i would rate my reading experience 3 stars, but this book deserves a solid 4 stars.

it was well-paced and the plot was amazing, but i just wasn’t emotionally invested 😓

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ chaol
chaol was such a pain in the ass in the first half of this book. it was frustrating how he blamed aelin for things that weren’t within her control and kept preventing her from trying to put dorian out of his misery at first, but i get that he didn’t want to give up on his friend. he was even willing to sacrifice himself for him which was admirable 😭💔 i was so relieved when the ‘real’ king revealed that he hadn’t killed him, but now he’s paralyzed 😭😭😭 i’m also glad he saw aelin for who she is without being afraid eventually. and him being happy for her and rowan got me like 🙁🙁🙁 i will never forget the love they had for each other 🥲

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ nesryn
nesryn was cool and all, but i found it pretty random how she was introduced in this book as chaol’s former lover and then as his lover again. they didn’t seem that interested in each other to me tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ aedion and rowan
i’m so glad aedion and aelin finally reunited , and i was so happy when rowan appeared 🤭 THE TENSION BETWEEN HIM AND AELIN 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 i get that he didn’t want to succumb to his feelings, but i really wanted to bang his head against the wall when he told her not to touch him ‘like that’. boyyy 😭😭😭

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ aelin and lysandra
i didn’t think i’d ever say this but i really like aelin and lysandra now 🤯 lysandra was such a badass in this book. the way she saved rowan, aedion and lorcan’s asses during the wyrdhound fight scene LOLLLLL. you go girl!!!!! 🤭😙

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ arobynn
i genuinely fell for it when aelin pretended to be under his control after he put the ring on her finger 😓 i’m sooo happy he’s finally dead. he was insufferable omg.

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ lorcan, elide, and vernon
i honestly have no idea how to feel about lorcan and elide. lorcan was pretty annoying and elide was just… there 😐 (i’m sorry). and vernon was so haughty 🙄

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ manon and asterin
i KNEWWW manon would switch sides, and she quickly became one of my favourite characters. i really liked asterin too, and her story was really heartbreaking 🥲 manon’s grandmother is the definition of pure evil.

the fight scene between aelin’s group and manon’s group was INTENSEEE. i honestly wouldn’t have saved manon if i were aelin because i obviously wouldn’t want to get myself killed lol!!! but thank goodness manon actually has a heart and some conscience.

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ dorian, the king, and perrington
the fight scene between dorian and aelin, and them against the king was really intense as well. i’m so glad dorian is back but it’s kinda terrifying how powerful he is…

and THE PLOT TWIST?!!? perrington is erawan and the king was actually under control this whole time??!!? the fact that the king built the towers in hopes of protecting dorian and went looking for aelin back then so she could kill him but ended up losing control and killing her parents was so unexpected.

ᡣ𐭩.ᐟ kaltain
as much as i hated kaltain, she had so much potential and it was quite a waste how she decided to sacrifice herself. but i get that she didn’t want to live anymore after being exploited like that 🥲

anywayyyyy, i think i might be in a tog slump and i’m absolutely not ready to start tandem reading empire of storms and tower of dawn, so i’m going to take a little break from this series ~
