Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, and Kelley Armstrong are all urban fantasy.
Diana Gabaldon is historical fiction.
Anne Rice is horror, I believe.
But none of the above series qualify as a romance novel. There is no happily ever after at the end of each book.
And there are multiple books by Sherrilyn Kenyon listed, none of which are the first book in the series.

Take for example, City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare is urban fantasy, there is just a bit of romance in it, but the book is not really about that.

Lara Adrian and the Midnight Breed series are my favorite!! Awaiting anxiously for Kade's book next month.
I've also read Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series and enjoyed it very much.
Currently, I'm reading Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole. So far so good!

If you like paranormalromance but no Twilight, then lokup my list- YA PArnormal Romance ThatIs Not Twilight

Which one
My answer : Bella+Jacob
Reason: I don't know. I just think they are better together......

Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, Patri..."
technically fantasy lover was the first in the series yet she developed the plot and characters more throughly in the next book and those to follow.

In that order often times...

I deleted all sequels and so on from the list, which went from 6 pages to 3.
I'm not a good judge on what is UF and what PNR, and I think it often shifts during the series, so I didn't delete on content.
Hope the list is more useful now, and that people will vote with the rules in mind.
twilight is top book i want to read all these

I didn't know there had to be a happily ever after to qualify for the romance genre. No wonder I don't read much of it......how boring as its so predictable! Its a wonder there is a series if that is the case. Who wants to read the same thing over and over again? hmmm, guess I do as I love Twilight.

LOVE THIS SERIES JUST FINISHED THE THIRD BOOK AND I MUST SAY SHE (THE AUTHOR) GOES OUT WITH A BANG

OOO YEAH! CAN I GET AN AMEN!!!?

OOO YEAH! CAN I GET AN AMEN!!!?"
AMEN!!! :))))))))))

My top 5 are:
1. Black Dagger Brotherhood ... my fav books were Zsadist, Wrath, Rhage, Butch and Rehv's
2. Night Huntress... Bones. 'nuff said.
3. Dark-Hunter (and Dream-Hunter/Were-Hunter included) ... my favs are Acheron, Jericho, Fang, Zarek, Kyrian, Sin... oh boy, I'm not really narrowing this down lol
4. Fever Series (although they are completed and maybe not exactly your typical romance, but with a male lead like Barrons I feel it has to be in this category)
5. Twilight... i know, i know... and i realize its YA but it was the first paranormal book i read and got me started into the genre and for that i love it
looking forward to
Midnight Breed
Lords of the Underworld
Demonica
Argeneau Vampires
Otherkin
Immortals after Dark
among many others :))

ETA: Although, I do appreciate readers adding my books, most of the ones they added are stand alones / first in the series with only 1 book in it so far. The only one of my qualifying according to the rules is Prophecy: Child of Light (Vampires Realm, #1) - I like to play by the rules.
