Atsushi struggles with the fact that only his own unique ability has not returned, and Shibusawa experiences death due to Fyodor's plot. The door to each of their memories opens, and the "lost memories" are revived... The beginning of the end of the "Stray Dogs" theatrical comicalization
i love chuuya. if anyone says that they hate chuuya, i’m killing you. but, that’s highly unlikely since no one hates chuuya. as much as everyone hates dazai for killing chuuya, i still ship soukoku. fanfictions exist. i’m not a fujoshi. soukokusoukokusoukokusoukoku chuuyachuuyachuuyachuuya
The action in this Japan reimagined world where strengths are used as battle Skills is awesome! I loved reading about inner monsters being used for good and then corrupted before being remastered in a positive way--so epic! I was confused as to why Atsushi's powers didn't return after he defeated his Skills, but all was cleared up by the end of the book (I won't give you spoilers, but the writing style is multilayered, and the whole history fits so well with the rest of the plot in this manga series). Although I'd hate to be in Atsushi's situation and dive back into my own memories deemed unpleasant and traumatic, I respect him as a character for being brave where I'd fail to be.
Plus, the imagery of when he saw his memories behind a closed door was darkly beautiful in an ominous way that I found myself enjoying. In each book, the focus was on a different character, which I came to realize only after finishing the third book in this series; book one circled Dazai, book two focused on Kyouka, and book three gave light to Atsushi's backstory. I was here for all of it and more!
When I realize there's both a book and movie/TV show adaptation of the same thing, I always try reading the books first. For the Black Butler series, I watched the anime before I read the manga, and I loved the anime more. For the Bungo Stray Dogs series, I've read the books before watching the anime, and I absolutely love all the books way more, especially after reading the Dead Apple trilogy.
Much as I love everything about the Bungo Stray Dogs series so far, there's one thing I'm still confused about... How did Bungo Stray Dogs get its name? What does "Bungo" mean, and I haven't found any stray dogs yet, so how does the title correlate to the plot? Should you know the answer, please tell me; I'll be forever grateful!
chapter 8 HUH NEW ADDED SCENE?? not to be insane but chuuya's choker does not have a buckle here. ok so i guess that's how dazai knew about shibusawa - bc he killed the colonel (pm exec), fine i won't harp on about that too much then. just for my own future reference notes, the dragon head conflict was after stormbringer. fav scene: chuuya knocking the lights out of dazai, "like anyone believes ur human" RIGHT after stormbringer, and leaving him like that i am eating this up as a semi-dazai-anti (heavy on the semi). like yes girl get him he deserves that! omg another added scene but with mori?? <3 now wait a damn minute, ango was still with the mafia when the dragon head conflict happened, he didn't publicly joined the government until after oda died so why is chuuya blaming him personally for letting shibusawa run free hmm what. unless he's just copying and pasting the blame onto ango now? poor hirotsu and mori for dealing with the teenage dazai and chuuya. but just chucking the microscope against the wall is hilarious. omg ok it's all coming together with the radio...
chapter 9 chuuya dunking on odasaku i need more of that content. get yourself a man who can kill like 20 people in 5 secs.
chapter 10 still unclear on the whole "u ordered shibusawa in and look what happened" like chuuya accuses the government but uh again, ango was in the pm when this happened. he probably lost friends as well. i feel like a genius (when really it's not that big of a deal) but fyodor doesn't open his eyes the entire time UNTIL shibusawa stabs dazai in the back.
chapter 11 omg fyodor so smooth with it slitting his throat. he's so hot for that
chapter 12 and then i bared my claws "crime and punishment are very close friends." asagiri has really written THE best character of all time.
Just when I thought Chuuya couldn't get any cooler his ass brought out the motorcycle that he used to ride on the side of buildings just to to save Dazai??? Soukoku my beloved. <3 All the tiktok edits I've seen to Chuuya and his motorcycle to Kesha's song Joyride? Art.
Chuuya is my second favorite character in this entire series and him in this was excellent. 🤌 I can't think of anything else that happened in here besides how cunty and slay he was. His aura is insane and his drip goes so hard like no single character should have this much aura. Dazai just like me fr, in love with him.
A lot of crazy shit goes down that I don't fully understand but yet again I feel sorry for poor Atsushi.😭
I don't understand Fyodor's power at all?? I get he purposely misleads people about what his power actually does but please explain wtf his power actually does. All of the characters being hot is really a downfall here like why did you have to make the villains all hot too?? Is Fyodor giving?? I fear the creator is allergic to ugly characters and I respect that.
Here are some interesting things about this volume that I didn't know until I read the little afterward by the mangaka:
This book just came out last year. So that means they wrote most of the regular series before tackling this story, even though when you watch the anime you are supposed to watch Dead Apple after season 2 (which is book 9 in the regular series). That's why I read this series before moving on with the rest of the OG series. I guess it doesn't really matter when you read this story, although it's nice to know the huge reveal about Atsushi that's in this volume before you move on with the rest of the story. So it sounds like the movie was written way before the manga. I'm surprised. And the last volume of Dead Apple finally comes out this month, I think. Interesting.
Another gorgeous volume in the manga adaptation of this wonderful story! Gun_Zi's art continues to impress, and I really wish they were the mangaka working on 15 Years...
There's so much Chuuya and Dazai in this volume and it was such a treat. It's truly my favorite in the series, although I know what happens next volume, so that might beat it out. Looking forward to volume 4!
If you like this version of the story, I recommend you watch the animated film! But skip the light novel, unless you really want to read it.
Apparently, there's a volume 4. I did not realize vol 3 came out in May in the US. I'll say it again: Dead Apple should have been combined or made into an omnibus.
It's still a great volume, and it ends right before the final battle with the dragon.
QUE ME BESE EL PRECIOSO DE LA PORTADA, la manera en la que usa corrupción confiando en que Dazai planeo algo, la MANERA EN LA QUE DAZAI TOCA SU ROSTRO, como se miran, como al caer LO RECUESTA SOBRE SU REGAZO, AYUDA ESTOY MAAAAL, LOS AMO FATAAAAAL. MIS PAPIS.
IT IS MY FVRTT AND I LOVE HOW CHUUYA IS HE IS SO LOYAL AND KIND TO HIS FRNDS BUT HE DOES N'T WANNA SHOW THAT MUCH , BSD IS MY FAVT IG . IT IS SO GREATT . IDK WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HIM IN THE NEW CHAPTER UGH I CANT WAIT THAT LONG FOR THE CHAPTER....
Only bought this because of pm dazai and the whole little flashback thing (not referring to the nightmare inducing atsushi flashback) because the movie butchered it
