MIDNIGHT REFLECTIONS Julia's midnight reflections actually happened about four in the morning. She was far from home, lonely, watching a handsome man sleeping in her bed at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Robin, the handsome sleeping man, had put himself in terrible danger so she could solve a mystery. She had managed to rescue him, but now she was feeling guilty as hellJulia is enacting a dangerous undercover role herself, working to complete her late brother's manuscript for a famous movie producer, while trying to find out why her brother was murdered. The other mystery was who this man, Robin, really was. She feared he might be much more than the simple mechanic he proclaimed himself to be. Can she really trust him?Robin, while helping her in the investigation, actually is playing a role of his own, hiding his true identity, trying to win her heart. Together, Julia and Robin manage to uncover information so explosive they are forced to flee a furiously angry and influential politician, who rules an army of people willing to do anything to get in his good graces. Even murder.
Trifecta: This is the big one. A compilation of three novels, The Living Image, Midnight Reflections and The Necromancer http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006O1W8GI
I seem to be in the minority here but this book was $.99 to much and 20 something chapters too long. I like a good thriller romance but this book wasn't it. The dialogue was stilted in places and completely muddled in others. For all her intellect, it took Julia a really long time to figure out that Robin wasn't some poor mechanic. The author droned on in many places and I just didn't connect with the story at all because it was just unbelievable...a lawyer and a photographer brought down a drug kingpin with what appeared to be a good deal of high jinks. And don't get me started on how Julia found out about the "bet". She acted so dramatically that I wanted to hurt her. The whole "present" dialogue irritated me because it just kept going on and on...unnecessarily so. So...in a nutshell, I won't be reading anything from this author again.
The book starts in a setting of hardship and loneliness as Julie from Boston has found her brother Brian in California apparently robbed and unconscious in the hospital. Through several quick actions she has him moved to a more highly recommended hospital, and because she had parked in a no parking, she found herself having to scurry around to pay the fine. But as luck would have it they had towed her car off the site and obviously wrong as she couldn't use it.. Enters Robin. Scruffy.. who's apparent timing couldn't be better in helping her and getting her to her brothers side. She automatically assumes with his attire he is a mechanic. So many events happened in this book.. that had you glued to every line. From working with her brother's former boss Aaron Quijada, a man who was looking for a high end election, and possible drug ties amongst OTHER things, to running around with Robin who she has no real idea who he is other than a mechanic, having a hit put out on her, and falling for a man that she just really didn't think would be for her, she's a stuck up snob from Boston as far as they all knew. I loved this book..
Move over Nora Roberts! Pam Richter writes a fast paced thriller with romance skilfully interwoven. Robin is my new hero and I hope he figures in future books. He's a tough lawyer with a soft centre and pots of money - who wouldn't fall in love with him? He meets the beautiful Julia who is trying to find out who killed her brother and is unafraid to join him in taking on the baddies. Luckily, Robin has enough good friends to form a posse to fight evil in the form of a powerful film producer who deals in drugs and pornography. I couldn't put this book down and urge you to read it. Oh, and the catalyst for romance? A Make-My-Day yellow monster vehicle - a girl puller if ever there was one!
LOVED & HATED THIS BOOK AT THE SAME TIME. THE STORY LINE KEPT ME POKING PAGES ON MY KINDLE WANTING TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. READING WAS LIKE WATCHING A MOVIE LOVED THE CHARACTERS ESPECIALLY ROBIN (love a man with dimples either set of cheeks will do) LOL JULIA (the girl has balls a big brass set) HAD ME SCARED TO DEATH WITH HER INVESTIGATING. I LOVE WHEN A BOOK CAN MAKE ME FEEL LIKE THAT BUT WHAT A STRAIN ON MY POOR NERVES. YIKES! ;D
Midnight Reflections, my fourth enjoyable read from author P.M. Richter. Well-written with captivating, intriguing characters. 11-hours 36-minute/325-pages. More romancy. more suspense than the earlier books I'd read but when it takes off, building to a crescendo, wait no spoilers here, buy the book, in whatever format, read & review the book. I was given an Audible copy of this book a year ago & am just getting around to listening to it. Gregory Salinas’s excellent narration again adds to the book's enjoyment. I'll definitely be reading more from this author! In fact, The Necromancer is in the near future. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
It could have been great. Another book that is degrading to women. Following a trend of a protagonist that is an idiot, superficial, emotional, irrational and jumps to conclusions The end was just painfully reading the main character retelling what we had already read. Can we get a female lead that is sensible, intelligent, levelheaded and doesn’t look perfect in every way for a change? So many errors as well I doubt it was proofed
This novel started with photographer Julia Monay, trying desperately to figure out why her younger brother lay viciously beaten and fighting for his life in a hospital bed. As she tries to find out what happened, her car gets towed at the hospital. The “mechanic” who helps her out, Robin Chavier, seems to take an interest in her as well. Robin, then overhears something in the hospital, which lead him to believe that Julia Monay’s brother may not have been a random mugging victim. So Robin decides that he will help Julia find out what happened, as a concerned citizen…and as a way to get closer to Julia. So begins the adventures of Robin and Julia as crime solvers. The author mentioned that Julia already had a boyfriend, a doctor named Alexander. It was also clear that Julia didn’t have “the forever” feelings for Alexander, even though he was everything society says a girl should want. It appeared the author was trying to set up a love triangle, but there was no real competition between the doctor and the dirty mechanic. As Julia and Robin work together to solve this crime, they become closer to real danger and closer to each other. When Julia finds out information both about who Robin really is, Julia is forced to make some decisions about her future.
Honestly, this story was quite predictable and it was a couple of chapters too long. Many things in this novel were not realistic. The antagonist didn’t have enough bite to go with his bark. If he was as ruthless as the author would have us to believe, then many of his behaviors didn’t match up, i.e., location of the safe and combination, video tapes, his talkative housekeeper etc. Things were too easy for the amateurs, so the plot rang a little hollow in those areas for me. The hero and heroine were too good. My favorite quote from Robin to Julia was “And you know, everyone talks about making out, or having sex, but really, people basically just need to be hugged every once and a while.” I didn’t really feel the emotion between the characters as I read about it. I didn’t really connect well with them, especially the Julia. Her actions seemed reckless and impulsive to me. I think that a woman of her financial resources would have checked Robin out more thoroughly. Another thing that was just unbelievable was the scene where the two officers discussed Robin so casually in front of Julia. They didn’t even glance to make sure she wasn’t listening. I didn’t buy it at all. Lastly, Sarah’s change seemed contrived. Women don’t give up something they want that easily. It was a character that the novel could have done without as she really didn’t provide anything to the plot.
Overall, it was an okay read. The ending was sweet. I would like to thank the author for providing me a copy of this book.

Hmmm, so how do I want to explain my thoughts on this book? It was sad how a young man who is writing an autobiography gets beaten for finding out something bad about the person he is writing the book about. Not something you would expect to happen to anyone you know, but I'm sure something like this has happened before. That part of the story was very believable. Where things started to blur for me was Julia. Talk about stubborn and idiotic. She is portrayed as smart, but what smart person does all of the dumb things this woman does throughout the book?
First, she is a snob. She doesn't think so, but all she knew about Robin was what she saw initially and jumped to conclusions from there. And with those erroneous conclusions, even with as attractive as he is, she would not deign to get involved with him.
Second, Robin tells her not to do something dangerous and what does she do, rushes right out to do it.
Third, how blind or clueless can you be not to figure out Robin was more than what she originally thought with all of the clues that man dropped? And how do you not question everything you see or hear?
Fourth, when you do find out things aren't what they seem, you run away?
Fifth, then you come back and right back into dangerous and stupid situations.
Ok, so it isn't that I didn't like Julia, she was just so UGH. I have never wanted to shake someone who wasn't annoying as badly as her. She just had to have her way.
Now for Robin. Biggest mistake, not coming clean when they got really close. I couldn't fault him for why he did what he did given her attitude towards him, but he definitely waited too long to tell her the truth.
So all in all, I did like the story and it could have been a comedy given some of the things that happened in this book if the topic itself was not pretty serious.
BRIEF SUMMARY Julia leaves Boston to go to California when her brother Brian is beaten severely. Brian was working on a book about Aaron Quijada, notorious drug lord and pedophile. Brian uncovers some truths about Mr. Quijada that ultimately leads to his death. Julia is determined to find out who did this and retaliate. By chance she meets Robin, a successful handsome lawyer pretending to be a mechanic. Together they go undercover to try and solve this mystery.
THOUGHTS
I really liked this story! Robin and Julia has this new relationship that "just feels right", they immediately trust each other as they are thrust in the throes of danger. This story has suspense, murder and a blossoming relationship. I liked Julia's character; she is strong and determined, yet distraught over the death of her brother. Robin is the ultimate protector and he really puts it on the line for Julia. Robin's friend Jay is a great character and could see him having his own story. Well done to the author. I think romantic-suspense readers will like this read.
at first i thought it will be a good thriller but turn out to be an average story. The so call herowin, Julia is somewhat vague, and perthatic with her believe that Robin is just a plain macanic. Not only that, how can easily work in to her brother's unit and then found out all this evidents, and without a single moment, able to work with her broter's formal boss, aka the bad guy. In another hand, Robin, as a very important lawyer, a son of some famous very important politician can let go of work without so much so of anything and go all hero and try to protect the herowin, a girl, who, he meet only ones, less than 24 hours ago. This book have a good potential as a good thriller, but i think, the author need to make up her mind as to who she wants to be the herowin of the book, either give Robin a stronger voice, or make Julia, a more solert character. If author insist to have the elimants of romance in the book is fine, but considering the way this book is written, i think, one needing to decide either it should be a good thriller story, or a vague "yet another cheesy romance". If Goodreads allow .5 on the rating scale, this will be a good 2.5* rating.
I liked this book, but I didn't love it. It did have flaws, but overall the story was interesting.
Julia, however, was a bit annoying as a heroine. She was really wishy/washy and a bit childish over the whole Robin thing and she behaved like my least favorite type of character - risking the lives of others over her stupidity and stubbornness. She also seemed quite naive - someone has murdered her brother and now knows she is on to them, yet just by going home she is supposed to be safe? And somehow figures he is not serious about wanting to kill her? Huh?
Anyway, Julia's flaws aside, the book was enjoyable. The part after the climax was a bit longer than it needed to be, but this book was not bad at all and I'm very grateful that Ms. Richter gave me the opportunity to read and review this. Thank you.

The basics of the story and much of the writing is very good. But I decided I can only give it 3 stars because of the numerous negatives.
It has a bad guy POV scene early on that adds nothing but ruins some of the suspense and mystery. It also has multiple small POV breaks.
Ridiculous editing failures, such as "wining machines" and "Capitol letters."
Viewing undeveloped film in normal lighting?? The story seems modern, yet the photographer is devoted to using exclusively film. Digital has been available for ages, so it seems like she ought to at least have both.
Oddity of wanting a DNA test to match "blood type." It also talks of a possible "degraded sample," but I am sure they routinely test things years old.
So overall the book would benefit from some clean up, so I wouldn't get distracted from the good stuff.
I really liked this one. Of course, I'm the author, so I have to admit to a bit of prejudice. Romance is not one of my favorite genres, so I decided to write one that I would like. I hope others will enjoy it as well. It's the top seller of the three novels I have on Kindle and Nook.
I like to support new authors, I like also to define a book... This one is not chick lit, it isn't a mystery and it's not a romance... It has a lot of good ideas in it, but it lacks of strength. The end is too predictable, es: why one of Robin's friends doesn't turn to be a double player, or something like this?!
question for the author: Was this book edited or directly published?
I could not put this book down! It was heart wrenching at first as you go through a tragedy with Julia the main character however as the story goes on the action begins and you end up in a world of drug lords, murderers and pedophiles. So thrilling I have no nails left but even after all of that there is a love story that develops and it evens out some of the sadness that happens to Julia.
Though not as intense and fast paced as most of the romantic suspense I read, the plot was engaging and interesting and kept me reading. The plot is well developed and continues two chapters past where most would end. I didn't mind that. This book is plot-driven. I prefer a plot heavier on romance, but I liked this book and the characters.
This story is badly in need of a proof reader. Also, it appears the formatting is a bit off. Among the places where it appears to have a tab and no carriage return, the homonyms that are wrong and misspellings, I detected 28 errors and I didn't mark them all. This story is more Romance than Suspense although it has both elements. On the other hand it does have a good plot.
This book was goofy! I felt like it was too jumpy. Julia was a ding dong putting herself into stupid and dangerous situations. In fact, she should have died in chapter 4. I liked the hero "Robin" except for the name. Robin was the best she could do? Thankfully, this was free on my kindle.
