** spoiler alert ** I had a rough start with this book. There is a lot going on and a lot of new terminology introduced fairly quickly. Once I got used to all the different factors and the terminology I thought it was a good book. The biggest problem I had is there wasn't always a good distinction between who was talking, and there wasn't a good distinction between "scenes." The main character could be on earth, on another planet, in a simulation of another planet or simply dreaming and it wasn't always clear which was happening. And as I said at the beginning, there is a lot going on. This is a book I will probably re-read because there are things I feel like I might have missed or don't quite understand. I also found the end a bit troubling. The book felt like a big build up to a major war on this other planet but at the end it was just glossed over and all of a sudden it was 40 years later and the main character was back on earth (I think).

I'm not going to lie, this was really hard for me to get into at first, but I'm glad I stuck with it because it was different. All the elements that made it so difficult for me to read are also what made it so interesting.
