What if you met someone and had a deep connection with them? What if it left you wanting more? What if you made plans to see each other again? What ifWhat if you met someone and had a deep connection with them? What if it left you wanting more? What if you made plans to see each other again? What if they never show???? What if you see each other again years later? What If I Never Get Over You is an insta-love, second chances drama filled book that had me rooting for both Ellie and Ash as life threw them a few lemons, obstacles, and bad timing.
Ellie is traveling through Europe when she meets Ash. They hit it off instantly and spend three wonderful days together in Lisbon. They both have such an amazing time that they agree to meet again in Spain.
Ellie meets up at their chosen meeting place late and Ash is not there. She laments that she would have waited for him. She waits and waits and waits, but he never shows. She gave him her contact info but never got his last name. Some advice fellow readers - always get a last name!
Six years later, Ellie has decided to take her life into her own hands and do what she loves. She quits her current job and accepts an offer to be a gardener on a sprawling five-hundred-year-old Wales. She loves it and enjoys her new co-workers. Then one day she gets a massive shocker as she sees Ash and learns why he never showed up in Spain.
This book proved to be a fast and enjoyable read which had me turning the pages while shaking my head at the characters quite a few times. I often find myself yelling "COMMUNICATE" while reading romance books as that seems to be a big bump in the road for most literary couples (and those in real life).
The attraction and feelings are still there but will it be enough for all the bumps and obstacles in their way? You will need to read to find out. With romance books it is all about the journey for me and Ash and Ellie had an interesting journey. At times I wanted to give them both a talking to and other times I felt as if they both needed a good hug.
At times these characters felt younger than their stated ages. I did like how the author focused on family expectations. This book also looks at following your OWN dreams, being vulnerable, open and honest.
This is the third book which I have read by Paige Toom. My favorite one being Only Love Can Hurt Like This. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Her Burning Lies delivers a scorching hot mystery for Detective Delaney Pace to solve! A wildfire raged thorough Kearny County leaving destruction in its path. A body which had been stabbed, has been found in a burned farmhouse. Sheriff Leo Palmer recognizes the dead woman from an online dating site he has used! When another body is found, having been stabbed by a silver sword, Delaney begins to wonder if there is a serial killer on the loose in Kearny County. Whew! With a fire raging, and bodies being found, the team was up against both mother nature and a killer. When Maggie's close friend, Clara Eckhardt, goes missing, Delaney will do whatever it takes to find and bring her friend home!
Brimming with tension, danger, dread, and suspense Her Burning Lies, kept me fully invested and turning the pages! I have enjoyed this series from the very beginning (Her Silent Bones) and love the balance between Delaney's personal and private life. She has been raising her Neice, since her brother and sister-in-law were killed in an automobile accident. Plus, her chemistry with Leo is off the charts and I have been rooting for them the entire series. I love their scenes and the simmering interactions between them.
This book had me turning the pages and trying to figure out the identity of the diabolical killer. Thankfully Delaney and Leo are better detectives than I am! This book was brimming with danger, suspense, and thrills. Wonderfully written, well thought out, intense, gripping and hard to put down! I can't wait to read what happens in the next book in the series!

WOWZA! This was a pulse pounding and hard to put down page turner! I loved the tension and dread that jumped from the pages as every parent's worst niWOWZA! This was a pulse pounding and hard to put down page turner! I loved the tension and dread that jumped from the pages as every parent's worst nightmare happens in Such Quiet Girls: A Thriller. Noelle W. Ihli blew me away with this heart wrenching and riveting book about two mothers and ten abducted children! The author captured the instantly gut gripping reaction of Sheena, one mother learning that her two children have been abducted, and the fear and sense of responsibility of Jessa, the other mother who was driving the bus and was abducted along with the children. Whew! The author put her characters and readers through the ringer and then some!
From the very first page, I was instantly invested and read most of this book in one day as I did not want to put this book down! What began as a normal day ends in a nightmare as a bus driver and the children she is carrying and kidnapped and placed in an underground bunker. Can you even imagine their fear? I had to keep reading to learn what was going to happen next! This book is told through the POV's of Sheena, Jessa, Sage (Sheena's daughter), and one of the kidnappers. I found this to be a very nice touch and helped readers not only get into their heads but feel their emotions.
What an emotional roller coaster of a ride this book became. Both mothers had me feeling for them and what they are going through and experiencing. Sheena fears for her two daughters who had been taken while trying to care for her father with Alzheimer's. Jessa is locked underground with the children trying to keep them calm while battling her own growing anxiety and discomfort. Not to mention the children who try their best to be brave in a horrifying and frightening situation.
What a tense, thrilling, gripping and frightening page turner which was inspired by true events! There were some nice twists and turns along the way which made this book even more enjoyable and riveting.
I can't wait to read what Noelle W. Ihli writes next!

I was instantly drawn into the plot from the very first page and had a hard time putting this riveting and addictive book down! I loved the mystery and did my very best super sleuthing to figure out whodunit. I made a few very good guesses, but Donlea left me shocked and with my jaw hanging open with one startling revelation. Whew!
Ethan Hall, a former detective, and current doctor is approached by his partner, to help solve the cold case of 17-year-old Callie Jones (the governor's daughter) who disappeared ten years ago. This is only the beginning as Ethan must also come back into the orbit of Francis, an imprisoned serial killer, who seems to have a lot of knowledge about a case he was not involved with. Hmm........
Whew! This book kept me on my toes and then some. There are a lot of characters, and they all have a role to play in this addictive, shocking, gripping, and hard to put down mystery thriller. This book had me guessing again and again who could be behind the disappearance of Callie and the fate of another woman who has gone missing.
This book had tension, dread, and atmosphere dripping from the pages. I could feel the unease of many of the characters paired with the deviousness and menage of other characters. Guess Again proved to be a twist filled ride that kept the action coming and my pulse pounding. I loved how the past and the present collided in one scene that was a total shocker and left me and one character reeling! Plus, the ending has me crossing my finger and hoping that there will be another book featuring Ethan.
Gripping, shocking, fast paced, tense and wonderfully written.
A wonderful Witches Words read with Brenda, Norma, Mary Beth, and Carolyn. Be sure to read their reviews of Guess Again to get their thoughts on the book!!!

Man, I thought I knew where this book was going and what a shocker that ending was! I did not see that coming at all. I thought I had things figured out but nope M.A. Hunter threw in a real zinger that left me bamboozled. I wish the entire book had me feeling this way but there were times I did some eye rolling.
Jenna sees a woman at the train station who appears to need help. Jenna doesn't normally get involved but decided this time to help. She had seen Allie prior to this day but the day she stepped in Allie looked frazzled. Allie tells Jenna that she is in danger and Jenna promises to help>
Things get very interesting after Jenna welcomes Allie into her life. Things become tangled, messed up, and tense very fast. This book has plenty of tension, dread, and unease. There were plenty of moments where I wondered what was going to happen next and other times where I was rolling my eyes at the characters and the decisions that were being made.
The ending was a shocker for me! I did not see the book ending in that fashion and kudos for the author for pulling that off. My one issue with the book was the number of things that were thrown into the mix. There was a lot going on and lot for Jenna to deal with.
M.A. Hunter's books are either a big hit or settle in the good not great category for me. This is where this book landed. I enjoyed it, was shocked by the ending, but along the way, there were too many instances where I was waiting for the kitchen sink to be thrown into the mix as well.

The Sharp County Slasher is a book where a retired detective, Hilrey Higgins, is also a retired serial killer. What!?! Yes! Hilrey has been called in to help investigate a copycat killer who is mimicking Hilrey's kills with precision! Detective Dakota Diaz has also been called in to investigate and she and Hilrey must work together to catch a killer.
A killer hunting a killer...So the synopsis pretty much tells a lot about the book but.... there is more, much more which is not mentioned. This book is less than 200 pages, and I easily read this book in one day. It wasn't as gripping as I had hoped but the mystery was enough to keep me invested. I will say that this book is not for the faint of heart or the squeamish. This is the first book in what is going to be a series.
The book goes in dark places while the investigators try to shed light on whodunit. This book started strong and lost me a little in the middle and redeemed itself a little with the ending. Overall, this was a solid 3 star read. It was intriguing enough that I would read the next in the series to see where the author takes the characters.

Kathryn Croft has done it again! She has delivered a thrilling psychological thriller which kept me guessing and turning those pages! Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Kathryn Croft proved me wrong! This is the 7th book that I have read by Croft, and she always delivers!! I know when I pick up one of her books that I am in for a fabulous reading experience!
It was supposed to be a fun evening out, but then Kate saw Jamie's beautiful blue eyes, she was intrigued but it was his charm that won her over. After a one-night stand, Kate returns to find Jamie murdered!!!!! She decides not to go to the police and instead goes on with her life.
But life has a way of throwing curveballs at you and while at a playdate with her son, she sees Jamie's picture in her new friend, Harper's living room. He said he wasn't married but here she is sitting in his home making small talk with his wife! Talk about a shocker!!!!!
This one is juicy folks! Kathryn Croft has a way of throwing in twists and turns which leave me reeling and have my head spinning. I was shocked more than once while reading this book. As with the other books I have read by this author, The Last One to See Him was wonderfully written, well thought out, perfectly paced, and had interesting characters.
Whew! This book proved to be a fast read as I did not want to put it down! I had to know what was going to happen next! I did not see the reveal coming at all! I love it when that happens!

This book is a twisted, chilling, gripOld money, power, prestige, secrets, lies, and an isolated New England Island set the stage for Dead of Summer. This book is a twisted, chilling, gripping, and dark tale about a young woman coming home to Orla O’Connor and looking for answers! I enjoyed this dark tale the mystery about what happened the night a young woman name Alice disappeared.
Orla O’Connor hasn't been to Hadley Island since her best friend, Alice disappeared one night. Orla, Alice and David were inseparable that summer. They had fun in the sun and partied at night.
David has returned to his family's luxurious estate on the island with his girlfriend, Faith. Faith is hoping for a romantic and luxurious trip, but David is preoccupied and seldom around.
Henry, an islander, was accused in Alice's disappearance and has never left. He remains, always watching......
This was an enjoyable mystery which kept me fully invested and turning the pages. I enjoyed the twists and turns along the way; although there were times that I hoped the pace moved slightly faster. I enjoyed the setting and that trapped feeling of being on the isolated where everyone knew everyone, and secrets are hard to keep.
Coming in under 300 pages, this proved to be an enjoyable book. This is the second book which I have read by Jessa Maxwell, The Golden Spoon being the first. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

On the surface this book is about a fifteen-year-old native American teen, while sleepwalking one evening, sees an image of a person stepping though a doorway. He lives with his mother and younger brother and what he observes is neither or them but bears a strong resemblance to his father who died mysteriously.
This book is deep, man. It is deep. At first, I didn't know quite what to make of this book. I often initially feel, when I pick up a book by Stepehen Graham Jones, that I am in over my head. There were a few times during the course of reading this book that I wondered just what am I reading? His writing is wonderous, mesmerizing, dripping in symbolism, deep, and dark. He takes a story about a male teenager who lives with his mother and younger brother who has seizures, and swirls in culture, identity, trauma, loss, and memory.
Mapping the Interior is in the horror genre but is more horrific than horror. I will note that this book does have bullying and violence to animals.

Maddie and Cole are a married couple with three children. Both are busy with their careers. Maddie is a nurse and Cole is a surgeon who has long and unpredictable hours. Could lack of sleep or something else be causing the distance Maddie is beginning to feel in her marriage. When Maddie receives a call telling her that ."Your husband is planning to kill you…", she is shocked to the core!
Whew! This book is brimming with drama, secrets, tension, dread, lies, and threats. This book kept me on my toes and turning the pages. There are characters that I liked, ones I questioned their motives, ones I disliked, and some I wasn't sure what to think of them. I enjoyed how my feelings toward some of the changed throughout the course of reading this book. This book had me changing my theory on who could be trusted multiple times while reading. I enjoyed the many twists, turns, and revelations which made this book a thrilling and gripping shock filled ride! Spider to Unto an evil counsellor, close heart, and ear, and eye, And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly. — Mary Howitt (1828)
Spider to the Flyis gripping, addictive, dark, tense, twisted, and hard to put down page turner! There is a diabolical serial killer who leaves 'interesting' clues behind. This book was a great cat-and-mouse thriller that caught my attention and had me trying to solve the case!
Ellie was shocked when one of the I-64 Strangler victims looked exactly like her! What are the chances that she has a doppelganger out there? Ellie was adopted, could this woman be her twin or just an unlucky look alike??? Ellie goes on to become a true crime writer and runs a true crime network and database. When law enforcement can't make headway in the ongoing murders, they turn to Ellie for assistance.
I enjoyed how the author showed on how online true crime buffs can help solve crimes or at least give them a new way of looking at both the suspect and/or killers and the victims. Speaking of killers, the one in this book is a twisted and devious killer. Like a spider spins it's web, J.H. Markert spins this intricate tale with precision. I had no idea where things were going to go or what tangled path Markert was going to take me down, but I was there for the ride.
The tension, dread, suspense, and danger intensified as the book progressed. This book has many layers and readers slowly get to learn more about the characters and their pasts/younger days. While I did want a little more about the character's childhoods and had a few questions remaining, I closed this book a happy reader.
Creepy, dark, twisted, and compelling.

It was meant to be a fresh start in a beautiful setting, in a beautiful home, with friendly neighbors! That is what Julia, her husband James and their two children were hoping for. But everyone is a little too happy, a little too put together, a little too invested in earning gratitude points! Is this gated community really Where You Belong???
I have to agree with other reviews who have mentioned the movie "Don't Worry Darling" Where You Belong does give those same vibes and then some! The men seem to be in control and the women do as they are told and make sure to wear their bracelets so the app can measure how they are feeling. Julia begins to see and feel the cracks in this gated community’s picture-perfect facade. She beings to question, look for answers, and buck the system.
This was an interesting and quick read which has a dystopian type feel to it or does it? We have so many apps on our phones to track our steps, our heart rates, our sleep, our spending, our book quotas, etc. Having an app to track mood was not such a stretch. I applauded the author for adding that into this book.
I also enjoyed the tension, the dread, and especially that trapped feeling that I love in books! This book also has a creepy vibe, and I felt for Julia and wondered who things would turn out. This was an impressive debut book which moved at a nice pace and kept me fully invested.

When Lisa mentions that she has nowhere to go, Cath brings her home and Gary begins to change. Plus, what is going on with the notes that Cath is receiving??? Enter stress and drama stage left!
I had no idea where this book was going or what was going to happen, but I enjoyed this twist filled ride. Along the way I came up with several theories and thought I had figured things out, but boy was I so very wrong. I was not close at all - not by a long shot. I enjoyed the mounting tension, the uncertainty, the doubt, the suspicion, and twists that Wendy Clarke so deftly wove into the plot.
The secrets, lies, twists, and turns kept my turning the pages and wanting to know how things were going to end up. I did not see one reveal coming and I love it when that happens. I had the privilege of having both the audiobook and the e-book versions of Make Yourself at Home. I thought the narrator of the audiobook did a great job in bringing this book to life.
Gripping, tense, shocking and well thought out!

There is his truth, there is her truth and then there is... Noelle Holten's His Truth Her Truth is a twist filled tale full of secrets, lies, unreliability, and revelations. At various times in the book, I wondered just who could I trust? I thought I knew a few times, I thought I had figured everything out, but then Noelle Holten threw a wrench into the mix, and left me wondering yet again! Joe and Beth are found covered in blood, and appear to be dead, each with a knife clasped in their hand!
Beth's father has passed away and she is knee deep in grief for the man who raised her. Joe, her fiancé can't seem to tear himself away from his job to be there for her. As tension rises, Beth tries to go back to work as a gulf begins to grow between them.
I found both characters to be insufferable at times. Seriously, Joe can't get away from work, to be there for Beth when she is dealing with her father's death????? Boy did this rub me the wrong way. Then Beth tries to get back into the swing of things but makes one bad decision after the other.
As the book progresses, the tension grows, and grows, and grows. There is drama, arguments, and as I mentioned the proverbial secrets and lies component. Plus, not knowing who can be trusted kept things moving along. This is a long book and at times felt long. That is my biggest issue with the book.I don't mind reading long books at all but when they feel long - that is another issue. This is my first book by this author, and it has piqued my interest and I look forward to reading more of her books.
*This book touches on serious issues such as mental health, death, and addiction to name a few.

Austin and Kate Yates are shocked and alarmed when Mia, their teenage daughter, is traumatized when an intimate picture of her goes viral. Austin goes into protection mode and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his daughter. Judgement, gossip, assumptions, lies, deception and secrets swirl around them as their lives get turned upside down!
Nicola Marsh does a great job building tension and delivering drama. Online attacks and the leaking intimate photos are something that a lot of teens and adults have experienced. Readers are given the POVs of Mia, Austin, Kate which is a nice touch giving readers insight into their thoughts and motivations. I felt for Mia and her feelings about the intimate pictures of her being shared online.
This book seemed straightforward when I started it, but it soon became apparent that Marsh had a few twists up her sleeve. This book had a nice number of twists and reveals which kept the book moving at a nice pace and kept me fully invested.
I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrators did a great job of bringing this book to life.

This is the 5th book in the Chief Maggie Riley series and would work nicely as a stand-alone if you have not read the previous books in the series. But the previous books are fast, gripping and thrilling so I do recommend reading them first! As with the previous books, The Day She Died instantly grabbed my attention and held a firm grasp on it throughout the book! I enjoyed the pacing, the investigative work, the twists, the tension, the danger, and the shocking moments in this book!
Ruby Anderson died over twenty years ago - at least that is what everyone thought! Imagine the surprise and complete and utter shock everyone felt when Ruby Anderson's body was found in a burned trailer. How can this be? She died on a kayaking trip all those years ago, didn't she? There were whispers about how she was pulled under by the river rapids. But Ruby did not drown. Her autopsy shows a different story...
I enjoy this thrilling series and those who work with Maggie. I enjoyed the tension, the suspense, the twists, the reveals, and the interactions between the characters. I have always enjoyed the balance between Maggie's personal life and her professional life. She and her fiancé, Steve, have been planning their wedding but Steve is out of town handling what he has been keeping secret for the entire series.
As I mentioned, secrets are the name of the game in this book and everyone has one. Solving this case will not be easy - are they ever easy?????? I enjoyed the tension, the dread, the dark secrets, the feeling of unease and mounting danger that occurred during this book. Maggie is one tough cookie who does not back down, and I admire her tenacity, courage, drive, and spunk.
Gripping, mysterious, well written, well thought out, and dripping with secrets!

Gripping, tense, shocking, and full of twists, My Son's Girlfriend shows one mother's determination to find her son and prove his innocence! Jennifer receives a midnight call from her son, Dan, who is away at college. The call is brief and to the point. He informs her that it wasn't him. Jennifer then learns from the police that Dan's girlfriend, Ella, is dead and they are looking for her son. Desperate to locate her son and clear his name, Jennifer goes on a quest to get to the bottom of things. This is very personal to her not only because she needs to clear her son's name but also because Ella's murder is just like her Jennifer’s best friend’s murder twenty years ago. Holy Moly!
This book is a tense, suspenseful thriller full of dread, danger, twists, revelations, and suspense. I enjoyed how this book showed how far a parent is willing to go for their child. The pacing was spot on and added to the tense vibe that flowed throughout the book. As Jennifer searches for the truth, readers get glimpses into the past and what unfolded during that timeline. This book had a great mystery, and I had to know what was going to happen next! Just when I thought I had a handle on things, Kerry Wilkinson added another element to the story which intensified my interest and desire to know if Jennifer would be able to clear her son's name.

Her husband spends a lot of money on memorabilia, her son has gotten into trouble at school and her daughter has anxiety. If that is not enough, she is experiencing perimenopause. This was a cool premise. Ever wonder is Siri or Alexa are listening? In The Woman with All the Answers, Alexa is listening. I love that Finlay Donovan, Vero, her ex-husband, Steven, her boyfriend, Nick, and even her nosey neighbor, Mrs. Haggerty are all involved in the action in Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave!! I have been listening to the audiobooks in this series, and they are absolutely fantastic and wonderfully narrated!! I highly recommend them!
A dead body has been found buried in Mrs. Haggerty's back yard. Mrs. Haggerty, the president of the neighborhood watch, is Finlay's nosey, busy body, neighborhood. The neighborhood is shocked and scandalized with the deadly find but Mrs. Haggerty is soon cleared of the crime and soon Finlay and Vero find themselves becoming involved in Mrs. Haggerty's antics as a question loom over their heads -- how did a body end up in Mrs. Haggerty's back yard?????
Fun, fun, fun!!!! It bears saying again, this is such a fun, entertaining and engaging series. I am often smiling while listening as I shake my head at the characters’ antics, banter, zany situations they find themselves in, and their realistic feelings and vulnerabilities. There is never a dull moment as the whole gang finds themselves knee deep in some ridiculous and crazy situations. I enjoyed the twists, the revelations, the tension, the antics, and the fun characters!
As with the previous books, this one left me wanting more and wondering what was going to happen in the next book!
Wonderfully written, well thought out, clever dialogue, and gripping!
