I have read a couple of Alice's books (Charming Billy, The Optimist's Daughter) and was thrilled to learn so much from her when I sat in on 6 of her workshops when I was at Sewanee Writers' Conference in 2002. This one sounds great as well. xo
Kathryn, I am currently reading SOMEONE by Alice McDermott and though I didn't grow up in the exact period that she writes about, I am amazing at how her memory-laden work speaks to me. She is able to pull us into a world without the clamor of tension, but rather the strange pull and tug of life. Hope are are well, Beth Havey
