Loved getting wrapped up in the world of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall. Fast forward twenty years later after the last book, and Claire decides to go back through the stones to find her long lost love.

In the beginning I fell right in and never wanted it to end. However, this was the first book in the series where I began to feel it was all a little much. Over the top- constantly falling into situation after situation that all felt a little too convenient. I also (for the first time) felt that this book was too long. Too many pages spent on details that made me lose interest. Thinking I need to take an Outlander break before starting the next one.

Angela M Britany , I felt the same way . I loved the first book , mostly loved the second and couldn't quite get into this one so I put it aside . I may get back to it .

Cathrine ☯️ Truth be told they were all like that for me with the exception of one. The honeymoon is definitely over after the first 2 but the parts that are really good make it worth it if you take enough breaks. At some points I wanted to hurl them out the window. DG doesn't seem to understand that we have other books to read!

Britany Wow- Ok good... I almost felt guilty rating this book less than 4 stars, but honestly I had to force my way through! Both of you are making me feel SO much better- glad it's not just me!

Phrynne And the books get longer and longer as you work your way through them. She is one of those writers who needs an editor with a big red pen. However I got hooked on the characters and just had to keep reading:)

MichelleG Oh gosh, I thought it was just me! I'm so glad I'm not alone. There seems to be universal love for these books but while I loved the first book, liked most of the second I really struggled with the third... In fact it's been sitting in the "to be finished" pile for so long I'll probably have to start again. It's just so much, one thing after another, after another... And so bogged down with detailed descriptions I found I had to force myself to keep going. That's when I put it aside.

☮Karen It only felt a little long? It's 870 pgs, crikey.

Britany good point Karen!! Actually my copy had 1,059 pages!!!! Have mercy!

Kath It's a soap opera. One I enjoy, but not high literature. Harry Potter books got longer, Wheel of Time... Very common in a series that is popular. You can pretend you are reading them in real time, waiting for her to write each one.

Britany True point Kath! `Thanks :)
