“He will always choose the circus.”
This has to be one of the most raved about books and with good reason. It’s by far one of the most magical and imaginative stories I’ve come across and not to get all Twilighty - or maybe I am - but it has definitely imprinted itself onto my soul. I won’t be letting it go anytime soon. And impossible, most likely.
The circus itself has a life of its own. It’s the main character of the story, the main attraction that draws you in with its allure, it’s magic, mysteries and the wonders it presents.
It became the sole purpose for some and it was interesting to see how different characters within the story became affected by the circus and to see what it meant to them. For some it became a safe haven and for others a purpose to the point of destruction.
What I loved about it the most was the attention to the small details and how that showcased and emphasised that the little things do matter. It added so much character and nuance and magic to the story as a whole, becoming a vivid reality on some occasions. By the end of it, my heart was aching because I didn’t want to part with it, neither did I want it to ever end.
I’m in a daze now. I’m off to reread the last few pages again and hug the book. 🥺

Thank you so much!! I’ve concocted some form of a review for this lol but I adored it!

Oh no!! I mean it’s worth a try again if you think you’ll feel different about it. Or it might not be your cup of tea lol

Thanks Salma! This was a perfect fantasy standalone. Even though I never wanted it to end it was the perfect amount too.

I felt the same way. I had no idea what to expect and I had the best time discovering the story.

I think if you enjoyed The Starless Sea, you’ll enjoy this one too? They’re both quite whimsical and magical. It’s worth a try. 😊

Lol well each to their own I guess.

Does it pale in comparison? lol I'm gonna send you an actual picture. :D

It's the same edition though mine doesn't have the sprayed edges which I'm salty about 😂

I’m thinking it might become a yearly reread for me.
