreseen. As the consequences of that fateful choice unfold, two women's paths become irrevocably intertwined. But when old love clashes with new, who will be left standing? And what happens when your secrets come back to haunt you?
Blending a thrilling moral dilemma with satisfying emotional poignancy, Finding Grace is a sweeping love story that explores the price of a new beginning, how the ghosts of our past shape our future, and whether redemption can be found in the wreckage of what we've lost.
Wow! This is a phenomenal debut! I almost passed this book up, but the cover made me do a double take 😉, and I am so glad that I read this! This book took me by surprise, and just sucked me right in. There were many emotions throughout this book, and I even cried early on in Chapter Two!
I feel that I cannot give even the briefest description of what this book is about, because then I feel I would be giving away major spoilers. I suggest picking this book up, and just reading the pages. You will fall in love with Honor, Tom, and Grace. You will feel their thoughts, and feel each ounce of pain and grief that they go through.
This book is unlike any book that I have ever read, and I love the uniqueness. I learned many new things/facts from reading this book, and I now have a new favorite poem, “Hymn to Beauty” ~ by Baudelaire.
This book is about grieving, it’s heartbreaking, it’s about finding love again. I just loved everything about it! I say add this book to your shelf immediately as it is worth it! (4.5 stars- rounded up!)
Many thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and the author for a DRC of this book which I had the pleasure of reading. All opinions are my own. Publication date: June 10, 2025
This really disappointed me. I don’t think this book was for me.
I was expecting more from it because the first chapter actually made me go, "Hahh??!!" The ending of that chapter came out of nowhere. I thought the book would be gut-wrenching and emotionally devastating, but instead, it went downhill from there.
I didn’t like Tom’s character. Honestly, I didn’t like any of the characters in this book. That made it even harder to stay engaged.
This book made me lose interest and drained my motivation to finish both this book and another one I was reading. It took me a long time to get through it.
Note: Thank you to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Is there someone you know? You’re loving them so But taking them all for granted? You may lose them one day Someone takes them away And they don't hear the words you long to say I would give anything I own I'd give up my life, my heart, my home I would give everything I own Just to have you back again Just to touch you once again ~ Everything I Own written by David Gates, performed by Bread.
The publisher kept the premise extremely vague, so I will do the same.
Tom, Honor and Chloe make the perfect little family, and Honor is focused on adding another baby to their family. If only they could have foreseen the future…
Simply put, this book is about love, loss, and renewal.
The book starts off with a big bang, then settles into a steady flow. I was deeply immersed in the storyline and thoroughly vested in seeing how this was going to work out.
This was a debut from Loretta Rothschild. I would definitely be interested in reading her future books.
🎧 the audio is narrated by Fiona Button who gave a brilliant performance.
4.5-5⭐️ I am purposefully omitting a synopsis here as there is virtually no way to share one without spoiling this book. If you notice the publisher’s synopsis - there is next to nothing about the overall plot. I am therefore going to keep my review short, sweet, and to the point.
I really had to parse out my feelings towards this book versus my feelings towards the MMC. I struggled very hard to connect with him and his decisions throughout the entirety of the book. I think the narration itself really amped up my dislike of him, and I would be so curious as to why the author used the narrator she did.
And yet, and yet, I think the quality of the story, the writing, the character development is outstanding, particularly for a debut novel. Hence my very complicated feelings towards this story, and another reason it is becoming a standout to me - it’s clearly lingering in my psyche even days later.
🎧 I chose to do this as an immersive read, utilizing both the physical/ebook and the audiobook, to fully immerse myself in the story. Fiona Button does an outstanding job of bringing this emotionally wrought story to life.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copies.
Be prepared to laugh, cry, and feel your jaw drop.
From its explosive start, this knockout domestic drama was riveting, gasp-worthy, unpredictable, and unputdownable.
Poignant, compelling, twisty, emotionally jolting, and character-driven, the author brilliantly explores love, heartbreak, parenthood, and resilience with her unique signature style.
TW: Secondary infertility.
This is talented author Loretta Rothschild's first book and it is a very, very impressive debut.
I listened to the audiobook, expertly narrated by Fiona Button.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the author’s debut novel with an unusual perspective and deep emotional resonance. The book's synopsis gives a brief overview of what to expect, but it's just a taste of the story. I won't say more, as I think it's best if you read the story without spoilers. Fortunately, the synopsis itself doesn’t spoil anything.
The novel depends a lot on character development. The characters, be it Grace, Honor, or Tom, are all given their due, and throughout the book, we see a lot of character growth in them. Their relationships give the story lots of dramatic and emotional weight.
This is a beautifully written debut novel. Loretta Rothschild’s prose is lyrical, making this character-driven story a pleasure to read. I’d expect nothing less from literary fiction. I think the author has delivered in that aspect.
There is a bit of mystery surrounding the characters, especially Grace, and this makes the plot more interesting. It is indeed one of the slow-burning varieties, but that is not a bad thing. The novel exhibits several important themes that many readers could relate to, like grief, loss, healing, and emotional connection.
The narrative structure alternates between the present and the past, which enhances understanding of the characters and their perspectives. With the gentle pacing, it feels like peeling layer after layer from the story until reaching the core. Finding Grace is undoubtedly among the best stories I have read this year.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC of this book.
This storyline is very different from the books I usually gravitate towards. The plot explores themes of profound loss, resilience, and the power of new beginnings. While I didn't completely connect with the characters, that does not diminish the author's skill in creating figures that possess depth and authenticity. The narration was quite unique; that’s about all I can say without revealing the opening hook of the book. It was certainly an impactful read, and although the depiction of grief felt raw and genuine, I found some parts a bit redundant, whiny, and immature.
Part of me wants to suggest skipping this book, but just because it wasn't for me doesn't mean it's a bad book. For its genre, I would say this book checks all the boxes. If you’re looking for a story that will tug at your heartstrings and evoke deep emotions, look no further. "Finding Grace" is a deeply moving narrative that lingers in your thoughts long after you’ve turned the final page.
However, if general fiction isn't your forte and you prefer sci-fi, fantasy, romance, or thrillers, then this may not be the right choice for you. Overall, it is a poignant and well-written story that offers significant emotional depth. 3.5 stars.
Thank you, St. Martin's Press, for providing me with this ARC. The expected publication date is June 10, 2025.

Every year, Honor, Tom, and their daughter Chloe spend Christmas at the Ritz in Paris. Unfortunately, both Honor and Chloe are killed in a terrorist attack by a suicide bomber in the lobby of the hotel. After arriving back home in London, Tom receives a phone call that Jess, both Tom and Honor's surrogate mother, is pregnant.
After Honor and Chloe's funeral, Tom sells his hedgefund and becomes a full-time father to Henry. Then, one day, Tom receives a letter from the egg donor agency revealing the name of the anonymous person. He decides to deliver the letter to Grace, the egg donor, in person and finds himself falling in love with her.
I loved this beautiful love story about two people who come together despite tragic circumstances.

I went into. this book blind, not really knowing the full plot, simply that it was about family and forgiveness - two of my favorite tropes.
I recommend you go in blindly yourself, because the first chapter shook me to my core. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THIS BOOK WAS ABOUT!!!
Finding Grace is Loretta Rothschild debut novel and what a stunning one it is. Honor is a loving mom to Chloe, along with her successful husband Tom, who live in London. Until a tragic incident happens and everything is upended.
Finding Grace is about true love, fate, and honesty. It's about forgiving oneself and being a parent. How does one find happiness after tragedy strikes? Only time will tell.
This book was incredibly sad, but there were parts that made me laugh, especially with some of the side characters. There are times, as the I was confused with the narrator's tone of voice and the actual story, but that could just be me. Especially since we are seeing this from a point of view that most readers are not accustomed to. Again, go into this book blindly and you will know what I mean!
It reads as a a dramatic thriller of sorts, but also a story of redemption. Don't miss this when it comes out on June 10th!!
FINDING GRACE is a story I won't stop thinking about. In the first chapter something happens that sets the tone for the entire book. I think the author is brilliant and I'll be reading more of her books. I would definitely go into this one blind. It's hard to discuss otherwise.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my gifted ALC.
This review will be shared to my Instagram account @coffee.break.book.reviews closer to publication date. that anytime soon, without revealing too much of the story! Enjoy!
I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to St. Martin's Press for choosing me.
This is an incredible book and should be on everyone's TBR, immediately.
It is completely devastating in the first few pages, and yet it is enchanting the entire way through. I was not expecting the tragic event that tore Honor and Chloe from Tom. The unimaginable pain and grief were felt in every word, but so was the infinite love he had for them. The story is narrated by Honor in her afterlife as she watches Tom struggle with grief, and then later gets to watch him find his footing with Henry. There is a powerful story within the pages as Honor can see him come back to himself. Even more beautiful, is watching him fall in love with Grace and with life again. Was he perfect? No. Should he have been honest from the start? Most definitely, but I agree with Colette, Grace probably would've thought him crazy and run for the hills before she opened herself to him. Was it deceitful and betraying? Yes, but (I never thought I would say this) there was a good reason for the omission, and although I wanted to be mad at him, I never was because I knew and understood why he felt the need to keep it from Grace.
I loved Oliver and Annie but only tolerated Lauren. From the very beginning, she irritated me, and I couldn't put my finger on the why, and then that last bit at the end just cemented it. She is a terrible person. No one who loves you would do that to you. No matter what.
I loved every one of the Sunday Blues women and their friendship with Grace. It was heartwarming and wonderful.
This entire book, from beginning to end, was tragic, beautiful, wretched, and full of all-encompassing love. Every single passage had a purpose. I cried and I laughed, I screamed at Tom, I cried some more, and by the end, my heart was happy and full to the brim with love for him, for Henry, for Honor and Chloe, and, of course, for Grace. It is a story that will remain with me for a long time. I know it will be in the back of my mind, waiting for the moment I can talk about it to someone, anyone who is willing to listen and take a chance on this heartbreakingly gorgeous book.

This captivating novel touches many emotions. Infertility, surrogacy, profound grief after a traumatic loss and then the eventual resumption of a new relationship. Keeping secrets is never good for a relationship and the secret in this story caused a great deal of stress and pain for all involved. From the very beginning I was drawn into the book and I felt deep empathy for the main characters. What made the story unusual is that the narrator here is dead and she is telling the story as she watches over her husband and child. I was so ready for a five star read and Finding Grace was just that for me.
Finding Grace, the debut novel from Loretta Rothschild, left me repeatedly uttering three words: “Oh. My. God.” It's hard to believe this is her first novel. From the explosive opening chapters, this literary fiction grips you and refuses to let go until the final pages. I can't recall reading a book with such a unique concept or opener. We meet Honor, her husband Tom, and their daughter Chloe, celebrating the holidays in Paris. Despite the festive season, the atmosphere is tense as the parents bicker about their family's future. Honor is content but yearns for more, including welcoming another baby through a surrogate, whom the quarreling parents have codenamed “Dunkirk.” On Christmas morning, everything changes, leaving the characters—and the reader—to pick up the pieces. Rothschild masterfully explores themes of loss, mourning, and love with sensitivity and respect. The heavy moments are handled with care, and the characters feel three-dimensional and alive. To reveal more would risk spoilers, so I'll keep it vague. If the book description intrigues you, stop reading my review and pre-order this book immediately.
While I enjoyed my time with Finding Grace, there are moments that require a suspension of disbelief. The main conflict could be resolved if the characters were more honest and communicative, especially as the situation spirals out of control. Without this conflict, there would be no story, but it's a minor qualm I had. Another small gripe is a twist near the end that felt more like an eye-roll than a WOW moment. It seemed to come out of nowhere from a character I wasn't particularly fond of. Finding Grace is a debut like no other, and I'm excited for others to check it out. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC.
Finding Grace by Loretta Rothschild is an engrossing literary fiction novel of love, loss, grief and healing. I don’t want to give too much away in my review, because it’s best to go into it blindly. Suffice to say, the story grabbed me from the surprising, explosive beginning and held my attention until the very end. I couldn’t put it down; I just had to know how this story would end. It’s a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, told from an original and surprising point of view. I enjoyed the cast of both sympathetic and morally ambiguous characters, as well as the often hilarious side characters. I rooted for MMC Tom’s happiness, but it was such a struggle to forgive his abundance of lies and increasingly deceptive behavior. Overall this is such an impressive debut novel that I highly recommend! I was able to listen to the audio version and follow along with the print version, and would highly recommend either format. 4/5⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio for advanced copies of this novel. Consider pre-ordering, it’s available 6/10/25
For fans of family drama with plenty of ups and downs followed by a happy ending. The first chapter had one of the most shocking events I've ever come across, and I was hooked from that moment on. The two women in this novel, Ana and Grace, revolve around Tom, the male lead. But what's unique about this very unusual love story is the supporting cast of Tom's longtime friends. I found the ending a bit "too" tidy given the circumstances, but overall, a very engaging story about second chances. Thanks to @libro.fm for the gifted audiobook.
4★ Thank you to Netgalley and Loretta for the ARC! What a beautiful story I had the honor of reading!
I enjoy spoiler free reviews, so mine will always be exactly that!
We follow our (mostly) main Character Tom, through life after a Life altering event changes everything he's ever known in an instant. We watch/follow him through navigating Loss, Grief, Finding new love and so much more.
What I liked- The plot- Very real and raw, Not at all what I was expecting by reading the blurb. I'm very happy to say I'm glad it wasn't what I was expecting. The characters are all pretty well explored and wonderful or awful in there own human ways. The story itself wasn't some far fetched one you wouldn't believe, but still heart wrenching at every angle.
The POV- This was something new for me and It was very interesting to say the least. This one is hard to explain without spoilers, so ill just say its unique!
How real it was - this one was so well done, realistic and raw when it came to how this story would play out in a real life situation. You understand every characters choice, and every feeling Tom has in regards to grief and loss is one I'm sure many others can understand.
The end- Loved it. perfect ending IMO that's all cover- just love it gotta put that out there
What I didnt -
Spicy scenes? - Im never one to be shy or really hate on a good spicy scene. With this one though It felt a bit off with how the story is told. Just felt a bit unnecessary for me and almost weird. brevity in these sections would have sufficed. I never mind a spicy scene but mostly when it makes sense or adding to the story. which here it didn't feel necessary.
Beginning- This was actually one of my favorite parts. I just wish we had More of it. I really liked Honor, and I wish we could've had some more of her and her relationship dynamic with Tom before, You know.
A husband and father who loses his wife and daughter in a devastating act of terrorism searches for love once again when he meets someone completely unexpected. This has an original and intriguing plot line. It is not the typical type of book I read. It is more of a romance than anything, but it is a feel good story. I got a little tired and bored with some of the protagonist’s repetitive behavior and wanted the plot to move along a little more quickly at times. This will appeal to readers looking for something light and uncomplicated with a fresh storyline.
Many thanks to Netgalley, Edelweiss, St. Martin’s Press and Loretta Rothschild for my complimentary e-book ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
WOW!!! This is a debut??? I can’t believe this is a debut!!! It is so beautifully complicated. It’s a mixture of character and plot driven! I haven’t read a lit-fit like this, in a long time. I felt like I was reading a Telenovela (soap opera). This love story is a page-turner and twisty!!!
There were some very emotional moments and moments where I just laughed out loud! The characters were beautifully written even with their complex personalities. I loved the unique narrative of the story. I can’t wait for you all to read this one!
Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review! It's hard to believe this is a debut novel. The writing is fantastic, the characters are great, and the feelings invoked are not usually something that happens for me with a new author. This story was different than anything else I've read. It's told from a very unique perspective (I don't want to give anything away so I'm being vague on purpose). I loved most of the characters. I loved the way grieving and grief is portrayed and how everyone kind of has their own way of processing the events in the story. The ending seemed a little rushed, I would have loved to see how the lives of the main characters played our after the surprise reveal at the end. I read this book solely based on the recommendation of Jodi Picoult and I'm glad I did! If your looking for a unique, surprising, emotional read, you should check out this new author! I can't wait to read her next book!
This was such a great debut novel about grief. I went in totally blind, and I feel like that was the best way to go into this book. The last chapter was a bit cheesy for me, but overall I really enjoyed this!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for sending me this book!
When I read the synopsis, I was expecting a story about women, AKA "women's fiction" as promised in the blurb. I was NOT expecting the ghost of a murdered wife narrating how her husband, an actual sociopath, started hooking up with her doppelgänger, who doesn't know she's the biological mother of his only surviving child (via egg donation). I wasn't aware that Women's Fiction existed to tell the story of a toxic man and his son.
So Tom manipulates, gaslights and straight up lies to Grace about almost EVERYTHING from moment one. In fact, he tracks her down against her explicit wishes and then lies to her about why he's in her place of business. And every time he has an opportunity to tell the truth, he doubles down on the lies. He encourages Grace to believe in a fictional version of their relationship and he's more than ok allowing this woman that he "loves" to enter into a marriage and build a family under false pretenses. As long as HE'S happy, am I right? THEN he gets irritated that his friends aren't lining up to support his falsehoods, and he guilts them when they urge him to tell Grace the truth. The only reason I kept reading was in the hopes that he got some sort of comeuppance... and somehow, even after this happens, we're still supposed to be rooting for him! What the actual fuck?? His friends encourage him to chase her down again after 6 months of her ignoring his efforts, like is EVERYONE stupid in this town? And then... AND THEN SHE COMES BACK TO HIM AT CHRISTMAS WITH THE BLESSING OF ALL HER FEMALE FRIENDS WHO ARE FULLY AWARE OF WHAT HE'S DONE TO HER. (Grown-ass women who, BTW, are referred to as "girls" throughout this work of "Women's Literature".)
And guess what else happens? The VILLAIN of this story is the only woman willing to tell Grace the truth about Tom's gaslighting, because bitches be crazy, I guess? And in the end, a genuinely good woman settles for a miserable piece of shit and I guess this is a victory. Whatever.
Man, this story sucks.
I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for access to a digital ARC. My honest review is my own opinion.

Wow, I am speechless!! This is a profound, unique, and thought provoking debut novel. I read this in one sitting.
This is a twisty book with romance elements. I truly can’t even say a single word about what the book is about. There is a huge plot twist in chapter one. I’d say it’s best to go into this one blind. There are some potential triggers around infertility, though, so be mindful of that if you are sensitive to that topic.
The dynamic of Honor, Tom, Grace, and their friends really adds to the depth of this story. The characters all felt so real. I’d be interested to get other readers’ thoughts on Tom’s character. 🤔 And the whole thing being told from Honor’s POV - loved that 🥹
🍰 “Was this cruel or was this a saving grace?” 🍰 “If you’re feeling guilty, ‘Can we talk about something?’ is one of the most terrifying questions.
Whew this book started off with a bang that I really didn’t see coming. I feel like the first half of this book had me on my toes trying to see how it would pan out… but the second half? Well it didn’t really go as well as I was hoping.
The way the story was told was interesting, but I just didn’t believe in the romance. It felt a little too instant love and I was hoping for more pining, more depth in the relationship.
I think that the ending is what I was expecting, but the best part of the book was the author exploring grief.
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC!
Touches the heart. If you love love and love stories this book is for you. It drew me into the story and into the characters. The premise of how they meet is very interesting and fantastic start. The beginning happened so fast it shocked me. I adored this book..
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book
Thank you to Libro FM and the publisher/author for the ARC!
I was really impressed with this debut, fans of literary fiction with Sally Rooney vibes will probably love this as well.
A strong narrative voice follows a family dealing with the complications of life changing events. A deep look at marriage between two tragically flawed characters. This is a story of grief from every fucked up place grief takes you.
There was a line, something to the effect of "grief isn't an oyster you can't swallow it in one go" (I had the audiobook so I can't find the exact line again haha) and that is absolutely this book in a nutshell.
The writing is strong, the story compelling I read it so fast. I will absolutely keep my eyes peeled for more from this author. My biggest critique is I feel like the book would have been stronger ending like 4 chapters early. I would have preferred a sharp ending rather than a hopeful one because I'm a glutton for pain. Absolutely fabulous debut!!
