Jaye is the award winning and bestselling Australian author of five psychological thrillers. Her first novel, Beyond Fear, was the highest selling debut crime novel in Australia in 2011 and won two Davitt Awards for Best Debut and Readers’ Choice. Her books have been translated into nine languages and are now available everywhere.

Jaye loves to thrust ordinary women into extraordinary circumstances and make them dig deep to survive. Her thrillers are set in the Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia, where she lives (and loves to turn into crime scenes).

When she’s not writing, she’s interviewing other authors in libraries and at writers festivals, running writing masterclasses and talking to readers. Occasionally she needs a break from the dark stuf

You were right the first time, it is based on Wangi but I changed a few of the landmarks to suit the story, which is why I decided to change the name. If you know Wangi, you'll know the gun emplacements are quite where I put them and a few other details. I've lived by the lake for years also and decided it was time to write a book set there. When I was looking at where, a friend who lives in Wangi walked me around and it was so lovely and creepy that I couldn't resist using it. Thanks for the question, I hope you'll look for my other thrillers. Happy reading, Jaye

I had it bad a couple of years ago and I tried to push through but the writing was terrible and made me feel worse. Finally, I took a break, read lots of other people's books - good books that fed my imagination - and got back to it. I tried not to think about deadlines or editing or how good or bad the words were and just tried to get down story. Style and finesse and rewriting came later ... and finally it became Darkest Place!
