Liska was raised in an uptight and strict household. Her magic kept a secret, her mother determined to crush it out of her by any means. After a magical outburst leads to the death of her cousins husband Liska knows she can no longer stay.
She flees to the wood where it is rumored a flower exists that can grant the finder one wish. Instead she finds the Leszy, the demon of the would.
She makes an agreement with him, one year of service and he will take her magical powers away from her as requested. But as expected, there is much more to the wood that she first thought, and her feelings toward the Leszy become more powerful.
A wonderful magic system, I’m a sucker for a good wood/forest and I even found the romance to be one I could get behind!
I will definitely read more by this author.

After the events of Good Girl Bad Blood, Pip is struggling with PTSD and has even developed a pill habit. When she discovers some strange occurrences that lead her to believe someone is stalking her, the police don’t believe her. They think it is just relayed to her trauma.
Looks like Pip is going to have to handle this herself, and when she notices similarities with a closed case of a serial killer, things go from bad to worse.
(view spoiler)[ I know a few reviewers have questioned whether it is right that Pip frames Max Hastings for the murder of Jason Bell who is actually the DT killer. I for one think it is more than valid. Max Hastings is a serial rapist - responsible for destroying numerous lives. He only goes down for destroying one life. So honestly? Fuck that guy he deserves everything he gets. (hide spoiler)]
I loved the fast pace, as always and the wonderful characters both to love and to hate. Pip’s relationship with Ravi is absolute goals. (view spoiler)[ though I don’t see why she felt the need to cut everyone off until Max had been found guilty. However - it just made that little message from Ravi at the end even cuter (hide spoiler)]...more

My new favourite Nancy Drew is back for round two in this sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
Pippa Fitz-Amobi is done with detective work. After all the drama and attention the previous year she just wants to focus on school, friends and passing her exams for university.
But when one of her best friends, Connor, approaches Pip to ask if she will look into the disappearance of his older brother, how can she say no?
I will admit, there are far fetched elements, and even parts I guessed. But I don’t mind that as long as the plot is good. And damn this was a non stop page turner!
(view spoiler)[ turns out the local journalist Stanley Forbes is in witness protection as his father was a serial killer and he was forced to help him when he was a kid. One of the victims’ brother has been looking for Stanley and wants to punish him. Connor’s brother unfortunately got caught up in it through Charlie cat fishing as a woman online. I did think the new neighbours Charlie and Flora were a bit suspicious. (hide spoiler)]

I love all the different characters, still loved the world and the politics. This book was slightly more romance focussed which isn’t my bag but I still thoroughly enjoyed it and liked how everything was solved and wrapped up.
Will definitely look out for more by this author!

Loved this whims “I believe there are far more possibilities than happily ever after or tragedy. Every story has the potential for infinite endings.”
Loved this whimsical and delectable tale! Stephanie Garber’s world building is top notch. I didn’t want to leave this magical land of mysteries and mayhem.
When Evangeline approaches the Prince of Hearts in a moment of heartbreak and desperation she gets a lot more than she bargained for.
Invited to the glamorous land in the Magnificent North, where the current royal prince is throwing an extravagant party to find his true love.
But when she arrives, with her stepsister Marisol, nothing is as it seems, and when she bumps into the Prince of hearts she realises he is not finished with her yet.
I loved all the different characters and the secrets. That no one can be trusted and everyone has a secret agenda. I fell into this world and did not want to resurface. Roll on book 2!!!

Imagine the hunger games, but with magic!! The town of Ilvernath is cursed. Every year a member of one of the 7 cursed families must fight to the death until one remains.
That remaining member’s family then has control of all the towns high magick until the next tournament. Roughly every 20 years.
Throw in local businesses that deal in spell and curse making and everyone has their own agenda.
I love the morally grey characters, desperately wanting their families approval, but not wanting to murder each other either.
I liked all the characters, they were a good mix. Isobel was probably my least favourite, she was a tad whiny. But she got better as it went on.
So excited for book 2!!

Holy shit!!
What an outstanding Halloween read! This book was the definition of creepy.
Elsie is pregnant, newly widowed and about to move into her husband’s family home The Bridge. It is full of rumours and the local villagers are terrified of the house. Elsie thinks it’s all ridiculous. It’s just an old house. Together with her husbands cousin Sarah she begins working on getting the house clean and prepared for the baby’s arrival. When they come across these wooden figures referred to as companions, Elsie finds them intriguing and decides to bring them out.
Separately we have a timeline from after this era, when Elsie is in a psychiatric hospital and unable to speak. Her doctor tries to get her to tell the story of what happened.
Finally we have an even older timeline in the 1600’s from Anne Bainbridge. Elsie’s husbands ancestor.
All these different elements combine to make an eerie story where everything creeps along, I thought it might have been too slow but honestly it was perfect to build up this feeling of dread.
If you like creepy gothic fiction then this is for you. It combines horror with mental instability. The supernatural with the evil of humanity. I loved it and will be reading everything Laura Purcell writes....more

Goryhell and Bloodydamn!
This series has knocked about 10 years off my life I swear!
There isn’t really much I can say here. I was constantly shocked by the characters switching loyalties and plot twists.
The number of people being killed off had me on the edge of my seat.
This trilogy has a good ending but I am looking forward to starting the next series for more drama.

Twist after twist. We never know who will do what, or who will die next. It’s constant, edge of your seat battles and politics and I could not get enough!

A select group of guests are invited to stay on a secluded island in Ireland for the wedding of two elite and beautiful people.
Jules has built herself a successful business with her online magazine, while charming, jaw-droppingly handsome Will is a tv star.
When the ushers arrive, full of boisterous energy and nostalgia for their raucous school boy days things start to get crazy.
Throw in the bride’s old flame and his new wife and suddenly there are secrets everywhere.
The tension is built so well, bit by bit. Each time we get a new reveal or a new secret I was itching to read more.
I liked how it ended, I didn’t see it coming but it was believable. The only reason this got 4.5 instead of 5 ⭐️ is because in one chapter (view spoiler)[ two of the usher pull Hannah out of the sinking mud. But in the next chapter a different two ushers are named as the ones who pulled her out. Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed this twisty ride full of secrets and a fantastically creepy atmosphere. ...more

What a wonderful conclusion!
I’ll admit at first I wasn’t sure about the introduction of all these other characters in the final book. It seemed at times almost like I was reading an entirely different book to Scythe and Thunderhead.
But as everything began to link together and we have the epic conclusion with all the characters I loved it!
I loved watching everything come together - Goddard and his New Order Scythe’s are slowly destroying civilisation with their violent gleanings. The tonist’s have themselves a prophet known as The Toll but who is it? Meanwhile Citra/Anastasia and Rowan (as per the end of book 2) (view spoiler)[ have been revived 3 years after the sinking of Endura to find that Goddard has made himself Overblade of Midmerica which isn’t a thing and that Rowan is being blamed for the entire Endura disaster. It’s all madness and craziness and I was absolutely there for it! The ending was just the kind I was hoping for. What a fantastic sequel! A fantasy full of magic and political intrigue with long held grudges and feuds all coming to a head.
3 POVs. Nahri, Ali and Dara - I didn’t love Dara’s chapters all that much, but I understood they were crucial to the plot.
Nahri is married to Muntadhir and hating life. Meanwhile Ali’s father runs the show like a dictator controlling everyone and everything.
At the same time, ancient enemies are planning an attack on Daevabad and suddenly everyone’s lives are at risk.

Wow! I honestly am blown away. I didn't expect this level of thriller-ness when I picked this up, but I absolutely LOVED IT!
The description makes it seem like a kind of sci-fi futuristic novel. We have two POVs, Cat and Amy.
Amy is a Heartstreamer - she is able to post her feelings online via patches on her head that allow others to feel her emotions. Such an interesting concept - with the internet as it is now, people share so much online, so it's really believable that a piece of tech like this could become available in the near future. Amy uses Heartstream to share her struggles, particularly her mother's battle with cancer, and death (not a spoiler, this happens almost immediately.) After her mother's funeral Amy arrives home to discover a stranger in her house, a bomb vest attached to their chest - they have wanted to meet Amy for a long time. But what do they want? And who are they?
The second POV is Cat's. She is part of a fandom for a band called The Everlasting. They all ship two of the band members - Ryan and Nick, and they are OBSESSED. Seriously these girls were terrifying - I know fandom's can be pretty hardcore, but this was next level. Cat's best friend Evie is one of the worst. She is a powerhouse in the fandom - everyone knows her, she has every form of social media known to humankind, and if you piss her off you will be hacked, and wish you'd never been born. Their lives are 'Rick4eva' (Ryan and Nick). What Cat hasn't told her best friend, and probably never will - is that she is secretly dating Ryan. The lead singer. If the fandom found out they would be out for blood. (Imagine - every girlfriend Justin Bieber has ever had, the amount of abuse they recieved from fans.)
So how do these two characters link? How are they connected? Well, I am not going to tell you, because you NEED to read this book. Just know that I was absolutely SHOOK when all the revelations came out, and there is twist after twist and twist. Honestly, I can't view fandom's in the same light, and this was some seriously DARK parts of human nature.
I was truly gripped. Don't miss out on this one guys, honestly it is so worth it!
