she answered to some fan questions and then she signed our books and took some pictures, then i had to leave, my arents wouldnt let me stay longer...

I can think of a few other men I'd smell....David Boreanaz and Sheemar Moore for instance :)

*Running to see who Gerard Butler is*
Did you tell her I said she is great and I want her to come to Wisconsin. LOL!
So, happy it went well. I even happy that you have a funny story about the sniffer girl.

Ha. The guy from PS I Love You. I was sad that he had such a short roll. :(

Ursula Hegi
Garrett Hongo
Bill McKibben
Eddy Harris
Garrison Keillor
There are a few others who escape me right now. University of North Dakota has an annual Writer's Conference and we get some good authors in - I missed Art Spiegelman this year. :(
Ursula Hegi has been one of my favorite authors since I read Stones from the River in about 1998. When I was in graduate school she came to UND - she taught a writing seminar that I took part in, and she spoke and read from her yet to be published book at that point, Sacred Time: A Novel. It was one of the best experinces I had in college.
Eddy Harris was also very interesting - my grad class went out for drinks with him after an event, and the restaurant was called "Whitey's". Eddy Harris (who is not white) looked around and asked in a semi-serious fashion, "Is it OK for me to go in here?"

Does anyone here know someone who has written a book that's been published?

And Gerard Butler is sexy with that accent. Maybe that's part of his charm!
accents are always sexy! Especially European accents.

an impressive list. ursula hegi has written some great novels. and to study under her, wow.

Sandra Cisneros
Abraham Verghese
Elie Wiesel
these are a few i've met. when i went to the cisneros reading, i was so excited about meeting her afterward at the book signing.
i left my book in the truck, so my husband ran back to get it. as he's walking back to the theater (the place where the reading is taking place) he runs into cisneros and the host of the reading, someone moises knows. the host introduces moises to cisneros and they have a small chat. he asks her to autograph my book, but she says, "not before. i'm in the zone." chance encounters with celebrities, musicians, etc. always happen to moises!
I've read Sandra Cisneros's book The House on Mango Street twice.
I have two Tim O'Brien books on the shelf.

what about authors? which authors have you met and how?
my most memorable meeting is elie wiesel. he was doing a lecture at my university. i was waiting after class for the lecture to begin and my current romanticism professor (at the time) escorted mr. wiesel into the building. i was able to shake his hand and say hello. not much. but what an author to meet!
tell me who you've had the honor of meeting and any stories that go along with that encounter.
