The book was a bombshell, definitely worth the waiting and I couldn't let go of it once i started reading it at all!
it always gets at me how everyone underestimate Adrian constantly and treat him as the underdog. among the 'gang' he's the only person with truely no questionable morals, he's genuinely a good fun person, and he never fails to amaze me. I loved how this book gave me a better outlook on the spirit effect, and the true extent of his powers, he's the best 'Dream Walker' that ever existed among spirit users, and boy, of he isn't welcome to walk my dreams any time day or night!
Sydney was as strong as ever, but has grown uncharacteristically reckless. As their relationship blossoms so does her desire to be free of the Alchemists curse, and she dances a razor's edge with the danger of being discovered as she keept on using magic searching for new methods to assist the rebels.
Through every meeting I could sense the love that unites them and the despair of their separation, together they're capable of achieving the impossible.. but separated, they're fragile
and and and! I absolutely ship Wolfie with Jackie! they're so dynamic ♥
my only disappointment is an old remark; Miss Mead needs to pick up a dictionary and learn some new words, or take up few English classes to improve her skills. I'd expect her to improve at writing, after all this is the tenth book or so in the Moroi world, yet if anything, her Style had downright degraded....more

He went out of his way so much for her.. They're perfect for each other. ...more

Which is very sad, considering what a promising book it was. I just have few points which really pissed me off!
1.There was absolutely no character development, if anything, I felt they were more mature and well built at the beginning of the series than at this point. It was agonizing watch them falling so much. 2. Rose playing Adrian! wtf was that for? is that the kind of message you want to send readers? it's OK to have back up and play him while wait for your true epic love to come back.. She Cheapened herself and Adrian, I was disgusted. 3. Demetri Demetri Demetri! Enough! we got it already! he's hot, he's gorgeous, he's all f* fifty shades of god, and I also don't care!! There's no depth in his character whatsoever. 4. The expected plot.. WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN? I could have written the book myself since I expected 99% of what's gonna happen! the 1%? how mean and unkind she was to Adrian.
The only redeeming quality about the book was the ending. It was surprising and fresh and i why I didn't kill this book with a one star rating. ...more

The first half of the book was quiet, but the second half was like an explosion! I held my breath until the last page with anticipation and couldn't wait till the next one. This book marks the first appearance -of what will later develop to be my favorite character- Sidney Sage . Something in her triggered my brain cells back immediately to Adrian. She was religious, uptight, strict and organized; the exact opposite of the "silly, shallow, party-lover" outrageously obscene Adrian. Not to mention their involvement will be the ultimate taboo in both of their worlds, breaking every single rule. and boy of tabooed relationships were not my weakness.
(view spoiler)[ My heart skipped several beats when she met Demetri! and when he took her to his lair and offered to change her, i was dumbstruck to the core! Her escape was the most amazing event in the entire six books, it was so emotional, hard and well planned.
But as every other book, it was pretty expected. I knew Abe was her father from the first mention of his name, i knew she was going to escape and Dimitri didn't die in that fall, along with everything else that came later. (hide spoiler)]...more

The plot picked up but the characters did not. We finally got to see the Strigoi! They were straight dead out of a horror realm! the details were nice and I pretty much loved Janine Hathaway. But the peak part to me was the appearance of the almighty Adrian Ivashkov. It was one of those moments when a girl realizes she fell in love; and I fell hard. ...more

I won't categorize it as a favorite, but it was definitely interesting enough to push me to the next one in the series. That said, It's a very good young adult book series. Rose Hathaway is one of the strongest female characters, she's beautiful and brave, if I were 15, I'd definitely make her my role model. I didn't worm up to Dimitri too much, I could definitely understand the appeal though; he's tall, dark, and cold -too cold for my liking- he'll drive any girl nuts. but I found him lacking the necessary depth, perhaps that would have been remedied if rose fangirled about anything beside his ridiculously good looks. all in all it was a solid series, But extremely expected. 3.5 - 4 stars. ...more
