I wouldn't describe it as cosy, because grief and loss are the main themes, but it does feel healing in the way it deals with those themes. This was a quick, but very touching read, that I think will stay with me....more

Vera's humour gave me Lorelai Gilmore vibes, and it made for a really entertaining romcom....more
A good introduction to intersectional feminism, this essay collection discusses a large amount of social issues and what makes them feminist. Mikki KeA good introduction to intersectional feminism, this essay collection discusses a large amount of social issues and what makes them feminist. Mikki Kendall writes mostly from her own perspective and that of the Black Americans around her, which is very fitting and important, since this perspective is one that has been historically glossed over by white feminism. However, that also makes this collection strongly US-centric, and it doesn't always translate well to an international context. Of course that's very understandable, but I would have appreciated some acknowledgement of that. Kendall regularly uses examples from public debate, but if you aren't already aware of these debates (and there's a good chance you won't be, since they're highly specific), these examples tend to be unclear and lacking in context, meaning they don't support her statements as clearly as they would have with a little more explanation. All in all, this essay collection makes a lot of excellent points and shares a lot of valuable insights, but the execution wasn't always as strong as it could have been....more

It started off strongly, and then it had some interesting twists that kept me engaged throughout. But I think this book would have been a lot better had it been more nuanced. Almost every single man in this book was cartoonishly evil, and of course Scarlett is an unreliable narrator and she has her own biases, but I feel like this could have been portrayed in a little more detail. I feel like this book lacked the nuance and subtlety to be an actually good insight in Scarlett's psychology....more

I was quickly swayed by the cosy fantasy description and the adorable cover of this originally French book. This cosy mystery set in a whimsical world is perfect for everyone who loves literature, books and language. Its inventive setting made for a really fun reading experience, especially with all the linguistic references, which were often really funny. I would have liked a little more character depth for me to really love it, but I definitely did enjoy this....more

I loved Liya, I loved the romance, and I especially loved how the romance influenced Liya's character arc. She learns to depend on someone else, so she doesn't have to do everything herself anymore. This felt really empowering and like an important life lesson....more

Ultimately, this book is too far out of my comfort zone, because of the genre, for me to actually love it. Still, I did find it engaging, and while I didn't like the main character as a person, I did think she was interesting to read about....more

Fake dating is really my fave right now and the trope was so well done here - feelings slowly but steadily creep in. I also loved how this wasn't just an (adorable!) romance, it was also a story about the relationship between Pinky and her mother, who seem like they are opposites, but maybe they have more in common than it seems.
Read this for: ☆ Punk heroine with piercings and multi-coloured hair who cares a lot about a lot of things ☆ Very steady and organized love interest who will steal your heart with how earnest he is ☆ Opposites attract, enemies to lovers, fake dating ☆ Cousin who feels more like a sister, no girl on girl hate to be found here ☆ Rescued opossum who likes to play dead ☆ Butterfly sanctuary (I'm actually terrified of butterflies but as long as they stay fictional, it's cute) ☆ All the summer vibes
