College is supposed to be a time of exploring new things, learning about yourself, and having a good time doing it. For Max Henley, it was the hardest time of his life. During his sophomore year, his best friend and lover, Nick, was killed in a car wreck. A car Max had been driving. Now two years later, Max has thrown himself into his studies. Side-lined from football due to an injury sustained during the wreck, Max's entire focus is on academics. Well, that and his Professor, Alec Demakis. The problem is, whenever Max thinks about his Professor, the guilt over Nick's death returns. Can Max ever forgive himself enough to love again?

I picked this up because one of the MCs is Greek. But sweet.baby.Jesus....it was bad, bad, bad!

I'm going to ignore the BDSM factor because I'm no expert in it. Although it seems ridiculous, bordering on offensive that their relationship progressed from teacher-student to lovers to full on D/S in a matter of hours. Especially since the "sub" had no prior experience, and pretty much knew nothing about the lifestyle. When I say full on, I mean:

"It just won't be an equal partnership as far as decisions go. What I say goes. You have the right to argue if you feel passionately about something, but I'll be top dog when we're together. I may ask you to do things from time to time that you feel uncomfortable with. If you want to make your Babas happy, you'll do them.

So, this sorry excuse of a Greek Dom, has the word "Babas" tattooed on his chest. Which means "father/dad" in Greek. Not daddy. Dad. Because he wants to be the dad in the relationship and he demands that this is what his sub must call him. He has also tatooed the word "protector" in Ancient Greek. Above his cock! Hold on a minute....

And it gets creepier better, because Babas likes to call his sub "little man" while fucking.

"Open wide for me, little man. I'm going to fuck your pretty mouth this morning."
...................................................................

"Go ahead, little man. Come for Babas."

Hold on again, while I'm losing my shit...

Cheesy dialogue, poor editing, OTT ending, unbeliavable story and very unfortunate choice of words(which you won't notice, unless you 're Greek).

Maybe some things would have worked, had the story been longer. In any case, this was a big miss for me.

I have thought about what I was going to say about this book all day. I am torn because I honestly don't know hot to rate it. I liked the characters, and I am definately going to continue to read the rest of the series, but I have some problems with this one.

The story starts four years after the first book in this series, Coach. Luc and Justin have relocated, and Justin is now a coach at a local college. They continue to be very happy, but are worried about Luc's son Max.

Max was once a star of the college football team. He was fun and lighthearted and was well-liked by everyone who met him. When he and his lover were in a horrible car accident 2 years ago, it changed his life forever. Not only was Max's lover killed, but he substained injuries that closed his football career forever.

Two years after the accident, Max is about to graduate from College and will soon be attending graduate school. Even though he is doing well in school, he is still grieving over his lost lover and is bitter because of the changes with his body. He has changed much over the past years. He is more withdrawn, and pushes people away to keep from getting hurt. The one thing that he has allowed himself to feel is his crush on his Greek Mythology Professor, Alec Demakis. So when Professor Demakis asks to meet Max after his last class Max is excited and frightened that the big handsome greek has noticed his crush on him.

Alec has had feelings for Max every since he met him four years ago. He has watched the once vibrant man change since the accident, and his heart cries out to soothe his pain away. Alec's ethics have kept him from approaching the younger man, but since Max is about to graduate, Alec has been looking for an opportunity to approach Max. When Alec finds out his fellow professor is looking for someone to do some research for him over the summer, Alec immediately volunteers Max, knowing Max would be working close to him and this would give him a chance to get better aquainted.

Max is surprised by Alec's request, and jumps at the chance to work at the college and close to the professor he has dreamed about. When Alec starts confronting Max about his unhappiness and restlessness in his life, Max must make the decision to either go on with his life or continue to wallow in his grief.

First, let me say I DID like this story. I liked Max's character. He has been through hell and although has stumbled with his recovery, he basically is strong and eventually determined to overcome the pain and loss of this past. I even liked Alec. He is big and brash, and definately a force to be reckoned with.

I had several problems with this book. I thought some of the dynamics of Max and Alec's relationship was off-kilter. Alec is a natural dominant and insists that Max submit to him in all ways. Now, Max doesn't walk around with a leash or anything, but Alec makes all of the decisions in their relationship and has a schedule Max must follow...and so on. I have read BDSM books before, and most of the time I like them, but I had some problems with this one. Maybe it was because it was pushed on Max so quickly, and in less than a week they are living together and Max has given into Alec's demands without much fight.

PLUS, I HATED the pet name Alec forces Max to call him. I thought it was inappropriate...but that is my opinion. There were times the dialog made me roll my eyes and I would have to walk away from it too.

What sucks is I thought this book had a lot of potiental. But, it fell to the wayside for me. I will continue to read this series because I am interested in the turnout and meeting new characters (plus I really enjoyed Carol's Cattle Valley series) but I can't rate this book much higher than a 3. It's really more like a 2.5 for me...I just thought that Max deserved better and Alec could have been better written. I am interested to see how their relationship will be portrayed later on.

Omg! I did not like this book at all! It went way beyond my comfort zone and made my skin crawl. Even from the beginning, I was a little creeped out about the teacher-student relationship. But the D/s relationship is what really freaked me out. Not for me at all!

I was tempted to just stop and read the epilogue, but I was scared that I would miss the introductions of future characters. So I would just read a chapter, stop and recover, then come back to it. I made it to 64% and couldn't take it anymore. So i ended up skipping to end and there was no epilogue!!!!!! But I read the last part of the last chapter and was so confused because there had been a bunch of new characters introduced. Oh well, I will figure it out if I ever decide to read the next book in the series.

This was a strange one for me! I'm will probably read one more book before deciding whether to end the series.

The fact that the lead characters were a teacher and a student, didn't sit easily with me, but it was the dominant/submissive nature of the relationship that I was most uncomfortable with. It just didn't seem natural, the way Alec's dominance extended beyond the bedroom and how easily Max accepted it. There wasn't enough background or buildup to explain why they would fall into this relationship so quickly.

I don't think it was the response the author was after but this book made me laugh. I felt a desire to giggle every time I read about the 'twitch in his jeans' or when Alec wanted to be the 'Babas' (daddy in Greek) and spoke about himself in the third person, exactly like you would to a toddler. "Be a good baby and get Babas a cup of coffee." It just wasn't believable.

^^THE WORD FATHER TAKES ON A WHOLE NEW MEANING!^^

More of my reviews and thoughts on my blog PANTS OFF REVIEWS

Side-Lined (campus cravings book 2) was… it just was. I have these odd moments when I find things extremely hilarious that I don’t think was intended to be, and this book was one of them. I was just cracking up, and even through all its absurdity, I freaking loved it. The story moved quite well, and was entertaining, but what can I say I am bias cus nothing better than student and professor hooking up. That alone is worth 4 stars.

So Max had lover who died in a car crash in the car he was driving. Nick was his first love and losing him was a huge blow and moving on is very hard. Max has just been walking like zombie for the past two years, but that seems to change when he thinks of his professor; Alec Demakis. His body awakens and for the first time in years, he actually wants someone.

Well the story takes a turn, with the beginning of Alec and Max’s relationship. It’s all about the Dom/Sub but it’s quite tame. Their feelings develop quite quickly but it sort of works since both have been aware of each other for a long time. My only piss off moment was finding about that Nick that Max loved so much; his best friend of childhood who developed into his lover was a real DOUCHEBAG!

I don’t like to speak ill of the dead (I do anyways) but I wish that he didn’t die but remained alive so he could get the ass kicking he so rightly deserved. Fucking screwing around on Max and then moping. You should have just been honest and told him you wanted to be dominated and two subs together just does not make for a mind blasting relationship. Also Alec, you douche you should have also said something if you cared for him for so long. Left him a note, sent him an email all that shit would have worked.

Overall a short and fun story, about Max and his *Babas*, to know what that means you have to check the story out. The right amount of smut with a little story, perfect for an afternoon read.

I said this in my last review: Carol Lynne goes better every book I read. The first enstalment on the Campus Cravings series was enjoyable but not impressive. A good story, fast and simple, no much drama.

In this second enstalment, Max, Luc's son (Luc and Justin were the main characters of the first enstalment), is still grieving for the loss of Nick, his first and only lover till now. Nick is dead in a car accident and Max was behind the wheel. Doesn't matter that was not his fault. And doesn't matter that his relationship with Nick was not the same after two years. When he lose his lover, Max lose also the wish of life.

But something is changing in his life, he is dreaming of a commanding man, a man who has a clear face: his Greek history professor, Alec. And Alec is observing Max and he is only waiting for Max to stop mourning his lost lover. But Alec his not a common man, he likes to be a real Dom in his private life, he likes to be calling Babas (father) and to call his lover little man. He likes to take care and protect his man, he has also tattoed "protector" above his... penis! And he is jelaous like hell. But really his dominant behaviour only result in being a lot possessive and commanding during love and to take decision on Max's life, and Max discovers he like to be commanded by Alec. So everything all right, apart Justin, Max's adoptive father, and the slight age's difference betwen Max and Alec... Alec has more or less the same age of Max's father, Luc.

In this novel I read a little more character's investigation than the other novels and also the story seems to me better planned and developed. And it gives also a good anticipation for the next coming soon enstalment.

2.5 stars I definitely liked this better than the first, Coach, although still not great. I liked the way Max and Alec converse better, I still find Luc and Justin's way of talking to be overly cheesy and unrealistic. But Max and Alec still say stuff I would never say (ie: Max getting up from talking to the new qb he just met and saying "I'm getting the evil glare from the Neanderthal on the patio. Good thing I love him to piece.") Don't get me wrong, I love my husband, but I don't go around gushing about it to random strangers and I've always found it odd and awkward when characters do that.

So now to the big White Elephant in this book. Babas. I've read a few other books with Daddy kink or 24/7 relationship and it's not really my thing but doesn't bother me too much. But in those books the younger guy usually talks about his need for this type of relationship too, prior to it happening. Granted, by the end it seemed to work for Max. But it bothered me a little that Alec just laid down the law of how he wanted things, and Max went with it. And I just don't think he explained it well.

By the end, their relationship ended up being one of strong D/s with a little Daddy kink but Max still had cute little rebellions he's get spanked for, etc, but it was really fine and not that a-typical. But the way Alec initially described it as "we won't be equals" really bothered me. Just because he the Dominant doesn't mean they're not equal. So yeah, I didn't like that. And a main problem with Daddy kink, is when they talk about themselves in the third person. UHG! "Babas likes that." "Come to your Babas." "Your Babas loves you." Just sounds silly.

Also, the big climax was stupid because if Alec didn't treat Max like a child then it wouldn't even have been an issue So since the whole set-up was stupid, the scene didn't effect me emotionally like it was supposed to. And no one even mentioned ?!?

They set up Julian's story well, and I'm glad I already have the third one. Hopefully these will steadily get better. If you're looking for something similar to this, Bound and Determined is also about an undergrad who gets with a Dominant professor (minus the Daddy kink) and I thought it was pretty good.

If you're interested in this series it's cheaper to get Campus Cravings Vol. 1: On the field for books 1-3.

Max Henley is the son of Luc Henley and Justin from the first book. Max's close friend in high school, Nick was his secret boyfriend for two years in HS and roommate and boyfriend in college. This book begins two years after a car accident kills Nick. This book was longer with better development than the first book. There is a slight age difference between the two MCs Max and his professor Alec Demakis, but they don't make a big deal out of it so it's not very noticeable. While this book isn't insta-love, in that Max has been one of Alec's students for awhile, when the two MCs do get together, everything moves at an absurdly rapid pace. I liked Max in the last book, so I liked reading his story. While D/s relationships aren't my thing, this is very light BDSM with an obvious dominant partner, but no real physical domination. There is a lot of mental domination, however, such as Alec being really strict about Max's schedule and Max rushing home to make sure dinner is on the table. I didn't really care for that aspect of their relationship. They didn't seem on the same level at all. Not one of my favorite books of the series.

I was really anxious to start this as I liked Max in the first book in this series. It was heartbreaking to some degree - but thankfully not too heavily focused on. I did think what was revealed about Nick felt a bit like a cop out - and that's all I'll say about that.

Consistency issues hit this one. For example in the first part of a scene the person is in one position but the later reflection puts him in a different one completely. It would be one or the other.

The D/s is TPE here although it is so sweet some might not feel it. Very little S&M just a very light spanking so if you like straight up D/s this is a good choice. I wasn't as fond of the babas as a word - but that may be because it is not in a language I speak. I did feel that Alec felt like Daddy Kink could be there with the amount (TOTAL!) of control he wanted over Max.

Review of the series...

I really don't know why I do this to myself...I've read Carol Lynne before and I'm always disappointed with her books...she takes a really good premise with interesting characters and delivers the reader a shallow, two-dimensional version of what could be a great book with more words and effort...they aren't my thing at all...so, because it was my fault for buying this drivel, I've tried to award stars based on the quality of the book. This book is okay. It is formulaic, unrealistic, too-saccharine, fluff...if that's what you're looking for, then go for it...if you like the premise but want a story with slightly more meat on it's bones, try the Men of Holsum College series by Daisy Harris

I normally love D/s stories with a hint of bdsm in them but something about this story just didn't sit right with me. I enjoyed the angst of Max finding out about Nick, but I guess I didnt like how lightning fast the relationship started and how Max didn't really have a choice even if he would have chosen to stay anyway.

I don't know what it was about this book but it won't stop me from reading the next book in the series! I guess maybe I didn't like the whole daddy/baby aspect of it... I'm not sure.

I enjoyed the fact that this story was about Max as well as seeing his two Dads again (Justin and Luc). What didn’t quite work for me was the relationship between Max and Alec. It felt too rushed. I think it was literally within the space of a couple days that Max went from mourning Nick and being vanilla in terms of sex, to suddenly being in love and an experienced submissive. Add to that the fact that Alec’s form of D/s came with a Greek Daddy kink, and I never quite warmed up to them. Good, but not great for me. Still looking forward to more of the series…

This book was terrible - badly written, unlikeable Main Character. Alex was a nightmare, and it is highly unethical to go from teacher to lover of your student in the matter of hours. His nickname for max (little man!!!) was atrocious. Really??????????? I could not believe I finished this book, because I was tempted to DNF so many times, but I persevered to the last page. And no, the book did not redeemed itself. It was bad to the end.

This book was bad. Insta-love is bad all the time but in this case it is even worse because of the situation. They moved way too quickly in the relationship and it was so completely unbelievable that it worked out the way it did. The whole Nick thing was just completely forgotten about even though lots of stuff happened to do with it through out the story and it was so instantaneous that it just wasn't believable. Also Alec even brought up in the story that he didn't want to move too quickly because Max was still hurt and grieving but then just completely forgot about that because he wanted Max too much to care about his well being. D/s books aren't my favourite genre but when they are done well they are great and this one was just awful. The best part of this book was Justin ad his reaction to the relationship was the same as mine except i would have been worse. Overall 2/10

This review really applies to the first 7 books of this series - Coach, Side-Lined, Sacking the Quarterback, Off-Season, Forbidden Freshman, Broken Pottery, and In Bear's Bed I am together because really, they are one story broken into multiple novellas (even more so than any other such series I have encountered anyway). It is the story of a group of gay friends at a conservative university in Idaho. Many of the friends are Athletes or former athletes and their friends and relations. Some of the relationships are of the barely legal variety and questionable pairings (trainer and incoming freshman quarterback for example). It isn't the most well written set of stories, but the messages are good. The plots are a bit contrived, but you love the characters anyway. nothing too outrageous house wise. I gave most of them 3*, Broken Pottery got 4*. The others would have gotten higher ratings, but the amount of time spent setting up the other books annoyed me a bit. Such as taking pages to introduce characters that lend nothing to the story except that you know they will be one of the MCs in an upcoming volume...

I loved that the first lines were the same as in CC1 ^.^ I also liked that we got to know more about Luc&Justin.
I really liked Max and I adored Alec and I thought that his their relationship was well-written and solid. I liked it a lot more in the second half of the book, though
Two things that bothered me:
firstly, in the hospital, Alec and his family talked in english, not greek.
And secondly, Max's age wasn't specified until in the end of the book, (not being age-ist, just wanted to know how to imagine him) I don't live in America so I don't know how old people are when they finish their bachelor's. I ended up having to google it and guess from there. :/
Usually, when a boyfriend dies in books, authors tend to make it turn out that the boyfriend was cheating, was a scumbag or that the relationship was falling apart anyways. I generally don't like it when authors do that, it seems like the easy way out. Regardless, I didn't really mind it in this book, mostly on account that the reason (both subs) wasn't typical.
All in all: very steamy, an okay, plot, great relationship, good characters.
3.4 stars

Note: This is the third BDSM book I actually enjoy/like, so I definitely reccommend it. Just a little warning though, the D/s relationship is sprung on Max early on
Edit: I just want to add that the plot isn't very deep, it's mostly just about the characters and their stuggles
Another Note: also, I didn't like the cover.

Big Surprise

Following the scintillating first book (well, short novella) in this series, it did not surprise me that this one allowed us to see that Luc's son, Max, a football player, was also gay and attending the same college where Luc's lover, Justin is a football coach. But there were several major surprises after that, including what everyone who reads blurbs knows--Max's best childhood friend, Nick, became his lover in college, but died in a tragic car accident leaving Max a shell of himself.

That shell starts to chip away slowly, all against Max's inclinations, but it really cracks when his ancient mythology professor, Alec Demakis, his secret crush asks him to take a summer job in his office. A big, hunky, apparent sex machine, Alec has also had a secret crush on the smaller, but athletic, former running back star of the college team. While not unusual, their first close contact "professionally" leads to an explosive series of sexual couplings that turn both of their worlds completely upside down.

This one is much longer than its predecessor, "Coach," and far more detailed in virtually every respect--smooth writing, excellent and completely unexpected, plot turns. I went right out and got the next one in the series, "Sacking the Quarterback," and can't wait to read it. (Caveat: This one appears to be the only one of the series unavailable on Amazon, though one hopes this will be corrected in time).
