There was once an innocent naughty boy, whose evil uncle-priest made him do all the temple’s chores. The boy was miserable, and all alone in the world. Until, one day, he found his best friend and hope— in a slug!
Well this was fun, in a way. I’m giving myself a solid 3 stars for the story, rounded up to 4 for that special scene and that 3-word line that I LOVE and made it all SO worth it. I’m not going to spoil it, anyone who reads it will probably guess what I’m talking about.
This is so weird reviewing myself. Anyway, it’s a very quick and direct shortie; dark, humorous, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and very very poignant, I think. 16 pages short and packing a punch. Oh and apparently, or so they tell me, it’s also plagued with symbolism, allegories, metaphors and god knows what, and don't look at me I don’t have the faintest idea how any of that stuff got in there because I don’t even know what that means. I just wanted to write a story about a boy and his slug and somehow I may have accidentally landed something deep. Go figure.
Anyway. It’s free! So the link is right there below, if you wish to risk it. It’s also available for free on Kindle Unlimited and will be on Wattpadd as soon as I’m finished uploading it. But please, I don’t want your money, least of all from my GR friends. I’m not looking to make a living out of writing, and if it’s 0.99 listed on Amazon it’s only because it didn’t allow me to put 0.
Also, not proud to admit but, I didn’t always get my books the right way; so this is kind of my way of giving something back to the world and atone for it. If you feel indebted or whatever you can spread the word and if ever decide to get off my lazy ass to finish something else again I may capitalize on that. It’s not like a have e shortage of ideas, I have like 30-40 drafts in various degrees of unfinishedness, just sitting there gathering digital dust. Me loves procrastinating.

Había una vez un niño inocente y travieso, cuyo malvado tío sacerdote le obligaba a hacer todas las tareas del templo. El niño se sentía miserable y completamente solo en el mundo. Hasta que, un día, encontró a su mejor amigo y esperanza... ¡en una babosa!
Bueno, esto fue interesante, en cierto modo. Me doy 3 sólidas estrellas por la historia, redondeadas a 4 por esa escena especial y esa línea de 3 palabras que AMO y que hizo que TODO valiera la pena. No voy a espoilearlo, cualquiera que lo lea probablemente adivinará de qué estoy hablando.
Es tan extraño reseñarme a mí mismo. Lo que sea, es un corto muy rápido y directo; sombrío, gracioso, conmovedor, desgarrador y muy, muy emocional, creo. 16 páginas cortas y con buen impacto. Ah y aparentemente, o eso me dicen, también está plagado de simbolismo, alegorías, metáforas y Dios sabe qué más, y no me miren no tengo la más puta idea de cómo llegó todo eso ahí adentro porque ni siquiera sé lo que eso significa. Yo sólo quería escribir una historia sobre un niño y su babosa y de alguna manera pude haber conseguido accidentalmente algo profundo. Andá a enteder.
Lo que sea ¡Es gratis! Por lo que el enlace está ahí abajo, si quieren arriesgarse. También gratuito en Kindle Unlimited y disponible en Wattpadd, ni bien termine de subirlo. Pero por favor, no quiero dinero y menos de mis amigos de GR. No busco ganarme la vida escribiendo, y si en Amazon aparece precio de 0.99 es porque no me dejó poner 0.
Además, no me enorgullece admitirlo pero no siempre conseguí mis libros de la manera correcta, así que esto es en cierta forma mi manera de devolver algo al mundo y expiar. Si se sienten endeudados o lo que sea, hagan correr la voz y si alguna vez decido levantar mi perezoso trasero para terminar algo nuevamente, puedo capitalizar eso en algún futuro. No es como si me faltaran ideas, tengo entre 30 y 40 borradores en diversos grados de incompletitud, simplemente ahí tirados acumulando polvo digital. Me encanta procrastinar.

Many of my issues may probably be explained because I started with #19 rather than #1. This is what happens when you read a Reader's Digest used book and they have thrown in an installment in the middle of the series rather than a standalone writing. Anywho.
A staggering amount of characters, not all easily discernible. Almost every single character in town owns a cat. Dogs must have gone extinct in this universe. Utterly predictable, you can see the bad coming nearly from the start. SO obvious! I could replace the cats for rats or monkeys and it could possibly work out just the same. Koko seems to be more perceptive and intelligent than the so called 'detective'. I usually love animal related stories but didn't love this one. There's a lot more but my memory is already failing me. And since I finished this a few minutes ago I guess it's also forgettable.
Sigh. I'm too lazy to continue. RTC.

Esto apenas estuvo bien. Tengo tantas quejas con esta historia que necesito escribir una lista o algo. Suspiro.
Muchos de mis problemas probablemente puedan explicarse porque comencé con #19 en lugar de #1. Esto es lo que pasa cuando lees un libro usado de Reader's Digest y agregan una entrega a mitad de una serie en lugar de escritos independientes. Lo que sea.
Una perturbadora cantidad de personajes, no todos fácilmente discernibles. Casi todos los personajes de la ciudad tienen un gato. Los perros deben haberse extinguido en este universo. Totalmente predecible, podés ver el malo viniendo casi desde el principio. TAN obvio! Podría reemplazar los gatos por ratas o monos y posiblemente podría funcionar igual. Koko parece ser más perceptivo e inteligente que el supuesto 'detective'. Normalmente me encantan las historias relacionadas con animales, pero esta no me encantó. Hay muchas cosas más pero ya me falla la memoria. Y como terminé esto hace unos minutos, supongo que también es olvidable.

A happily married couple loves all animals and has had many pets throughout their marriage, the latest being an adopted lovely black cat, Pluto. But over the years the owner becomes increasingly volatile, and the cat has a temper of its own.
As a lover of all things animals, and especially of dogs and cats, I must say this little shortie hit a sensitive spot. So if you are one too, you might consider it a TW.
Still, by all accounts, widely regarded as one of the finest stories Poe has ever written, and since it’s my personal second favorite of the man, I guess we can agree on that one. But man, you just don't mess with cats!
Recommendable; and for meager twenty something pages, just meow be worth checking out.
Una pareja felizmente casada ama todos los animales y ha tenido muchas mascotas a lo largo de su matrimonio, la última siendo un hermoso adoptado gato negro, Pluto. Pero con el paso de los años el dueño se vuelve cada vez más volátil, y el gato tiene su temperamento propio.
Como amante de todo lo animal, y especialmente de perros y gatos, debo decir que este pequeño cuentito tocó una parte sensible. Así que, si vos también lo sos, tal vez deberías considerarlo como una advertencia.
Aún así, a todas cuentas, ampliamente considerado como uno de los mejores cuentos cortos que Poe haya escrito jamás, y dado que es mi segundo favorito personal del señor, supongo que estamos de acuerdo en eso. Pero hombre, uno no se mete con los gatos!
Recomendable; y por escasas veintitantas páginas, puede que valga miaucho echarle un vistazo.

Bella is a good dog. After being rescued from a den, she grows inexplicably attached to Lucas. Having a dog isn't easy, and after teaching her to hide and not to bark, she nevertheless gets noticed in the apartments she's not allowed to live in. Barely escaping Animal Control and nearly put down because of her forbidden pit bull status in Denver, and after some other incidents too, Bella becomes lost. Finding herself separated from her beloved Lucas, nearly four hundred miles away, Bella begins a fantastic journey, through city and wilderness, to reach him. Making friends along the way, human and not, Bella is determined to find her way back to Lucas no matter what.
A fairly enjoyable read. I specially enjoyed the bond between Bella and Big Kitten. For some reason I had this one on audio and the voices really didn't do it for me, so if you happen to want to read this I would suggest text. That doesn't mean I recommend it though, I loved the Purpose series books but I did not love this one. It's somewhat different, you get the Dogs POV like the others but not the multiple lives and Bailey is not in it. Bella is a wonderful doggie, she's a fantastic, but did not really grow on me like Bailey did. Still, a worthy read for the animal lover, heartwarming and moving at times.
*** The movie is a decent adaptation of the book. Some things were omitted, as to be expected, but still all the main ingredients were there. The special effects were good, the acting not so much, pretty flat. Bella and Big Kitten were the best part, obviously.

Tener un perro no es fácil, y después de enseñarle a esconderse y no ladrar, aún así es descubierta en los apartamentos donde no le está permitido vivir. Apenas escapando Control Animal y casi puesta a dormir por ser de de una raza prohibida pit bull en Denver, y después de otros incidentes también, Bella termina perdida. Encontrándose separada de su amado Lucas, a casi cuatrocientas millas lejos, Bella empieza un viaje fantástico, a través de ciudad y tierra salvaje, para alcanzarlo. Haciéndose de amigos en el camino, humanos y no, Bella está determinada a encontrar su camino de vuelta hacia Lucas, sin importar qué.
Una lectura bastante disfrutable. Disfruté especialmente la amistad de Bella y Gran Gatito. Por alguna razón tenía esto en audio y las voces realmente no funcionaron conmigo, así que si se encuentran queriendo leer esto sugeriría texto. Eso sin embargo no significa que lo recomendaría, amé los libros de la serie Purpose pero no amé éste. Es algo diferente, tenés el punto de vista del perro como los otros pero no las multiples vidas y Bailey no está ahí. Bella es una perrita maravillosa, es fantástica, pero no creció en mí como lo hizo Bailey. Igual, una lectura valiosa para el amante del animal. amorosa y emotiva de a ratos.
*** La película es una adaptación decente del libro. Algunas cosas fueron omitidas, como es de esperarse, pero aún así todos los ingredientes principales estaban ahí. Los efectos especiales estuvieron bien, la actuación no tanto, algo floja. Bella y Gran Gatito fueron la mejor parte, ovbiamente.

Starting from service dog, to regular dog, and many lives between, Bailey is determined to fulfill Ethan’s promise and help Burke and Grant patch things up, no matter how many lives it takes.
Before I started this book I was thinking. It all closed so beautifully in book #2, why ruin such a perfectly good ending? And after finishing this I was thinking. Man I was right! But don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great book, anyone who reads it is surely to enjoy it. Bailey is as lovable as always, and through its many lives and reincarnations we get to love him each time more. I specially loved seeing Bailey and Lacey back together again, and how their relationship unfolded for them. Just beautiful.
Still, I must say even though all the main ingredients were there, I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as the first two. So be warned. And there’s a sort of cliffhanger for a book #4, so of course, I’m sure to read that too. A fifth book? Hand it in. I never really learned when to quit.

Bailey volvió! Por pedido de Ethan, nuestro leal y querido Bailey regresa del cielo de los perros para ayudar y mediar entre dos hermanos peleados, los nietos de Ethan. Empezando como perro de servicio, a perro normal, y muchas vidas entre ellas, Bailey está determinado en cumplir su promesa a Ethan y ayudar a Burke y Grant a arreglar las cosas, sin importar cuántas vidas le tome.
Antes de empezar el libro pensaba. Cerró tan hermosamente todo en el libro #2, por qué arruinar un final tan perfecto? Y después de leer esto pensaba. Pucha tenía razón! Pero que no se malentienda, es un muy buen libro, cualquiera que lo lea seguramente lo va a disfrutar. Bailey es tan adorable como siempre, y a través de sus muchas vidas y reencarnaciones uno lo va queriendo cada vez más. Amé especialmente ver a Bailey y Lacey de nuevo juntos, y como su relación floreció para ellos. Simplemente hermoso.
Aún así, debo admitir que aunque todos los ingredientes principales estaban ahí, no lo disfruté tanto como los primeros dos. Así que advertidos. Bruce Cameron delivers an extremely powerful sequel in this lovely doggish series. In the first book we learn the story of Bailey and his infinite loyalty towards Ethan, through his multiple lives. In this excellent addition to the series we learn the story of Molly and her undying love for Clarity, Ethan's niece.
A dog's love is something precious and that is the part that I loved. But this fucking book hits you from all angles and so many times that I also grew to hate it. It burned me so much that many times I just had to drop it and gather all possible strength to read it at a later time. It's that messed up, but not because of that, less valuable.
A highly memorable read. A favorite place well earned. A book specially recommendable for the dog lover. Innumerable moments to remember. Indescribably beautiful, insufferably painful. After reading it you cannot but love even more your doggy companion. But I have to strongly warn beforehand that it has many, maaany extremely painful moments. Empathy is a beautiful and wicked gift. It can bring you as much happiness as can pain. And there's a very specific pain, when you feel that something happens to an animal.
**** The movie is a nice adaptation of the book. Many serious deviations from the main plot, some good, some not. Luckily, the many changes on the plot made the whole thing much less painful than it originally was, so it's is a much friendler version than the book. Easier to watch, easier to love.

En el primer libro conocemos la genial historia de Bailey y su infinita lealtad hacia Ethan, a través de sus múltiples vidas. En esta excelente adición a la saga conocemos la historia de Molly y su inmortal amor por Clarity, la nieta de Ethan.
El amor de un perro es algo hermoso y esa es la parte que amé. Pero este maldito libro te pega por todos lados y tantas veces que también llegamos a odiarlo. Me quemó tanto que varias veces tuve que soltarlo y juntar toda fuerza posible para poder continuarlo más tarde. Es así de jodido, pero no por eso, menos valioso.
Una lectura altamente memorable. Un lugar de favorito bien ganado. Un libro especialmente recomendable para el canino-aficionado. Innumerables momentos para el recuerdo. Indescriptiblemente hermoso, insufriblemente doloroso. Después de leerlo no podés mas que adorar más a tu compañero perruno. Pero no puedo dejar de advertir de antemano que tiene muchos, muuuchos golpes bajoneros. La empatía es un hermoso y perverso don. Puede traerte tanta felicidad como dolor. Y hay una especie de dolor muy específico, cuando sentís que le pasa algo a un animal.
**** La película es una linda adaptación del libro. Muchas serias desviaciones de la trama principal, algunas buenas, algunas no. Afortunadamente, los muchos cambios hechos en la trama hicieron toda la cosa mucho más potable que su original, así que termina siendo una versión mucho más amigable que el libro. Más fácil de ver, más fácil de amar.

Funny. Endearing. Extremely moving. Highly recommendable for the animal lover, and specially more to those inclined for the canine type. This novel really makes you feel partly dog and experience the world through its eyes.
**** The movie is a really good adaptation. Some deviations and omissions, as to be expected, but still a wonderful experience almost as enjoyable as the book, if not even more.

En esta novela conocemos la historia de "Bailey", un perruno muy particular. A través de varias de sus diversas reencarnaciones, desde un perro salvaje hasta doméstico, un muy confundido y aventurero Bailey se lanzará en una búsqueda existencial, tratando de encontrarle un sentido a sus múltiples vidas, y su naturaleza perruna. Bailey es un buen perro, y cuando encuentra a un Ethan de ocho años, todo parece caer en su lugar; pero la vida de un perro es frágil, y Ethan corre peligro...
Divertida. Adorable. Extremadamente conmovedora. Altamente recomendable para el amante de los animales, y especialmente más para aquellos inclinados por el tipo canino. Esta novela realmente te hace sentir parte perro y experimentar el mundo a través de sus ojos.
**** La película es una muy buena adaptación. Ciertas desviaciones y varias omisiones, como es de esperarse, pero igualmente una genial experiencia casi tan disfrutable como el libro, sino es que más.

Ten years old India Opal and her father the Preacher move to small town Naomi to start anew. Opal left all her friends behind and is all alone in the world, that is, until one day doing her groceries she stumbles upon an ugly stray dog nearly taken to the pound. This is the story of Winn-Dixie, and every wonderful thing that happened that joyous summer because of him.
This is one of the best children’s novel I’ve ever read, and the best dog related one for sure. A beautifully heartwarming story, extremely touching, and memorable. It made me smile from the first chapter to the last, with some genuine laughter along the way, and its share of tears as well. Just like a Littmus Lozenge, although mostly innocently sweet. Also some very difficult topics addressed in a very meaningful way.
I LOVED Winn-Dixie, Opal, the Preacher, Gloria Dump, Miss Franny, Otis and Sweetie Pie; and even the Dewberry Brothers and Amanda Wilkinson a little. A plethora of quotes and moments to remember by. Some very powerful scenes, and some valuable life lessons. A novel every kid should read, and love. Truly deserving of all the awards and praising it receives, and not wrongly regarded as one of the best children’s novel ever written. A solid new favorite. Highly recommendable.
*** Because of Winn-Dixie (2005) is a very good adaptation, with some minor changes made to the plot, and a bit awkward, but overall very faithful to the book. Jeff Daniels was the best of the movie by far, exceptionally touching performance. AnnaSophia Robb plays a slightly awkward but very lovable Opal. Saint, Tyson and Matthews also deserving praising as well. Very easy to watch, very easy to love, although maybe too sweet. Some chuckles here and there, and two very powerful scenes (view spoiler)[ the pound and the “I tried” scene (hide spoiler)] that made me tear, not something easily done with me. Not the best movie by a longshot, but undoubtedly a great complement to the reading.

India Opal de diez años y su padre el Predicador se mudan a un pequeño pueblo llamado Naomi para empezar de nuevo. Opal dejó todos sus amigos atrás y está sola en el mundo, esto es, hasta que un día haciendo las compras cruza camino con un feo perro callejero que casi es llevado a la perrera. Esta es la historia de Winn-Dixie, y todas las cosas maravillosas que sucedieron ese inolvidable verano por culpa de él.
Esta es una de las mejores novelas para niños que leí jamás, y la mejor relacionada con perros por seguro. Una hermosamente cálida historia, extremadamente conmovedora, y memorable. Me hizo sonreír desde el primer capítulo hasta el último, con algunas genuinas risas durante el camino, y su cuota de lágrimas también. Justo como un Littmus Lozenge, aunque mayormente inocentemente dulce. Algunos difíciles tópicos abordados también de una forma muy significativa.
AME a Winn-Dixie, Opal, el Predicador, Gloria Dump, Srta Franny, Otis y Sweetie Pie; e incluso a los hermanos Dewberry y Amanda Wilkinson un poquito. Un sinfín de citas y momentos para el recuerdo. Algunas muy poderosas escenas, y algunas valiosas enseñanzas de vida. Una novela que todo niño debería leer, y amar. Verdaderamente merecedora de todas las alabanzas y galardones que recibe, y no erróneamente considerada una de las mejores novelas para niños jamás escritas. Un sólido nuevo favorito. Altamente recomendable.
*** El Perro Sonriente (2005) es una muy buena adaptación, con algunos mejores cambios hechos en la trama, y un poco rara, pero dentro de todo muy fiel al libro. Jeff Daniels fue lo mejor de la película por lejos, una actuación excepcionalmente conmovedora. AnnaSophia Robb hace una algo rara pero muy adorable Opal. Opal. Saint, Tyson y Matthews mereciendo un poco de alabanza también. Muy fácil de ver, muy fácil de amar, aunque tal vez demasiado dulce. Algunas risas aquí y allá, y dos muy poderosas escenas (view spoiler)[ la perrera y la escena de “Traté” (hide spoiler)] que me hicieron lagrimear, algo no tan fácilmente logrado en mí. No es la mejor película ni por asomo, pero sín dudas un gran complemento para la lectura.

Something like a mixture between “Robinson Crusoe” and “The Blue Lagoon”, but different from either. Simply excellent, perfect in every way. Beautifully heartwarming, and exquisitely heart wrenching. Very easy to read. LOVED Karana and her devotion for all the animals in the island. Amazing character development. And with a powerful message about survival and love for nature. Innumerable moments and quotes to remember by. I keep forever within my heart that beautiful friendship and enmity between Karana and Rontu. An unforgettable Middle Grade novel, and one of my most cherished memories in my reader’s life. A timeless classic, and justly lauded. Extremely recommendable.

Innumerables momentos y citas para el recuerdo. Y llevo siempre en el corazón esa hermosa amistad y enemistad entre Karana y Rontu. Una inolvidable novela Grado Medio, y uno de mis más preciados recuerdos de toda mi vida lectora. Un clásico inmortal, y justamente laureado. Extremadamente recomendable.

This was one of the most endearing and emotional things I've ever read in my life. I now carry Wilbur, Charlotte, Fern, and even Templeton within my heart; four lovely souls I don't think I'll ever forget.
This was so close to Perfection, the story, the characters, the delivery, the ending... Everything so emotional, so unforgettable. So many quotes and moments to remember by, so many scenes to love and smile, and even some to cry. The only thing that slightly bothered me is that EB White sometimes seems to make extensive use of cataloging and enumeration, which I dutifully skipped, but other than that, just PERFECT; almost every single page of it. This was certainly some story!
I was so scared of suffering massive heartbreak reading this story, children's stories are so safe and disney nowadays, but it wasn't uncommon for them to take some horrifying nasty turns back in the day; so can't express my overjoyment for being so gravely mistaken. This little book is listed as one of the best Children's books ever written, and for just reasons, so if you ever get the chance, go for it, without a doubt, can't Recommend it enough. A true masterpiece, for all ages!

Esta fue una de las cosas más emotivas y entrañables que he leído jamás en mi vida. Ahora llevo a Wilbur, Charlotte, Fern, e incluso a Templeton en mi corazón; cuatro almas adorables que no creo jamás llegue a olvidar.
Esto estuvo tan cerca de la Perfección, la historia, los personajes, la entrega, el final... Todo tan emocional, tan inolvidable. Tantas citas y momentos para el recuerdo, tantas escenas para sonreir y amar, e incluso algunas para llorar. Lo único que me molestó un poco es que EB White parece hacer a veces un uso extensivo de la catalogación y enumeración, lo cual obedientemente salteé, pero dejando eso de lado, simplemente PERFECTO; casi completamente todas y cada una de sus páginas. Esta ciertamente fue una historia extraordinaria!
Y tenía tanto miedo de sufrir un masivo quiebre del corazón leyendo esta historia, los cuentos para niños suelen ser muy seguros y disney hoy en día, pero no era raro que tomaran ciertos giros horriblemente trágicos allá en su día; así que no puedo expresar mi sobrealegría de haber estado tan gravemente equivocado. Este pequeño libro está catalogado como uno de los mejores libros para niños jamás escritos, y por justas razones, así que si alguna vez tenés la oportunidad de leerlo, adelante, sin dudas; no puedo Recomendarlo lo suficiente. Una verdadera obra maestra, para todas las edades!

Piscine Molitor Patel is a young indian boy travelling with his family aboard a freighter through the Pacific seas, and carrying their precious zoo animals to America for relocation. One stormy night the ship suddenly sinks, and he ends up in a small lifeboat with several of their animals and, among them, a huge Bengal tiger. This is the tale of his extraordinary adventure, and how he managed to survive for months stranded in the middle of the seas with little to no resources, and accompanied by one of the deadliest predators in the world.
This was one lovely and painful emotional ride. Loved the origins of Pi, the zoo teachings, and specially the multi-religious Hindu-Christian-Islam approach. The shipwreck was devastating, and so too a big chunk of the time adrift. Pi an incredible little Crusoe, and Richard Parker a terrifying but necessary companionship; a beautiful yet dangerous bonding, but vital, for both. I remember most of my journey with them filled with great apprehension and distress; sure there were beautiful moments and a love and respect for nature rarely seen in other works, yet most of the time lingered a persistent sadness of uncertainty, and much despair before a sometimes cruel sea that took what little they had and didn’t leave much room for hope. Nevertheless, this was an unforgettable journey so worthy that not once regretted taking.
A fantastic story of survival, courage, spirituality, and love for life and nature. A sublime journey of impossible beauty (view spoiler)[ Meerkats Island (hide spoiler)], with loads moments (view spoiler)[ Hyena & Orange Juice, Parker bonding, flying fish (hide spoiler)] to remember by. *** Life of Pi (2012) is a lovely artistic adaptation, extremely faithful to the book, and an excellent complement to the reading. The scenery beyond beautiful, the acting on point, and the special effects impeccable. The film gorgeously captures the best heartfelt parts of the book, and cuts most of the sadness away from it. As usual the book won, I enjoyed it more, but I think only because I read it first and then the surprise was lost. I LOVE the book for its detail and depth, but ultimately I LOVE the movie more for its beautiful uplifting delivery; and a big part of me wishes I’d watched it first. (8/10)

Este fue un adorable y doloroso viaje emocional. Amé los orígenes de Pi, las enseñanzas del zoológico, y especialmente el enfoque multi-religioso Hindú-Cristiano-Islámico. El naufragio fue devastador, y también una gran parte del tiempo a la deriva. Pi un increíble pequeño Crusoe, y Richard Parker una terrorífica pero necesaria compañía; una hermosa pero peligrosa vinculación, pero vital, para ambos. Recuerdo la mayoría del mi viaje con ellos lleno de gran aprehensión y angustia; obvio que hubo hermosos momentos y un amor y respeto por la naturaleza pocas veces visto en otras obras, pero la mayor parte del tiempo permaneció conmigo una persistente tristeza incierta, y mucha desesperanza ante un a veces cruel océano que tomaba lo poco que tenían sin dejar mucho lugar a esperanza. Sin embargo, este fue un viaje inolvidable tan valioso que ni una vez me arrepentí de tomarlo.
Una fantástica historia de supervivencia, coraje, espiritualidad y amor por la vida y naturaleza. La escenografía más allá de hermosa, la actuación acorde, y los efectos especiales impecables. El filme hermosamente captura las partes más sentidas del libro, y corta la mayoría de su tristeza. Como usualmente sucede el libro ganó, lo disfruté más, pero creo que sólo porque lo leí primero y luego la sorpresa se perdió. AMO el libro por el detalle y su profundidad, pero en última instancia AMO la película más por su hermoso y elevador mensaje a la hora de entregarlo; y gran parte de mí desearía haberla visto primero. In the old Manor Farm, each animal puts their small effort to carry the farm forward; but when one day Mr. Jones farmer continuous abuse and neglect becomes unbearable, all the animals hold a special meeting to set a change. A revolutionary idea is born: Animals will govern themselves. Together they will bring a new age, where all animals are equal. But self-sufficiency and self-government carries heavy burdens, with small and big responsibilities for each animal; and soon small frictions begin to arise in the new haven.
Another all time-classic by the legendary Orwell. No half stars deducted this time. This was a flawless 5-star masterpiece, if not six; because achieving SO much in SO few pages, is beyond reckoning. A timeless allegorical novella so powerful that it’s certain to give you pause, and most likely remember it for the rest of your life. So crucial for the time it was written, and still more than relevant today, and for the future yet to come.
I remember being so wowed at the time I read this, my messed up country bearing so much resemblance to the events depicted in this book. It’s similarity still strong today, and not likely to change anytime soon. It’s a sad truth that some third world countries never managed to grow beyond their petty differences and troubled beginnings.
I SO wanted to know more regarding the future of the farm; but I understand why and how it ended the way it did. Such an unforgettable thought provoking story, with lovable and hateful characters (view spoiler)[ (Snowball, Napoleon) (hide spoiler)], and so heartbreaking. (view spoiler)[ the pain in my soul for Boxer still raw and unhealed. (hide spoiler)] A must read in life. Extremely Recommendable.
*** Animal Farm (1954) is the best adaptation I’ve seen so far, kinda old school by today standards but still an excellent cartoonish representation. Acceptable atmosphere, adequate pacing, and more than reasonably faithful to the book, if not completely. Yet, for some reason I couldn’t nearly enjoy it as much as the book, but can’t exactly pinpoint why; maybe the surprise was lost. A good film, just not great, for me.
*** Animal Farm (1999) is a somewhat controversial adaptation. Acceptable as a whole but far less faithful to the book, especially regarding the ending. A stellar voice casting including stars like Stewart, Louis-Dreyfus and Grammer, among others. The anthropomorphic representation with live animals giving it a certain unique touch the animated film didn’t have.
I think either of the two films is worth watching, the first one for its grim fidelity and the second one for its more upbeat tone. Still, if I had to choose the 1954 version overall seemed better to me, and more memorable.

En la vieja Granja Manor, cada animal pone su pequeño esfuerzo para que la granja salga adelante; pero cuando un día los continuos abusos y descuidos del Sr. Jones se vuelven insoportables, todos los animales arman una reunión especial para crear un cambio. Nace una idea revolucionaria: Los Animales se gobernarán a sí mismos. Juntos darán inicio a una nueva era, donde todos los animales sean iguales. Pero la autosuficiencia y el autogobierno plantea difíciles tareas, con pequeñas y grandes responsabilidades para cada animal; y pronto algunas fisuras empiezan a aparecer en el nuevo reino.
Otro clásico de todos los tiempos por el legendario Orwell. Ninguna media estrella deducida esta vez. Esta fue una impecable obra maestra de 5-estrellas, sino de seis; porque alcanzar TANTO en TAN pocas páginas, es más allá de inimaginable. Una atemporal novela corta alegórica tan poderosa que es certero que te va a producir un quiebre, y más que seguro para recordar por el resto de tu vida. Tan crucial para la época en que fue escrita, y todavía más que relevante para los tiempos actuales, y el futuro todavía por llegar.
Recuerdo haberme maravillado tanto el día que leí esto, mi tan desgraciado país teniendo tremendo parecido con los eventos reflejados en este libro. Su similitud todavía patente el día de hoy, y difícilmente sujeto a cambiar pronto. Es una triste verdad que algunos países del tercer mundo nunca lograron crecer más allá de sus mezquinas diferencias y problemáticos comienzos.
Realmente deseaba TANTO conocer más acerca del futuro de la granja; pero entiendo por qué y cómo terminó como lo hizo. Una historia tan inolvidable y provocadora, con entrañables y odiosos personajes (view spoiler)[ (Bola de Nieve, Napoleón) (hide spoiler)], y tan devastadora. *** Rebelión en la Granja (1954) es la mejor adaptación que vi hasta ahora, un poco antigua para los estándares de hoy pero aun así una excelente representación animada. Atmósfera aceptable, ritmo adecuado, y más que razonablemente fiel al libro, sino completamente. Aun así, por alguna razón no lo pude disfrutar ni de cerca tanto como el libro, pero no podría precisar exactamente por qué; tal vez se perdió la sorpresa. Un buen filme, sólo que no genial, para mí.
