Everything about this book is perfect: The characters are very well-developed, the plot is engrossing, very well-constructed, and never lets you go, the language itself is so delicious, it is no less than a masterpiece.
The author M.L. Stedman is a master at writing stories that will hunt you everywhere you go. She is a genius at creating and describing emotions and feelings in the most original ways. I have never came across a writer with such talents at describing emotions, of sadness, of anger, of doubt, of losing hope, of finding hope, in this undeniably deep way.
The author unfolds layers and layers of emotions, which I have never imagined might exist. She sews the layers and the wounds of Tom and Isabelle in the most brilliant ways, and then by the second half of the book, she takes out the stitches and shows us what lays beneath: The shame, the pain, and the lost of hope. But also HOPE.
In addition to everything above, I must add that I love how the writer did not limit the story by only taking us into the minds and eyes of Tom, Isabelle, and Hannah, and that we were able to see more of the story from the minds and eyes of the town-people of Partageuse in which a great part of the plot is taking place.
I love, love this book. It is sad, angry, painful. But above all, it is hopeful. I truly hope for whoever reading this review to read this book and lose him/herself in the story and the eloquently-written language....more

- Roland of Gilead
I understand, Roland. I understand.
Wizard And Glass, the 4th book in the epic Dark Tower series, is a very important tale that demands to be told and I think Stephen King had succeeded in writing an implacable story of true love, friendship, loyalty and treachery, the transition from boyhood to manhood, bad and good decisions, and the forgiveness from whom we deserve the most: Ourselves.
This book is told heavily through flashbacks, and it paints young Roland, the one we don't know or recognize from any of the 3 first books, with a brush of a different color, funny, charismatic, and most importantly: Alive from within as from without. We get to see why Roland became present-day Roland, and the character-development of his character is without a doubt the most vivacious part out of the entire book. You will grow to sympathize with him and love him.
Moreover, we see him falling in love with sweet and beautiful Susan Delgado, his first true love, and follow through his steps with his Ka-Tet Curt and Alain trying to uncover the dangerous secrets that are hidden in Mejis, that will shape the life of Roland of Gilead.
We see him acting as a natural leader, using his wits and questioning everything and everyone (minus Susan and his Ka-Tet), and making decisions that will impact him and the entire kingdom of Gilead, that will tear him apart and lead him on his maddeningly and obsessive quest for the Dark Tower, to save his world and ours from being thrown into infinite chaos and deaths.
Now, this book is difficult. It is unnecessary too long (694 pages), there are lots of insignificant passages and scenes that should have been omitted from the text or shortened; they slowed the pace, sometimes unbearably, and made the book bleak sometimes, but once you get through them, the book gets easily fast and fun.
I honestly didn't know what to think of this book; am I loving it, am liking it, or hating it? I was originally going to rate it 3.75 stars rounded to 4, then it became 4 solid stars, but by the last part of the book, Roland broke my heart completely, and it almost made me teary and encouraged me to give 5 stars.

I just finished this book and it is 4 AM here, so I'll just say that I loved this book, which is story within a story within a story. The first one - I just finished this book and it is 4 AM here, so I'll just say that I loved this book, which is story within a story within a story. The first one - Present Day - and the third one, called The Wind Through the Keyhole, which is a story that Roland's ma used to read for him during his childhood, were sweet and heartwarming.I enjoyed the connections to the dark tower, Randall Flagg the Dark Man, and the parallel between each storyline and theme. While the second story, a backstory from Roland's part, was brutal and gruesome, but less interesting than the others.

Unlike the first one, Duma Key was the second book that I planned on reading with a friend on IG as part of #ConstantKingathon that I was co-hosting.
Unlike the first one, The Green Mile, which was a 5-star read, Duma Key is now my 1st DNF of 2020.
This is so far my 3rd DNFed King book (Blaze & Insomnia are the first 2), and as a Constant Reader of Stephen King, it really pains me to leave a work by him unfinished.
The greatest sin of this book is that it was very boring and repetitive beyond anything I've read this year. It is well-written (of course, it's by King!), but there is too much fillers, and it didn't know where to go for the first 200 pages; it might have been a King masterpiece in my eyes if those first 200 pages were shortened. Alas, it was never meant to be.
I really have no idea what to rate Duma Key: 1 or 1.5, or even 2-2.5 stars .... so I'll leave the book unrated and forget all about it, without even attempting to learn about the ending, or anything after page 286....more

Dreamcatcher is one of Stephen King's most hated booksIt took me eleven days to finish this 882-page of a beast, and I savored the amazing experience!
Dreamcatcher is one of Stephen King's most hated books; almost everyone who's read it tells me to stir away from it, that it's a piece of sh-tty writing . . . And oh man, how wrong they are,
This book is pure fun, and a brilliant action-packed piece from start to end. There are tons of stuff that are happening in this book, and several sub-plots, which include, among many, the Alien storyline and the underlining theme of friendship between our protagonists.
Although the Alien storyline was strong, I was more captivated with the friendship-line of the story. It touches upon the human emotions and empathy for those who are different from us, what is just and what is wrong, and what makes us who we are: Our decisions and our actions.
In terms of characters, some of the characters here were very well-developed, and several, sadly, were not-fully developed (or never), which bogged me a little bit. But Duddits, who is with Down-Syndrome, has made this book more emotional, and even more powerful, as the character-development of the four friends is signaled by their mutual care and love for him.
With this book, Stephen King's first fully-length novel after the accident which almost got him killed, you could feel and taste his pain, struggling through physical and mental distress, his anger, but also the sense of not letting go and 'staying on the line'. It feels as if King's pain is streaming down into the abyss of consciousness as it does with Jonesy.
There is a hugely disgusting small section (in the beginning) in the book that I think irritated lots of readers from continuing the story. My advice is just keep reading, and put these scenes behind your back once you are done with them.
Lastly, what can I say, this is definitely a new favorite by Stephen King. It enthralled me, it shocked, and most importantly, it moved me.

Each character was incredibly well-writtenThis book was so much fun from start to end. Literally, I never got bored, and I loved everything about it.
Each character was incredibly well-written, expertly-developed, and enjoyable to follow and learn more about.
My observation on Roland as a single-minded person has changed, and I now have a strong admiration for him, as his sets of moralities evolves into something much more humane.
The relationship that surrounded the characters, their friendship and sense of belonging-to-each-other have grown my affection for them.
As far as the writing-style goes, you can sense and feel how much fun King was having while he was writing The Waste Lands, and the atmosphere that gave life to the story added a very energetic and fast-pacing feels to it.
This is definitely my favorite book in the series so far, followed by The Gunslinger Book 1.
