it was amazing

Literally one of the finest books I've ever read, and one that will stay with me for a long time. I can see that it's not for everyone: it's not only to do with the reader's level of intelligence but with their reasons for reading. This is not mere entertainment; it's literature. Obviously it is written from the point of view of a person who does a job (concierge) which is unfamiliar to readers in most English-speaking countries, and this could inhibit their ability to appreciate the nature of Renee's relationship with her employers. Even before I looked at the reviews, I had started to wonder who I could give the book to, realising that many of my friends would not enjoy it. If that makes me sound like a snob, I couldn't care less, because I am so joyful at having had the opportunity to read something so mind-blowing.
