A beautiful, slow paced novel with a haunting ending.

The premise of this novel follows Pip, an orphan boy living with his grown-up sister and her husband, the village blacksmith, from early childhood to adulthood, sharing with the reader his development as a character throughout his adventures.
Pip begins as a cowardly, dishonest, abused child, and ends as a strong young man.
