This was a gothic thriller steeped in fantasy. The story was told in dual timelines following both Mabel and Pearl, and eventually the timelines merged together in the present. Both Mabel and Pearl are sent Lichen House, a home for unwed, pregnant mothers to have their babies. What they found was a creepy house surrounded by fungi.
I really enjoyed this book and the author does an amazing job of weaving a thriller with fantasy that keeps you turning the pages to see what craziness happens next. I love stories that are told in dual timelines and I really connected with Pearl's character and was addicted to the story.
The Ghost Woods was definitely very atmospheric and creepy. The author has a gift for storytelling. The imagery put you right there in the action and the descriptive writing left you feeling what the characters were feeling.
I have now read two books by this author and am very interested in looking into her backlog.
Great book!

This book had such amazing and loveable characters and such TJ Klune's books are a balm for the soul and the warm hug you didn't know that you needed!
This book had such amazing and loveable characters and such a fun storyline. Even though this book was a bit of a science-fiction fantasy, I still absolutely loved it.
The adventure that you'll go on with these characters is so fun and I dare you to not fall in love with the characters, especially Artemis Darth Vader. Oh gosh I just loved this book so much. This isn't much for a long or detailed review because it's hard to put into words what I'm feeling but I can tell you that I left this book with a big smile on my face!
The Bones Beneath My Skin is a must read that I would most certainly recommend to anyone!...more

Lovable characters, wonky house, and fantastic storyline. This book truly is amazing and I just can't say a single bad thing about it. Perfection!...more

The characters were a bit hard to like and that made it really hard for me. I did stick it out and finish it but I definitely will not be reading the second book in the duology....more

I didn't absolutely love it like the first book but it was still really good with it's super hot clubs and even hotter characters. I read some reviews that said that the plot was a little lost in this one but in my opinion, it really didn't and I don't think that the sexual scenes overpowered it. I will definitely keep reading this series as the books are released. Another great romantic fantasy by Kerri Maniscalco!...more

Besides already being interested in reading this book, because I absolutely loved Emilia Hart's debut novel *Weyward*, I was immediately drawn in by the gorgeous cover.
This book is told in different POV's by: Lucy, Jess, and Mary. I was most captivated by Lucy's POV and we also get the most story from her character as well.
The book has alternate timelines and I really enjoyed both. In fact, I wish that we got a little bit more of the timeline from 200 years ago, I would've liked to learn a bit more from Mary about herself and her sister Eliza.
Like her first novel, we get to experience that focuses on the bonds between women, sisters - specifically and strong women at that. It was nice to see the women be presented with their obstacles and learn how to empower themselves to overcome what was pushed in their way.
I will say that I struggled a bit at the beginning getting into this book and it took awhile for the story to really get going.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this book and loved learning a bit of history that went along with the novel. I think it was once again, a beautifully written book just like her debut *Weyward*. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend.
Expected Release Date - April 1st 2025

This book had a slower start that I struggled with a little bit but once it got going, I really enjoyed it. It was a cute romantic comedy and took place in Scotland and I loved it. It also had a paranormal aspect that I enjoyed as well. Although, this wasn't my favorite, I still enjoyed it....more

I was expecting dual timelines with flashing back between the year 1692 and the present day but it only glances back to 1692 and those times weren't very in-depth chapters. It does mention the Salem Witch Trials but don't be expecting a lot of information about it because there simply isn't much available. I was also expecting a book that centers around a "Vanishing Bookstore" but that was also something that was only glanced upon in the book two times, this was pretty disappointing for me. I had trouble staying interested in the book and overall was quite disappointed, unfortunately.
This book is expected to be published January 7th 2025.

Doreen must break the curse before she turns 30 or die of a broken heart and the only way to break the curse is to go through a series of trials meant to challenge them: mentally, emotionally and physically, which takes them to a castle in Scotland, off a cliff and into another world that could only exist in their nightmares.
Overall, I thought that the book was very good. The storyline was strong with a cast of loveable and well-written characters. The storyline was based both on plot and characters and did a good job on both. My only complaint is that many of the chapters were way too long and in my opinion needed to be broken down. I think that this would be a great witchy romance for the spooky season or any other time of the year and I enjoyed it.
