Heidi Belleau was born and raised in small town New Brunswick, graduated with a degree in history from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, and now lives outside of Edmonton, Alberta, with her tradesman husband and two kids. A proud bisexual woman, her writing reflects everything she loves: diverse casts of queer characters, a sense of history and place, equal parts witty and filthy dialogue, the occasional mythological twist, and most of all, love—in all its weird and wonderful forms. She is the author of the REAR ENTRANCE VIDEO series, and the co-author of THE BURNT TOAST B&B. Her latest novel DEAD RINGER, co-authored with Sam Schooler, is out now from Riptide Publishing. Her work has been reviewed in PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY, LIBRARY J ...more

Hiiii!!!! I took some time off writing to have a baby and then had a death in the family, but I have two books currently in the works:

Book 1: (No Title yet, hoping to have it finished by the end of January)
An F/M/M femdom comedy about a recently divorced childfree photographer who moves to LA for a fresh start after her ex decides he wants kids after all, but winds up next door to a pair of early twenty something guys. She thinks it's going to be her worst nightmare because she was trying to get AWAY from kids but then they turn out to be less partying meatheads and more cute subby overeager puppies who compete for her affection while also secretly being attracted to one another and she decides rather than rejecting them or choosing between them, she wants them both. I'm writing that with Rachel Haimowitz,

Book 2: (Learn to Knit in Nine Months or Less)
F/F about a chubby bisexual girl who feels like she's going nowhere in life who finds out she's oops pregnant with her stoner ex's baby and somewhat ill-advisedly decides having a baby is just the thing to kickstart her growth into Real Adult. She considers herself totally not mom material, though, so she joins a knitting group because that's maternal, right? Meanwhile she's falling for the clinic escort at the PP where she receives prenatal care . . . who also happens to be a member of her new knitting group. I'm writing that one solo.

I'm also in the process of plotting 2 stories:

Story 1:
F/F historical with Sam Schooler set in the 1920s about a crossdressing bootlegger who winds up doing the boss's conniving wife's dirty work. And also getting dirty with the boss's conniving wife.

Story 2:
M/M continuation of my and Lisa Henry's Daddykink story "The Harder they Fall" about Tad and his new Daddy actually embarking on an actual relationship and falling for each other, with lots and lots of kinky sex. Will start this one when Lisa's schedule opens up.

Also on the docket for 2016/2017:
The Promiscuity Ring (M/F)
Romance between a sex-positive vlogger who grew up in purity ring culture who falls for the newly minted sexy badboy lead of a former purity-ring pushing teen boyband . . . who's secretly still a virgin.

Untitled Shelter Romcom (M/F or maybe M/M I literally haven't decided)
Person adopts kitten but falls for its foster dad, must come up with excuses to see him again. (Love Interest in this one in my head is played by Terry Crews with tiny kittens climbing his t-shirt.) (That's literally the whole thing, I just want to write an entire story centred around a Terry Crews-alike and tiny kittens)

Hope there's something her that piques your interest! And thank you for asking, nice to know that even after some time off people still care to know about my books<3

FALLEN STARLET Excerpt

Last night at Audrey’s Books, for the 4th annual Read and Write with Pride event we hold here in Edmonton, I had the distinct pleasure of publicly reading my F/F romance for the first time.

It was a packed house, and I was definitely nervous. I’ve blogged about my struggle writing F/F as a queer woman before, and all those same insecurities linger in me still, although I’m getting better at managin

“For Cormac, every touch was shadowed by regret and anger and desperation, although he tried not to show it. Sean was being so clear, so brave. Doing the right thing because it was the right thing because it was the right thing to do, like he always did and always would do. Cormac could learn a lot from him.”
Heidi Belleau, The Druid Stone

“But now that he was here, he was happy. It wasn’t an uncomplicated kind of happy, but still. Something about the warm atmosphere, the way Cormac’s family teased him the same as they teased each other, fussed over him and brought him drinks, included him seamlessly in their conversation, just…recognized him.”
Heidi Belleau, The Druid Stone

“Finally he must have noticed his vice grip on Austin, because he made a disgusted face and threw Austin’s arms down. “I am the Dom here. I am in charge,” he insisted, but then all the anger left his voice. “And being in charge means controlling myself—my own urges—too. Maybe more so than I ever try to control you.” He petted Austin’s hair. Leaned in to press their foreheads together briefly, the way he always did when he was overcome with one of those emotions he refused to tell Austin about.”
Heidi Belleau, Straight Shooter

“I have written it before and am not ashamed to write it again. Without Wodehouse I am not sure that I would be a tenth of what I am today -- whatever that may be. In my teenage years, his writings awoke me to the possibilities of language. His rhythms, tropes, tricks and mannerisms are deep within me.
But more than that, he taught me something about good nature. It is enough to be benign, to be gentle, to be funny, to be kind.”
Stephen Fry

“I agree that it's a shame some books have to suffer ratings that clearly are invalid. However I can't think of a way to prevent it, and I didn't see any ideas in the thread either (I did skim though).

I hope you'll appreciate that if we just start deleting ratings whenever we feel like it, that we've gone down a censorship road that doesn't take us to a good place.”
