Ann (annrumsey) | 16659 comments Our second July group read (it's summer and time for thrillers!) is Hannah Mary McKinnon's Never Coming Home. US Release date May 24, 2022
We hope you will join in the discussion when a copy is available. Are you planning on reading this book?
No spoilers please on this topic thread.

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments It's downloaded onto my tablet along with The Paris Apartment.

I figured I would read that one first before starting Never Coming Home. Most likely be at the 2nd half of July before I start.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16659 comments Jess: The Libby estimate for this one is still 3 weeks. Sometimes those estimates do come up sooner. It will be after The Paris Apartment for me too. Looking forward to it!

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9332 comments Ooh. Didn't I just post that I had too many on my list to add anything else? But, this last line of the GR ad hooked me...

"Told with dark wit and a sharply feminist sensibility, Never Coming Home is a terrifying tale of duplicity that will have you side-eyeing your spouse as you dash to the breathtaking end."

Luckily I don't have a spouse to side-eye (love that term) so you spouses will have to tell me if that happens, LOL.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9332 comments Uh-oh, I just requested it and I'm number one for the audio. Yikes!

Ann (annrumsey) | 16659 comments Carol: isn't that always the way when we are extra over-booked!

Ha-ha...when I read that line, I thought of all the times I was mad or aggravated with the hubby that I couldn't pass a photo of him without rolling my eyes at it.

I'm planning to listen to this group read and for The Paris Apartment e-book read so will wait on my library turn for this one on audio.

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments My local book club chose this also for our book of the month, so slow and steady. Started it last night.

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments I think I just had my "side-eye your spouse" moment😒🙄

LOL. Can't wait!

Russ | 347 comments It's good! The main character is a sicko but somehow keeps me engaged anyway. Three quarters of the way through and I don't know how it will end. Unless the ending falls to pieces I'm pretty sure the group will enjoy this book.

I've never read it but I sooo have my theory...I just have that kind of mind. I totally agree with your thoughts on Lucas, but I love it when Authors make it from this kind of character's POV

Ann (annrumsey) | 16659 comments Just got my turn for the audio, so after I finish the latest Rizzoli and Isles, Listen To Me, I'll start this one. Looking forward to it (I think, ... with a 'sicko' mc)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9332 comments I just started Overboard after finishing The Paris Apartment. Never Coming Home is next maybe.

message 17: by Russ (new) - rated it 3 stars

Russ | 347 comments I finished it. I will try to work on a synopsis tonight for the other thread unless somebody else has been taking notes & is close to the end.

message 18: by Ann (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ann (annrumsey) | 16659 comments Russ, that was quick! If you want to do a synopsis on the spoilers thread, feel free. A few group reads back we loosely decided to forego doing the ‘full synopsis’ method of commenting on the spoilers welcome thread. It was seeming like more of a chore than fun to do. Having a short synopsis is still fine, but now instead we encourage those who would prefer to just comment to mention how far along their spoilers cover in the book and jump in without the synopsis requirement.

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments I'm at the end of chapter 35....WHY???!!! If you know, you know and that's enough about that🤬

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9332 comments Wow, Jess. Talk about cryptic! ;-)

message 21: by Ann (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ann (annrumsey) | 16659 comments Carol: yes it is, .. and I returned the book to the library so can't go back and check the chapter. I had a few "WHY???" moments while reading.

Sorry, I didnt want to go further in case someone hasn't read that far yet. I was almost in tears and it ticked me off that I didn't want to read any further. I'll post it in the spoiler section when I get done. I most likely will finish tomorrow.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9332 comments I just started listening to this and am hooked. Can't wait to get to Chapter 35 and Jess's "why????" moment, LOL, but I'm a LONG way off.

message 25: by Jess (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments Carol: You will come to understand why I didn't want to continue reading. I just finished it moments ago and now going to the "Spoiler" thread.
