I haven't read either yet but from what I've heard I think Jane Eyre would be a better starting place.

Jane Eyre was the first big classic I read and I thought it was amazing

Jane Eyre is one of my FAVORITES. BUT for the best reading experience, read it right after you read a fluffy, light, happy book (like Pride and Prejudice). Trust me.
