★★★★! Looking Inside (stand-alone). Museum librarian sets out to seduce the stranger she’s been obsessing over!

“For the first time in her life, she wasn’t wearing any underwear in public, but the sexual charge she experiences was shockingly strong.”

Looking Inside (stand-alone) is a story centered around voyeurism. It’s a journey that museum librarian Eleanor Briggs, Nora embarks on after looking inside the bedroom of a handsome stranger in the building next door.

She watches him seduce, command and fuck women into oblivion...

After obsessing for a year she sets out to seduce him by posing as a vixen. Entrepreneur Trey Riordan has no idea he is being observed. When a sexy beauty crosses his path and undresses him with her eyes he’s intrigued.

A game of cat-and-mouse has begun and Trey will quickly take charge…

Off-the chart sex have them coming back for more. But Nora struggles to keep up the facade, while Trey forges ahead until it all comes crashing down with confessions and truths.

Seven words to describe Trey Riordan: Commanding, charming, noble, private, refined, reflective and self-assured.

Seven words to describe Eleanor Briggs, Nora: Determined, confused, insecure, meek, lonely, smart and unassuming.

Looking Inside, told from dual POVs, is mixture of an erotic tale and a journey of looking within and finding oneself.

Sexy! Fast paced! Feel-good!

➦I have used this pic before but it's just so purrfect for this book, I can't NOT use it.

➦Because, seriously, the heroine here is obsessed with watching a guy in the building opposite hers engage in all kinds of sexy times. And he is nothing like this dude here

➦Good for us, because this makes for a great story :D For everyone who loves erotica and voyeurism/exhibitionism this book is hot hot hot! I did also enjoy the character development here so it wasn't all sex on top of sex. This was more about build-up and seduction, which suited me just fine.

➦Once the heroine finally gets enough courage to approach the hero she uses the most interesting ways to seduce him. She isn't really acting like herself, she has never been as bold and as confident but the poor bastard is unable to resist her.

➦And THAT, in itself, pisses him off big time. Because he's used to having CONTROL! Well, tough shit :D

➦Is he going to be able to tame her? What are their stories, anyways? Why is she pretending to be this skillful seductress? Read the book and find out! :)

She’d fantasized incessantly about what it would be like to be with him. But she hadn’t prepared herself to be owned by him.

Why have I not read more books by this author? I've enjoyed the few that I've read so I'm not sure what the answer to that question is, but I know I'll be rectifying that mistake immediately! I love a romance that's set in my hometown of Chicago, especially one that's as vivid as this one. I could practically see everything described in my mind's eye as I was reading.

Looking Inside is an incredible sensual tale of one woman finally gathering the strength to be comfortable in her own skin and own her sexuality. After the death of her beloved older sister that she's idolized all her life, Eleanor Briggs makes a decision to change her life. She moves into her sister's condo in the city, begins to changer her mousy librarian wardrobe for her sister's more sultry sophisticated one, and then she decides to seduce the object of her temptation...the intensely sexy neighbor that she sees from her apartment window. After watching the stranger bed one woman after another, Eleanor knows that she wants him...and she's not above seduction games to grab his attention.

After one too many disastrous relationships, Trey Riordan decides that celibacy is his answer. Calling off women seems like the right thing to do, until a mysterious beauty tempts him beyond reason.

I wasn't sure what I expected when I began to read this book, but I loved every sensual page of it. It's romantic and sexy. There's no crazy drama or angst, just two people fighting their own personal issues finding love where they least expected it. I really enjoyed both the characters and I appreciate that while it was incredibly steamy, the sex never took away from the relationship development or the story, merely added to it. If you're looking for a sweet and sexy story to pass an evening with, I highly recommend this one.

➳Beth Kery is back, and she is back with a better outlook to her writing because... DAAAYUUMM! This story is one of the lost emotionally, erotic, masterpiece of work that I have read in a very long time... Ever since Fifty Shades I haven't read anything that is close to the BDSM environment that is connected so artfully to the emotional love connection between the two protagonists. Thank you to Beth Kery, the author herself for sending me this ARC for an honest review. Check out the story, hitting new adult and romance shelves this upcoming November 1st!

➳Honestly, in the beginning I thought I was reading the perspective side story of a serial killer, waiting for the correct time to attack its prey... The serial killer being Eleanor and her prey being Trey, hahahaha! I found it rather creepy, but at the same time exhilarating, about Eleanor's actions towards watching Trey and his movements from afar. It's something that defies the type of character Eleanor truly is; brave and a true risk taker. In comparison to the way she describes herself being all shy, isolated, and not a risk taker towards the things she wants. Her story with Trey is a story that is sticking to my heart due to the intimate scenes they have together. I feel like the definition of BDSM changes in this book. Yes, both characters explore their intimate risks and don'ts and they do them through the actions of bondage and restraint. There is surely a lot of spanking hahaha, which I welcomed with opened arms!

➳Though their problems of committing to a relationship evolve throughout the story, their pasts and their personal lives crash to them and their common knowledge of knowing that the death of someone they where both really close with has taken a play in their scenario, they both try to work it out. Like any couple, a break is long overdue. Making them realize that they both need each other and want to be together for a better fill in their hearts.

➳This book gives you a sense of isolationism... It's a feeling that I haven't felt in a while now, but a feeling that was somehow welcomed. I enjoyed this story, and I am truly impressed with Beth's writing and her outlook to love and romance.

***Warning: this is an adult book, and for the eyes of mature readers***

Summary (from Goodreads):

Are you just going to stand there and watch?

Eleanor Briggs just can’t help herself. Every night, the sight of the man in the high-rise across the street is driving her wild. She longs to feel his touch up close and personal. To win him over, she’ll need to shake off her wallflower sensibilities and become the seductress she never imagined she could be. The only trouble will be finding the perfect way to meet him…

Or are you going to join in?

Sex is easy for millionaire entrepreneur Trey Riordan. Finding something of substance, however, seems impossible. That is until a simple night of reading at a local coffee shop becomes something far steamier when a beautiful brunette comes by and leaves a note telling him to look out his bedroom window at midnight. But when the time comes, neither of them will be truly ready for what follows…

What I Liked:

This book was simply stunning, and took me by surprise. I decided to read it on a whim - I wanted to read something really steamy, but new and fresh. I've not read any of this author's books, and none of my blogger and reader friends have read this book, so I figured this would be the perfect one to read. Thank you, Berkley, for the opportunity!

For about a year, Eleanor has watched the man living in the high-rise across the street. She's seen him having sex six of seven times, and each time, it's like he's right there doing those things to her. But he has no idea that she's seen him. One day, she decides to take matters into her own hands and go for it. When she sees his name on a list for a local coffee shop reading, what's a girl got to do but dress like she's doing to a club, and bring a sexy BDSM novel with her? She's got his attention now... and there is nothing stopping the blazing inferno of chemistry between them.

I had no expectations and I knew very little about this book, before reading it. There are so few reviews on Goodreads at the moment (as of September 29th, 2016), which was great! I went in blind and sometimes I absolutely love that feeling. I wanted to read a super hot romance novel that didn't have a lot of buzz behind it (yet), and I found one (and loved it).

Eleanor works at a museum, as a special collections person. She loves books and has a relatively boring life... until four months ago, when her sister died. Eleanor has been living in her sister's condo for over a year; ever since her sister died four months ago, Eleanor has been trying to fulfill her sister's dying wish - live more. Eleanor is the bookish type of girl, but she wants to be more confident and sexy. Seducing Trey Riordan, the man in the high rise across the street, is exactly what she wants to do. I like that Eleanor is terrified of making such a big move, but she does it. She isn't fearless and bold, but she does a bold thing (and then another, and another) to get Trey's attention, and she doesn't regret it because it makes her feel powerful. Eleanor and her parents are still grieving over her sister's death, but Eleanor is a strong woman.

Trey... Trey is so swoony. He likes women and he likes sex, but his last couple of relationships have gone terribly. His last girlfriend poked holes in his condoms! Trey can't stand lies or dishonesty, and he tells Eleanor upfront that this can only be sex. Trey wants honesty first, and no deception. He's a sweet guy, very intelligent and very successful (I'm thinking he's a millionaire, with the company he has, but money is not mentioned as much in this book - good!). Another thing - Trey is a dominant, and he's confident, and he has alpha traits (with being a d**k).

The chemistry between these two... holy guacamole. The steam started coming off the page from the first encounter. Who knew simply reading across from each other in a coffee shop could be so hot? The sex scenes in this book are off the charts. A fair warning - Trey is kinky, but the BDSM is mild. There is spanking, handcuffs, dildo action, vibrators, and I guess you could say that Eleanor is a voyeur (she's been watching Trey have sex with a different woman for a year). But there is nothing "extreme" (menages, or other voyeurs, etc.). I don't really like that kind of stuff, and I'm not into BDSM, but this kind of steamy stuff was really really steaming but not overwhelming in terms of the BDSM. Trey is a clear dom and Eleanor is an obvious sub (she's never been in a BDSM type of partnership but she quickly discovers what she likes).

The development of the relationship was really well-written too. Yes, the steamy stuff was off the charts, and the pair has great chemistry. Insta-lust is totally cool with me. But I thought the author did a wonderful job of gradually having these two fall in love. It was sweet!

And then there are the "heavy" issues of the book, like Eleanor's sister's death. Honestly the heavy stuff really didn't weigh down the story. I liked seeing Trey and Eleanor get closer over some of those issues. It took Eleanor quite some time to tell Trey about her sister, but I like how understanding Trey is. Trey never leaves Eleanor's side despite Eleanor jumping to some crazy conclusions (more than once), or her not being totally honest with him (about her job, her sister, etc.).

So in general... I'm half in love with Trey (I wish someone like him existed in real life), and I really liked and admired Eleanor. The chemistry was incredible, and the romance was sweet. The climax has a spot of drama, but not enough to be off-putting. The person in the wrong apologized, and the person wronged never gave up on the other. It was a beautiful ending!

What I Did Not Like:

I can't think of anything that would deter me from recommending the book - though I will say that I wanted to see some of Trey's "tough issues", and not just Eleanor's. I think the focus of the tough issues were on Eleanor and her sister's death, but I would have loved to see Trey lean on Eleanor (Eleanor leaned on Trey so many times in this book).

And the climax? As minimal as it was in terms of drama, it felt a tiny bit random. You'll see what I mean if you read the book. Eleanor flips out over this random thing... the thing itself is random, like the author couldn't figure out what to make the straw that breaks the camel's back, and so she just threw something in there... it was weird. No foreshadowing whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this detracted from the story or quality of the story. But it was weird, and worth mentioning!

Would I Recommend It:

I highly recommend this romance novel. I have been struggling with romance novels in the last few months (some have been good but not great, some have been absolutely awful, the rest have been meh). This one was excellent! I could swoon over Trey all day. Again, even if you avoid BDSM, don't worry, because the kinky stuff/BDSM is very mild (i.e. no menages) but VERY steamy.

Rating:

4.5 stars. I hesitate to round down. This book was honestly so good, and I'm glad I picked it up on a whim. I don't see room for a series of companion novels, and I'm hoping that Trey and Eleanor's happily ever after is cemented, so this is a great standalone novel. I recommend it, and I will definitely be looking out for other books by this author in the future!

I’m a mega Beth Kery fan. She’s my go-to author for steamy reads. Out of all the Beth Kery books I’ve read, Looking Inside is by far the steamiest book I have read. It’s just different, but elegant and tasteful.

Eleanor has a great view. Across the street in a high rise she gets the view of Trey. He’s handsome, intriguing and from what Eleanor has seen, he’s very good in bed. Eleanor gets the bird’s eye view of Trey’s trysts and she can’t help but stare and watch.

I really like the plot and concept of this book. What would you do if you saw a hot man getting it on? I would be like Eleanor and watch too. How could you not? What I liked best about this book is that it’s not an everyday thing and the whole book isn’t about Eleanor watching Trey.

The beginning sets up the book well and we get a feel of who Eleanor is as a character. She’s recovering from a bad event and she’s looking to break from her quiet and shy mode and into something a little different. She’s been studying Trey and she finally wants to interact with him.

The relationship between Trey and Eleanor is hot. There’s a lot of kinky and taboo stuff that goes on. He also pushes her boundaries and I like that. I also like Trey a lot. He’s a little taken aback by Eleanor but he loves how saucy she is with her revealing outfits and forward attitude. He’s dominate and well-rounded as a Hero.

Overall the book is light but steamy. There’s mild angst, but nothing that will make you pull your hair out. It’s a meaty book so there’s a lot of character build up and development. If you are a Beth Kery fan you will not be disappointed.

Looking Inside by Beth Kerry was a really great steamy read. The title itself describes Literally and Metaphorically what happens within the book. You have two great characters playing a cat and mouse like game with each other. Eleanor Briggs who just wants a taste of the man in high-rise across the street but knows she probably could never have . So she comes up with a plan to make him notice her. Trey Riordan has no idea what he's in for when he "stumbles" upon Elanor, especially when he receives a note from her to look out his window. I really liked the emotional aspects that were intertwined within their relationship, it really made the Male character more then a sexual being but an actual human being. The female character is really relatable for those of you who always wanted to do something but were to scared of that what "if" outcome. I really recommend this book if you love steamy sex scenes and just taking chances when dealing with the heart.

Beth Kery is a master at writing provocative erotic romance, and Looking Inside is a great example of what she can do.

Eleanor Briggs spent half of her life in her sister's shadow, and she was okay with it. She has a job she enjoys, friends, and a sister she adores and who adores her in return. Then one night she spies a man from the high-rise across the street. She became a bit obsessed with him, but with her shyness and tendency to blend into the background, she doesn't think she'll have the courage to meet him.

Looking Inside is a story about a woman trying to shed her inhibitions and explore her sexuality. It's very sexy and very provocative with lots of sexy times, voyeurism and exhibitionism thrown in for good measure. The sizzling chemistry between Trey and Eleanor is the main reason why I enjoyed this book. It's been a while since I've read an erotic romance that isn't full on BDSM. There is some Dominant/submissive element to Trey and Eleanor's relationship but it's subtle and it's not their main kink. So if you're in the mood for those, I highly recommend this book.

Looking Inside took me by surprise in the best way possible. Going in, I was expecting just a steamy erotica with an exhibitionism/voyeurism theme, but it turned out to be so more more than that! I don’t believe I’ve read any of Beth Kery’s books before, but if they’re as incredible as this one was, I’ll definitely have to get on that. I love her writing and I loved the main characters of Looking Inside. Trey and Eleanor were so much fun to read about – I would highly recommend this book to erotica lovers!

For months, Eleanor Briggs has been looking out her window to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous man in the high-rise across the street. She’s seen him a total of seven times, but six of them were of him having sex, and every time Eleanor imagined that it was herself underneath him and experiencing all the kinky things he’s inclined to. One day, she gets the chance to meet the one and only Trey Riordan and transforms herself from her quiet, boring librarian self to a confident, sexy, sultry woman she wishes she truly was. The moment they meet in person, the insta-lust goes haywire – I loved the chemistry between these two!

Trey is an absolute sweetheart. For all the money he has, he’s very down-to-earth, though he does have alpha tendencies. He’s been burned enough times by women who only want him for his money, so he’s put his romantic life on the back-burner, but the second he meets Eleanor, he wants her bad. Along the way, though, he starts falling for her, too – but he’s the kind of man who values honesty and trust, and he’s been falling for a version of Eleanor that’s only a persona… or is it?

I’m not the biggest fan of BDSM, but Looking Inside was just the right amount of kinky that I really enjoyed. It wasn’t too much or too little – Beth Kery knows how to balance out the steam and the story, which I definitely appreciated. The main characters were a delight to read about, and I’m not just talking about their chemistry. Their romance was sweet and genuine, even as they explored their exhibitionist/voyeuristic sides. I seriously adored this book and am definitely looking forward to more from this author!

I have been wanting to read this book ever since I read its blurb. So in the midst of calligraphy projects that I needed to finish last weekend, this was the only book that I managed to finish. Sigh.

I may have set my expectations too high for this story though because no matter how much I tried I just couldn't get comfortable reading it. I liked the characters--hello, Trey Riordan! Whew! Although I was not a big fan of Eleanor, I didn't hate her either. Maybe the prose came off as stilted for me? I don't know, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. Yet.

Don't get me wrong though. This was a still a well put together book and the twist was really that, a surprise. I won't be discouraging anyone interested in reading it but I won't be forcing it on anyone either. (Ooops! Yes, I do that to my favorite ones. Sorry, not sorry.)

Now i want a view like Eleanor have! And what a view it is.

This book is amazing. Combining Pride and Prejudie and BDSM is certainly very refreshing. The BDSM aspect is actually supporting the story, character development, and chemistry. I love the characters, especially Eleanor. I do not usually like a nervous heroine but in her case, it is very pleasant to finally see her as a fearless woman.

Miss Kery certainly knows how to write hot steamy romance.

Full review at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books

Looking Inside is one of the best erotic contemporaries I’ve read in a really long time. It’s not a perfect book, but it worked for me on every level. I devoured it. Basically if I had to take a shot for every one of the Elyse-catnip elements that shows up in this book, I’d be on the floor singing “Red Solo Cup.” If you put this book under a box being held up by a stick, it would be an effective Elyse Trap.

An element I enjoyed was that while they are exploring their sexuality together, Eleanor and Trey also explore Chicago together. They both acknowledge that even as residents, they don’t know or enjoy their city enough (travel romance, take a shot).

So where’s the conflict? That’s why this book gets an B+. Trey’s conflict is weak at best. Not unlike a lot of erotic romance heroes, his issue is that he doesn’t do commitment and all the relationships he’s had before have made him feel like women were trying to trap into a commitment he didn’t want.

Right. We’re all trying to cage your magic penis, Trey. Get over yourself.

Eleanor’s conflict is legit. She’s mentally cast herself in the role of boring librarian, and she feels like the sexually liberated person that she is with Trey is an act. It’s major imposter syndrome (take a shot). She’s afraid that if Trey discovers that she’s not this hyper-sexual, perfectly made up person all of the time he won’t want her. Like if he sees her in the stacks pushing her glasses up her face his boner will permanently die. She’s only comfortable in their relationship as Sexy Eleanor not Actual Person Eleanor.

ELEANOR YOU CAN BE BOTH!

In summation, we have a heroine who is on a journey of self realization that she gets to be both sexy and powerful and still fundamentally the person she always was. We get lots of erotic sexytimes. We get a hero who reads Pride and Prejudice. We get Elyse passed out on the floor from too many shots.

I feel like voyeur, in my mind...

Hot damn! Just reading the synopsis was sexy, but once I cracked the book, I turned into a puddle of goo. As Trey so accurately described it, "The chemistry between us was blistering."

I hadn't read a Beth Kery book in a long time and had forgotten how talented she was. She put me right there and I was most definitely looking inside. I'm surprised the heat didn't fog the windows, it almost melted my kindle.

I was so intrigued by the idea. It was exciting to see the shy Eleanor find the courage within herself to go after what she wanted. She's had enough of watching that gorgeous man through the window, fulfilling all of her fantasies, with someone else. It was time to take control of her life and turn it into something more than her current boring existence. You never know when you'll run out of time and you need to make every day count, right? Well, let me tell you, she might have been shaking with nerves on the inside, but on the outside she was fearless and sexy as she strutted into that coffee house and caught the attention of every man in the room, including her target. She had my attention too. I couldn't look away either. I pulled an all-nighter, resulting in a delicious book hangover.

Trey was taking a break from women. He was reevaluating his life and his choices. He must be doing something wrong, right? All of his relationships had turned into an unpleasant obligation rather than something he looked forward to. He was finding excuses to stay away, rather than rushing toward the women in his life. He was frustrated and unfulfilled. His decision to join the reading program at the coffee house was a personal journey of self discovery. Let's call it research. Surely reading a book that every woman considered the most romantic book ever written would give him a clue. The only problem was that he found himself using it to cover the growing erection caused by the tempting woman sitting across the room. He forgot all about taking a break after reading the cover of the erotic book she pulled out of her bag and seeing her blush as she read it.
He practically forgot his own name, much less why he had decided to give up women. And then, as she was leaving, he was so busy watching her that he almost missed the note she left, instructing him to look out his bedroom window at midnight...

Ok, I've set the stage for you. Admit it. You're intrigued, aren't you? I suggest that you read somewhere private, or you'll be blushing in public just like Eleanor did. Or...maybe that would work out well for you as well, and you might learn a few other tricks too (wink-wink).

A one star review propelled me to read this book.

Why you ask?

Because Eleanor Briggs stalking a man, Trey, and watching him have sex through his bedroom window, from her condo across the road was fascinatingly different.

Her being a freak made me want to know her. Who she was. What made her tick.

I'll tell you where it all went wrong.

So I assumed - from the synopsis - we'd get a Joe Goldberg. To anyone who doesn't know him, he's from the You series (stalking a girl he's infatuated with - Guinevere Beck) ... so yes, I wanted the female version of that. I didn't expect murder or death, like Joe does. But I wanted Trey to fall for her lies. I was excited. I wanted a seductress, a puppet master. A woman who constructs a completely different life in order to obtain the man she wants, if only just to indulge in her own fantasy for a little while. A liar, a really good liar. A manipulator. A freak. I seriously wanted a freak who could entertain me and was a dichotomy.

She was that, to a degree, until she exposed herself.

Instead we got a real love story. I was really annoyed. Because:
1. The love of my life would never be a man who is as pretentious and pretty as Trey despite his "dominant edge". F*cking "pea coat"
2. Would never be someone I've spied having sex with other woman, and learning his sexual proclivities. I have a mean jealous streak. And it's just weird.
3. Someone who had the hots for my dead sister, even though nothing happened between them because he knew her. An even meaner jealous streak.

Just, no.

And even though she did all those things. Spy, lie, creating a different life. She admits it to him - relatively soon. And instead of running away, he stays with her, and isn't the least bit freaked out. They have hot sex, which was basically 75% of the book before they fall for one another. I need more substance.

The kind of stalker Eleanor was. I would have taken those lies to my grave and just loved having a man obsessed with me.

Never mind. I expected something different.

Sexy, provocative, and sensual....another steamy page-turner from the ever so talented Ms. Kery.

A quite, conservative woman steps out of the shadows, when she loses her sister. She made a promise that she plans to keep, no matter how uncomfortable it makes her in the beginning. Pretty soon she's blossoming into something she never though possible...a sexy seductress with an exhibitionist streak. But only one man, and one man alone brings this out of her. It's the man she's been watching for a year. A man she so desperately wants to get under.

"Take it, Eleanor. Take it all. Because I've got so much more to give you."

Beth Kery gives us a romance where a blending of kinks is just the beginning. Seductive to the max, LOOKING INSIDE will draw you in and never let you go. An erotic journey of self discovery. A woman opens up a side of herself she never knew existed and Trey Riordan, the gorgeous, rich, and panty-melting neighbor, is all to willing to pull it out of her.

If you are looking for a passionate, erotic romance that will keep you up all night long, LOOKING INSIDE by Beth Kery, is your next unputdownable read!

So this is going to be me being verra verra blunt.

The plot line of this novel is utter shite.

It's creepy and Eleanor is a pervert. If it were a guy doing what she was doing to Trey, SPYING on him while he was having sex???

I'd be utterly disgusted.

And this is exactly what I am even when the roles are reversed. (Sorry no #GoGirlPower from me.)

Frankly, this isn't something that works on the romance scene. But it definitely fits Eleanor becoming a psycho after a one-night-stand that grows even more obsessed with Trey and end the novels by killing him and herself.

So being the sane one here, I continue to hope that Trey ran in the other direction the second he connected the dots and reported her to the police. But I also know that thats not true.

Also, Eleanor gave me no "bookish" vibes. Conniving she-bitch who's fake down to her toes and plays games? Definitely!!

An innocent, shy pseudo-virgin? Eh no.

Le sigh.

I would definitely recommend that every author out there to refrain from taking such a convoluted and sick trope and trying to romance it.

Thank you.

Are you just going to stand there and watch?

Eleanor Briggs just can't help herself. Every night, the sight of the man in the high-rise across the street is driving her wild. She longs to feel his touch up close and personal. To win him over, she'll need to shake off her wallflower sensibilities and become the seductress she never imagined she could be. The only trouble will be finding the perfect way to meet him...

But when the time comes, neither of them will be truly ready for what follows.

Looking Inside kind of feels like a desperate move to snatch a rich guy for playtime with some side plot added in but okay. After finishing the book I still had a lot of mixed feelings about it. There were parts that I liked, parts that intrigued me, parts I didn't like so much and others I really didn't like at all which only added to my confusion about how I felt toward the ending of the book.

Despite the get - together through most of the story it felt as if the fantasy was a better option than the actual interaction because it was so emotionally vacant. Bodies moved, bodies screwed but when it came to feeling I wasn't really feeling any of it from either El or Trey. It felt too automatic too robotic without a whole lot of emotional substance for me to really grasp onto.

I didn't particularly care for either of them as a couple or as individuals however the sex is hot, the story itself written well and the fantasies are hot but there's a little bit of annoyance mixed in how I felt because none of it had any sense of romance to it. Yet that somehow sort of flips in the last few chapters which again confused me. Suddenly they had emotion, they felt alive but by then it felt a little delayed for me and left me wanting as a reader. I can't really put my finger on why this wasn't a five star read for me other than the emotionally hollow interactions but its still worth the read.

It’s always a good sign when you finish a read that leaves you questioning why you haven’t read more of the author’s work. Beth Kery’s Looking Inside is a voyeuristic delight that quickly drew me in from observer to willing participant. What starts as a somewhat unassuming read, soon had me greedily racing through its pages, enjoying the antics of our protagonists within.

I'm a long time Beth Kery fan, so always get excited when she releases a new book. Looking Inside is her newest and a standalone. Eleanor is shy and introverted. She works at a museum and loves books, but also has a very addictive newer hobby. She has become a voyeur over the past year. Not that many people would blame her. Her apartment looks right into the high rise of Trey, a millionaire who has his pick of sexual partners. As Eleanor watches him she feels like the things he does to various women he is doing to her.

In a very uncharacteristic move, Eleanor takes a risk and soon Trey is intrigued by the mystery brunette he wants to get to know better. Normally he is the type of man who only thinks about a woman for as long as she is in his bedroom, but Eleanor is unique and different from the women he goes for. As they begin to spend time together, they engage in a steamy relationship. Before either knows it, feelings begin to develop and soon they are burning up more than just sheets.

Kery does a wonderful job of giving us an intelligently written steamy story with emotional impact and BDSM elements. I really liked both characters and there was just enough back story and personal intrigue to keep the story interesting. A highly recommended read to anyone looking for a well written erotic romance with an interesting premise.

I'm a huge Beth Kery fan, she's one of my go to authors that never disappoints. This one is just like the rest of Beth's books it draws you in from the beginning and keeps you reading till the end.

Eleanor works in a museum. She's quiet and dresses conservative until her sister dies. He sister tell her to live her life.

Trey lives in the building across the way and is a ladies man. Eleanor has been watching him through her window and would love nothing more then to be one of those women he takes to bed. He's a man that knows what he's doing and always pleases the women that he's with.

Eleanor comes up to with plan to seduce Trey by dressing in her sisters sexy clothes. Trey can't believe his eyes when he sees Eleanor.

The sex between Eleanor and Trey is off the charts hot. I love how when she's with Trey she's a different person but still herself.

Overall this book is hot and steamy, and a must read. The characters will draw you in and wish you lived in a high rise so you could watch your hot neighbor. Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha.

I wasn't captivated in this story like I did with Kery's other story. I find myself looking distracted while reading it and kept thinking what other interesting things I could do than finishing the book. Towards the end, I do find myself skimping the pages.

I didn't find the characters very interesting. While I have to admit that Trey oozes charm, I don't know, in a way this storyline is somewhat old-fashioned and I know old-fashion may not be the best word to describe Trey and Eleanor.

Leigh's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

3.75 stars

I really hate to write this review because I typically adore Beth Kery’s books. They are darkly sexy, intriguing and have a plot which grabs me. And Looking Inside certainly did not disappoint on the eroticism. It was the plot that fell a bit flat for me.

Eleanor has fantasized about Trey from afar for a long time. She views him through her bedroom window and into his apartment across the way. She has developed an obsession for a man that she has never met, yet knows intimately just from her clandestine insight into his world. Determined to engage in an affair with him, she puts on a sexy façade and pulls him into a “no strings attached” sexual relationship. But she is constantly in fear that Trey will discover the real Eleanor that hides beneath the false, sexy exterior she portrays.

Sounds fantastic!

The only problem is that, at the risk of sounding snarky, the phrase “much ado about nothing” kept running through my head. I kept expecting to have a typical Beth Kery-esque twist where something unexpected would happen. Some part of Eleanor’s past that would pop up. Some dark secret that would be revealed. But unfortunately that never happened. There was no real secret that Eleanor was trying to hide, just the mousy museum historian that could pull off her glasses, shake down her hair and dance like a burlesque queen through the open window curtains at night. And as Trey was aware of this, the confessing of her secrets was pretty anticlimactic.

If I was rating this on steam alone, I would definitely give it a 5. Beth Kery writes scintillating sex scenes with men that are dominant in the bedroom and certainly creative. And for the concept of essentially stalking a stranger you observed through their bedroom window, I actually was on board with the idea. If the situation were reversed and Trey was doing the stalking I may have found it creepy, but with the tables turned, it was a nice twist. I just wish there was more to the plot than a woman who doesn’t want to reveal that while a freak in bed, she’s more bookish during her daylight hours.

I’ve read a few of Beth Kery’s books before, and with a mixed response, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Trey Riordan wants for very little. Being a millionaire entrepreneur, his options are limitless, but the feeling of emptiness is about to engulf him.

He decides to reconnect with himself, taking a hiatus from the dating scene. That is, until he attends a reading evening, and is distracted from his Pride & Prejudice bubble by an overconfident beauty.

”When it came to sex, he participated. He initiated. He did.”

Life just isn’t going to be the same for Eleanor Briggs, but she’s decided to start living it differently. Having longingly watched the owner of the flat opposite serially seduce women, she finds herself imagining what it would be like to be the object of those affections.

She hatches a plan which will guide her into his path, but what she will have to overcome is her introverted nature. After all, a man such as Trey isn’t going to be interested in a quiet, dour, museum librarian.

”Climb Mount Riordan and plant your flag.”

I was transported into this story very quickly. Beth’s engaging storytelling ensured my complete absorption of these characters.

I totally got Trey’s frustrations, and could feel the chemistry vibrating on his initial introduction to Eleanor.

Eleanor’s usual shyness was endearing, rather than pitiful. You were heartened by her bravery to step outside her comfort zone in the quest for Trey’s gaze, never contemplating anything more than a cursory, carnal relationship.

Thumbs up all round..

I'm a huge Beth Kery fan. When I saw she had a new book coming out soon, I couldn't wait to read it.

Eleanor Briggs is someone who doesn't lead an overly exciting life. She's a librarian and doesn't think she's nearly interesting enough to catch the eye of the sexy man living in the building across from her sister. You see, she's seen him. I mean, seen him have a lot of fun with various different women. She wonders what it would be like to be one of them. To have his hands all over her.

Trey Riordan is smart, sexy, and always honest. When he goes to a reading group, he can't help but put his book down and focus on the beauty sitting across from him. One encounter and he's hooked. Even though he's sworn off women for the time being, he needs to know more about her.

Together, Trey and Eleanor make an unlikely couple, but a perfect one. Life isn't always easy, though. There are things Trey doesn't know about her, and she's worried how he will react when he eventually finds out.

I loved this book. The chemistry, the steaminess, it was all great. The way Trey was once he had Eleanor in his sights, I couldn't get enough of him. The author has a way of giving you just enough detail without overdoing it, and making you feel like you're in the story, feeling the emotions of the characters. If you're a fan of Beth Kery like I am, definitely grab this one. You won't be disappointed. This is a standalone romance.
