I've been wanting to read this book for months!!

I keep seeing amazing reviews, there are literally 250,000+ ratings so far on here...

I should finally have my hands on it within the month according to my library waiting list (I was #200 and something... FINALLY!!)

.... and I'm DNFing it lol I can't do it.

Can't wait to see if it was worth the long wait haha

Veda It is SO GOOD!!!! I can’t wait for you to read it!

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I’m #990, so I am set to wait for a good bit. I hope some of those people are quick readers

Ashley O wow, I absolutely loved this book. It was just so natural. Everything about it was so well done.

message 7: by Jayde (new) - added it

Jayde I'm reading it now and really enjoying it! Luckily my wait was only a couple of months, can't imagine being 200th in a queue, wow.

Elena Druță I started reading it yesterday; I love it, so far! Can`t wait to see/read your opinion about this book <3

message 9: by Sarah S (new) - added it

Sarah S It’s on Scribd right now!

message 10: by By O. (new) - added it

By O. That was... Ok. I did NOT see that coming, that's what I call a Plot Twist...

message 11: by Alicia (new) - added it

Alicia This had over 1000 holds at my library and I also DNF'd it. I just could NOT.

Jennifer Ah oh? I’m still waiting at my library. Has been using one of my holds spots for a long time.

Sarah Brazell Hahahah!

Michael Yikes!

message 15: by Gaëlle (new)

Gaëlle Tout ça pour ça :')

Suzanne Yeah I waited months at the library and thought it was so average. Beautiful nature descriptions but unrealistic characters and lame plot.

message 17: by Yan (new) - added it

Yan Gao I feel the same! Pacing is so slow and I couldn’t pass the first three chapters. Still in my current reading category for over a year now.

message 18: by Sue (new)

Sue Read an article about the corollaries between the novel’s plot and the author’s life – deeply troubling. After that, I lost all interest in ever reading this book.

Rafael Gonçalves Gonna start reading this tomorrow.

Your comment really interested me, so I decided to take a look. Holy yikes...I'll probably still read because I'm intrigued about the connections she made (unwittingly or otherwise), but it sounds like they've got some blood on their hands.

Sabrina Thank you - I only finished it out of spite. It was nothing special.

Marissa You’re not missing anything. The beginning was all right but the ending of this book just made me angry.

Jennifer Oh dear these comments are going from bad to worse. Should I even start?

Kristin I completely understand. I had so many people tell me how great this book was. Then... when I finally got to read it... I was bored... I read the beginning.... skimmed the middle and read the end. It was super MEH.

Olivia I liked it but I'm not sure why it got sooo much hype. Maybe I don't read enough adult literary fiction and I just don't get it lol

message 26: by Emily (new)

Emily I’ve seen the hype everywhere, but honestly this book just hasn’t appealed to me at all.

Amanda Oakley I loved it, but I really enjoy these types of characters and plots. Seems like an odd story to receive so much hype though.

Rafael Gonçalves The day I saw you DNFed it was the day I started reading it. I'm glad I made a decision in 2017 to never DNF a book. Some of them I ended up loving after reading until the very end. I'm currently at about 70% of this book and, yes, it's hard to read. It's almost as if nothing happens, but oh boy what a strong character Kya is. Seeing her story and how she grows up to a strong woman is fascinating and at the same time heartbraking. Can't wait to finish it!

Corinna I finished it yesterday. It started off so well but it slowly got worse. It didn’t help that the voice used for Kya in the audiobook was bizarre and childish... but the ending?! So ridiculous and impossible! Ugh!

message 30: by Anna (new) - added it

Anna Morgenstern Just returned it to Audible, I found it incredibly boring, thought I was the only one!

message 31: by Julia (new) - rated it 1 star

Julia Arruda Sooooo boring

Raija In my opinion the first quarter is boring AF, but since I was bored I figured I'd push through it. Now I'm 60% through it, and I really enjoy it. Not a five star, definitely not, but a solid 3.5 I think.

Alanna Best review yet! I'm enjoying the reviews more than I did the book! Lol. I was hyped about it. Came recommend by many readers....glad I was able to get it on loan from a friend. I hated it. Skimmed over half of it just to finish it after 3 months!

message 34: by Ana Luisa (new) - added it

Ana Luisa I bought the book recently (in Portuguese)... and I swear...i was thinking “No, i will not Dnf it! it’s me, i had a 365 days Reading slump, it’s meeee, the book is good i just have to be patient ...” Zzzz Honestly, I don’t know how a book so boring is so high rated... for so many people.
But it’s ok...I’ll dnf it anyway.
Nexttt!!!

Christina Burnett I’m late to the party with this book, but finally read it because my cousin just finished it and loved it. I was so bored until about the 3/4 mark. I should have DNFed but I kept reading out of spite and it was not worth it. The ending was foreshadowed so hard in the first *boring* quarter of the book.

Did anybody else find the constant insertions of the poems annoying (and yes, I read the whole thing, I know, but I think they hurt more than they help since they made the pacing even slower)?

Bridget Vollmer Yeah I'm listening the audiobook sped up. I want to DNF it, but can't. My mother in law gave the book to me and I have no interest, but I know she will ask about it, so I felt I'll quickly listen to the audiobook while I work so I can be done with it. Not sure why this got all the hype.

Erika Yes I tried. I was already bored by the first sentence...

Danai Ugh that's the worst! I'm bored already, but hoping it turns around.
